2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the full price

Pros: Very bright.
One touch game mode is cool.
Thin bezel, but slightly compromised by the large monitor stand.

Cons: My video card registers the monitor as a TV panel when I plug it in using an HMDI cord and therefore does not provide the auto-adjustment feature, causing my desktop to appear much smaller than the size of the monitor. Solved this issue by changing the scaling options in my video card settings, but still quite vexing.

Two months in and I found a couple dead pixel, which is absolutely absurd for a monitor that they're asking nearly $400 for.

No display port connections, which I was aware of when I purchased it.

Base is not that sturdy and causes the monitor to wobble profusely.

Other Thoughts: I had a few display issues with this panel when it first arrived which was pretty irritating, but I was able to correct them (-1 egg). Regardless of the fact that I bought this item on sale, a panel worth nearly $400 should not have any pixels burn out within the first year, let alone the first 2 months (-2 eggs). I like the brightness and the game mode feature but that does not make up for my disappointment in staring at a dead pixel on a 2 month old monitor (just out of return policy).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 27" Curved Monitor

Pros: The monitor is amazing. The picture is crisp and the colors have just the right amount of saturation. Not too, much or too little.

The size is good. 27" of viewing real estate it's an elegant monitor. The curve I thought would be just a gimmick, however its purpose is much more felt then on a TV, because you are sitting directly in front, mid-center.

One commentor mentioned no VESA mounts as a con. I can't speak to the commentor's monitior, but mine has VESA mounting holes.

This is a great multipurpose monitor. I use it for everything from general computing to gaming.

Cons: The stand is very solid but can wobble if you are banging away on your keyboard. Other then that it's fine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat price, good quality, bright picture, lots of options

Pros: Bright and sharp (after adjustments)
Lots of adjustment options
Sleek and beautifiul

Cons: No VESA mount holes
VGA and HDMI only
Port location
No swivel or height adjustment

Other Thoughts: I was looking for an inexpensive 27" monitor with a thin bezel to use in a dual monitor setup. The SD590 (S27D590P) was a great choice. I was able to get mine locally (open box) for under $200 each.
Of course a 27" 1080p monitor is not going to be nearly as sharp as 1440p 27” monitor. The picture is very bright (probably too bright for most people) but there are LOTS of options to tweak the picture. I did NOT like the picture out of the box. Fonts were jagged, the screen was too bright, colors were off, and "Game Mode" was enabled. I was ready to return it until I decided to tweak the picture. I was delighted to see so many picture options! I disabled game mode, tweaked the colors, turned the sharpness down to 60, brightness and contrast are at 85, and Smart Upscale is on Mode1. Some people may prefer a brighter picture but this is perfect for me.
These are very beautiful monitors. Samsung makes really good panels so I wasn't too worried about the picture quality. However, considering the low cost, I was worried that the build quality would suffer. I was wrong. They cut a few corners but they did good overall. They have a brushed aluminum look to them and they have the thinnest bezel I could find in the sub-$350 price range. Lately, manufacturers have a tendency to make a small bezel but the picture will not extend all the way to the edge. That is not the case with this monitor. It is truly a thin bezel. However, I do have 4 issues I have with the design of this monitor. First, they put the buttons on the back of the monitor. I keep a soundbar under my screens so getting to the buttons is rather difficult. Another issue I have is that the ports are not angle down or to the side but they are placed straight on the back of the panel so any cables will stick directly out from the back, which makes the monitor less aesthetically pleasing. (This is very common on recent budget monitors) To make matters worse, they give you a straight plug instead of an angled plug and they ironically made the wall end of the power cord angled. I don't think they gave it much thought. Another issue is that there is no VESA mount!! I was so disappointed to see this and I actually considered returning them because of it and deducted a star because of it. I planned on getting a dual monitor stand for more flexibility but this is not possible so you're stuck unless you get creative. The last issue is that I would have liked to see either displayport or DVI ports on the monitor. This is not a big deal as I was able to use adapters but I would prefer more flexibility.
I was afraid that the monitors were stuck tilted in an upward position BUT they just require a bit more strength than usual. They do tilt back and forth and can be tilted straight to 90 degrees like I prefer. The stand is not the greatest. It doesn't pivot side to side and the height is not adjustable. The only option you have is tilting. However, it has a minimalist

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Price for sure. Large screen. Sleek design.

Cons: I've owned this monitor for 5 months now and just found a burnt out pixel. I'm disappointed because I had grown fond of Samsung's quality monitors since my previous Samsung monitor lasted 8 years without any trouble, burnt out pixels, etc. Now I have a new monitor with a burnt pixel that will stare at me for years.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny to me

Pros: I bought three of these monitors during one of Newegg’s many sales. At full price, maybe I would think twice but I am very happy so far. In my opinion, the colors are bright and true, construction seems above average, and I find the overall design sleek. When I bought, I was looking for three matching monitors. At the time, Newegg only had two of this model in stock so I bought a refurbished one. I do not know if I am just one of the lucky ones but it seems to be the same quality as the retail version. If the price of this monitor is too steep for you maybe, a refurbished one is the answer. Great monitor at $279 good monitor at full price.

Cons: The monitor is operated using a small joystick located in the back. It is taking some getting used to and I find it strange. I have the same issue with all three monitors so I have to assume some of what I think is unusual was intentional. The monitor only responds if there is an active video signal. The moment it does not see one it goes to sleep and the controls do not work. I am used to shutting down the computer and then monitor, printers and sound equipment after. To get these monitors to shut off the computer has to be running or in the process of shutting down. That being said, if you are the type of person that lets your computer hibernate or sleep between uses you might not even notice.

Other Thoughts: I am very happy with the quality and features that these monitors offer. I have only owned them for a short time but so far I and glad I did this upgrade. Worth every penny to me

4 out of 5 eggsBest investment for a monitor

Pros: HD quality
physically looks great
wonderful game mode
Resolution is amazing

Cons: top heavy
easy to knock over if your moving things around

Other Thoughts: I absolutely love this monitor and if it wasn't for the price I would buy a second one for a duel screen, the only thing is how unbalanced it can be. if a cord gets under the foot stand, or you move something and it hits your screen, or even a video wire is pulled your screen may fall flat on its screen. (every one of these happened to me). other than that if your careful and you don't expect to do a lot of moving around, this screen is a bang for your buck. I first turned it on and it nearly blinded me. I love watching movies and playing video games on it. if you were looking for a screen for your laptop/desktop, I would highly recommend this monitor.

3 out of 5 eggsSamsung S27D590

Pros: First and foremost the colors, I’m really picky about this one and imo Samsung created one accurate budget monitor.

Speed 5ms, coming from an HDTV this monitor feels faster than my last monitor. I’m sure for the most intense first person gamer they won’t like it but I can say the same thing for any IPS monitor then.

Bright monitor I even had to turn down the brightness to 85 unlike others this is a plus not a con some IPS monitors are just too dim.

Runs cool, which is a big plus for me since I’m stuck in a small room with no window.

I really like the stand, and the small bezel

Sharp for a 27 inch 1080P monitor my friend even thinks it’s too sharp and when I told him most want 1440P at this size he looked at me like I was crazy.

Cons: Dead pixels which made me pretty angry it happen the first day I got the monitor.

When gaming or watching something on this monitor the screen is too washed out or dark around the edges it’s really bad, it only happens when the game or video is in some dim scene however, I was watching walking dead on it and I was getting pretty disappointed actually. I can’t see this being a problem for anyone who is just using this to type on and watching things casually. However I work and set at the PC all day and use my PC for everything.

Also the viewing angles on this are pretty bad for those dim scenes.

Other Thoughts: I was debating if I wanted to replace this monitor or get a refund I decided on the refund and I’m going to try the Acer H276HL, the thing is I’m going to miss the stand on this monitor and I’m probably not going to get colors as accurate even though the Acer is still an IPS monitor, but I’m hoping I don’t get that washed out dark look when a scene in a movie or game is dark.

Also Newegg’s customer support was fantastic about this and didn’t make me even pay for a restocking fee I have to say their customer support is the main reason I shop here over the competition.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible Experience

Pros: The stand is quite stable. Also the rear control stick and UI work quite well.

Cons: Everything else... The stand does not allow the monitor to be completely vertical, making it tilt back. The backlight bleeds through very badly, starting at the right and left edges and continuing 1/3 across the screen. My rather old Samsung 2433BW monitor actually has far less bleed. Also, the display looks crazy bright, forcing me to lower the contrast on both the display and the video card settings to zero, plus lowering the video card's gamma setting quite a lot. Even then, I still preferred my old monitor's image quality over this one (which was a total shock). Most people would compliment the brightness and contrast, but I found it to be a nuisance, irritating my eyes, and hard to reduce without hurting the image quality. Seriously, it was crazy bright. As for the IPS tech in the display, I couldn't tell that there were more colors in the image. The colors in my old monitor literally looked the same (if not better, given the brightness problems).

Other Thoughts: Maybe my old Samsung 2433BW was unusually high quality for its era, but I was severely disappointed with this PLS monitor. It has actually made me question the value of IPS at all. I certainly won't buy a Samsung again since I simply can't trust them to deliver quality any more.
