5 out of 5 eggsDon't miss out! Great buy!

Pros: BIG! Bright display! Game play is superb. So much more space with 1680 x 1050 res. Images and text are crisp and clear. Recommend you buy this monitor!

Cons: No DVI! DVI-D cable is a must! Don't waste your time with VGA.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but

Pros: Bright, looks fantastic and nice resolution

Cons: some blacklight bleeding, a bit too bright and one dead pixel, annoying blue light

Other Thoughts: When I first got it, I was blinded and amazed (had a 17" CRT), video and games look amazing, no ghosting/bleeding that I know of, though I haven't gamed much, the dead pixel I got, wasn't there When I got it, so it might be stuck but I did try fixing it, its in the upper center to the right, so Its annoying on a white background (like this site) but hard to notice in most games and movies.
Can turn off indicator light (blue/amber) off in settings
Ordered on Black Friday, didn't get here till Wednesday

Would buy from LG again

3 out of 5 eggsProblems on a Mac

Pros: BIG! Bright with lots of contrast

Cons: Simply cannot get it to work with Apple ColorSync. Called customer support and was told that they didn't support Apple products, so graphic people beware!

5 out of 5 eggsLG 20" Wide LCD is Best in Class!

Pros: Extremely bright display, even though it's only rated at 300cd/m2 brightness. The contrast ration is 2000:1, which is why the images (especially text) are crisp and clear. The response time is 5 ms... which isn't the fastest on the market, but I haven't been able to observe any ghosting, banding, or other image irregularities. The monitor accepts DVI & RGB connections, though neither cable is included. I just can't say enough about this display!

Cons: I have three minor gripes about this fantastic display: 1) The ICC Color profile for it is not accepted by photoshop nor does it render color as it should. Something is way off kilter and I can't seem to get the correct color profile so PhotoShop will stop generating a warning every time it launches. 2) The controls to adjust the display properties are not the easiest to navigate. However... I got the display fine-tuned, I haven't had to fuss with the settings. 3) The power button to turn the display off is located on the BACK of the display on the lower right hand corner. This is not an easy-to-locate place.

Other Thoughts: Minor gripes aside, this is an absolutely LCD monitor that would work in a gaming, multimedia production, or business environment. Some people complain that a DVI cable wasn't included, but my experience has been that the cables included in the box are inferior and I usually discard them or use them only as a backup.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Monitor

Pros: Good viewing angle. Bright (I turned down the brightness on mine). No dead pixels. Everything looks good.

Cons: The refresh rate at maximum resolution is 60Hz, not 75Hz. This isn't a big deal, but I was a bit surprised.

The adjustable stand seems a bit flimsy. I'm not planning on re-adjusting it though, so it will be fine for what I need.

Other Thoughts: Widecreen monitors tend to hurt for resolution. I wouldn't get a lower resolution monitor of this size, or a larger monitor with the same resolution.

5 out of 5 eggsWith DVI, works well with Linux/X.org

Pros: Beautiful and crystal-clear screen, great viewing angle, no dead/stuck pixels, and swiftly delivered from NewEgg as always. :)

Using its DVI connection, this monitor works without trouble "out of the box" with my Fedora 7 desktop (and, presumably, would work similarly well with other recent Linux distributions). Just plug it in and reboot to have a beautiful widescreen desktop or workstation. ^_^

Unlike what many others have posted I have yet to notice any light leakage from the top/bottom edges.

Cons: For one, it does not come with a DVI cable, only VGA.

Secondly, Using this VGA connection with Linux/X11 requires a bit of manual X server configuration (setting it to use GTF-calculated mode lines) before it will properly do widescreen. (Just use the DVI and this is all automatically configured for you. It's really much simpler if you can.)

Lastly, the OSD function keys are somewhat oddly-placed (located on the back right lower edge), and the OSD menu itself is a bit weird until you get used to it.

Other Thoughts: With Fedora's stock freetype builds (no BCI or subpixel rendering) I've found the clearest font rendering for this monitor to be at 98 DPI with grayscale smoothing enabled and hinting set at Full. (This is known as the "Best Contrast" option in the GNOME font preferences.)

Also, note that the DVI connector is a digital-only interface (DVI-D). DVI-I or DVI-A cables will *not* fit it.

4 out of 5 eggsA Great Value

Pros: I use a couple of these monitors to do graphic design work on, and the color richness and contrast is exactly what I need. Put this monitor side-by-side with any similarly priced monitor, and you'll notice a huge difference in the quality.

Cons: The viewing angle statistic seems a bit overinflated. Even so, it seems like enough for several people to sit in front of it and watch a movie without problems.

Other Thoughts: Works great for gaming as well, very responsive and no ghosting.

I give this monitor 4 stars because of the viewing angle, but if it's just going to be you sitting in front of it, you can't beat the crispness and color for this price. Overall highly recommended.
