5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Color reproduction is excllent (using color managed apps). For the first time ever, a photoshop photo looks the same on this monitor as when I printed on a color managed epson printer. I have a dual display with a reasonably expensive Dell next to it. Makes the Dell look so cheap. calibration is easy with the Spectraview and well worth the extra.

Cons: Can get warm. Not energy efficient (but who cares for one monitor!). Some have mentioned casts over the monitor. It is very very slight and a function of viewing distance. the closer you are, the more the angle of view change between corners. That is why I go for a 24" monitor and not a 27.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you set up ideal viewing conditions. You don't want to sit in front of a $1000 monitor and have tungsten lighting in your room. Get a couple of dimmable table lamps, put neutral density bulbs in them and dim them very low (the spectraview will help you set this up). Anything else and your eyes will adjust too much to your ambient lighting. This monitor and its successor are pro monitors aimed at the low end of the media market (yes there is a high end if you want to spend 2x to 4x more $). I do a lot of work on Photoshop, After Effects, SpeedGrade, Premier and I am very happy with the results. I would not call it a gaming monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsA great display.

Pros: This is one of few true 10-bit IPS displays for this price level. Color clarity is excellent especially when calibrated with an NEC SpectraSensor Pro using SpectraView II software.
The monitors input latency is NOT noticable when playing games at any setting, and this screen in fact makes games look bea-utiful.

Cons: There is minimal backlight bleed on the bottom right corner of my display, but is barely noticable during use. The reality is that this cannot be avoided with any IPS panel you buy.

It's not LED. At least LED color accurate monitors haven't gotten cheap enough yet.

You'll notice the antiglare coating a bit when viewing web pages while scrolling down, but it's not noticable when gaming or photo editing. NEC recommends cleaning with a dry microfiber cloth, and if that doesn't work, to dampen it with only water (make sure no other chemicals were sprayed/washed into it first though). I've tried this to a small part of the screen and that part now appears to be a little smudged if I hold a light to the side of it. Not sure how one is supposed to clean the screen without getting these streaks.

Other Thoughts: Reds will appear more saturated in non-color managed programs. You can setup Firefox to be color managed so that way you can view photos on websites as they are intended. Non-color managed programs (games) benefit from this by looking especially more awesome.

After much research, I bought this monitor as I needed an affordable wide gamut, 10bit display for photo editing. I also game quite a bit, so I needed a screen that wouldn't have too much input latency. Know that as long as the input latency is less than 10ms, you'll never notice the difference in any game, and don't let a placebo'd 1ms TN panel "gaming monitor" user tell you otherwise. More need to buy IPS Panels to make them the norm, because even without the 10bit or wide gamut, things look great, and there is much less eye strain.

To access 10 bit output, you need a true 10bit monitor, the proper connector (DisplayPort, preferably version 1.2 of the cable), a compatible video card WITH supporting drivers.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Quality

Pros: Excellent monitor. This replaced a good BenQ monitor of 3 years (expected longer life). This one has 4 year warranty..colors, VIEWING ANGLE and minimal backlight bleeding or uniformity. I didn't know there were different panels and I bought a garbage Samsung XL2370-1 that got great reviews..apparently all from blind people. It lasted 15 min before I closed it back up and returned it. How do people settle for the horrible viewing angles and color? ??

Got this instead after many hrs of research and it's worth it. Perfect colors and the viewing angles are great. No dead pixels.

Cons: Small amount of backlight bleeding top left and bottom right which is a shame for the price but these days companies don't build or take pride in what they make it seems. I got tired of looking for a good replacement for last monitor and this one works well. The uniformity doesn't show too much during use so it's passable.

Other Thoughts: Just the uniformity issue..for $900 that should not be present but everything else is perfect on this monitor.
