Pros: -Great size -No unnecessary built-in speakers -Looks sharp (1080p, so what did I expect?) -No dead/stuck pixels that I've seen.
Cons: -No DVI cable -Don't like that wave-shaped power button. It goes well with the design, but the red light seems a little tacky. It also sometimes doen't respond well if you hit it slightly off-center. Would have preferred a solid round button. -Pretty useless "fun" button. It can set the aspect ratio (which would have been fine in the regular menu), and do some "photo effects."
Other Thoughts: Good screen overall, I'm happy with it. No HDMI but doesn't really need it. No major cons as far as picture quality go, and that's what I bought it for afterall.

Pretty nice deal.

Pros: - No backlight bleeding. - Great image quality. - 1920x1080 at a bargain price, with HDCP support. - Nice array of settings, including the ability to turn off the power indicator light completely. - I suppose the shiny plastic is nice looking, but this is a double edged sword.
Cons: I was hoping not to run into this, but there is one, just ONE dead pixel in the lower left corner. I had to focus in on it and double check myself to notice that it was actually a dead pixel. With a pixel density this high, dead pixels are somewhat less of an issue especially when there's only one of them. To be fair, it was a reasonably inexpensive monitor, so I'll let it go. The shiny finish brings out dust and fingerprints, but whatever, I didn't buy this monitor to stare at the bezel.
Other Thoughts: Wish I had waited a day, ended up being 10 bucks cheaper with free shipping. Ah well, can't get all the deals I suppose. Great monitor at a great price, knocked off an egg for the dead pixel but it is what it is, I'll let it go.
Thanks Newegg!

Pros: Settings produce a clean, easy to read display that is not overpowering or obnoxious. While the menu setup is a bit tedious, I haven't found an LCD that isn't (I'm still a fan of potentiometers under a door) Handles HD content beautifully. I love that you can turn off the power light. I wish all my components had that option (KEYBOARD!!!!!!!!!!)
Cons: Had some issues with interlacing artifacts when connected through DVI. Resolution scaling leaves a bit to be desired. Not an issue unless you use the panel for troubleshooting as well as daily use, which I don't (as previously stated, CRT's still have a use there)
Other Thoughts: Was easy to assemble. I wish I could say the same about the many Samsungs I own...

Good picture, cheap construction
Reviewed By: CP on 2/7/2010
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Good picture, resolution for the price
Cons: -Everything except for the panel in this model line feels incredibly cheap, and it's more obvious as the screens get bigger. You'll notice as soon as you take it out of the box. -The stand is thin, bendy plastic of the quality usually reserved for packaging material... the stuff you throw in the garbage after you open it. Once it's standing, the screen can be twisted about an inch in any direction just from the flex in the plastic. The screen actually shakes noticeably just from the vibrations of my typing. -Same goes for the buttons on the front - they feel like the buttons on a cheap Chinese toy. -The biggest problem for me. I figured I'd just wall mount the thing so I wouldn't have to deal with the stand. Turns out that the base stem (not the flat removable part of the base) is permanently attached to the unit. So you can either wall mount the screen with the ugly stump sticking out of the bottom (or dragging on the desk, as mine is doing now) or hack it off with a saw.
Other Thoughts: It's clear that LG cut a lot of corners to keep the cost of this thing down, but at least it wasn't on the panel. Apart from a poor viewing angle, which should be expected, this thing gives a perfectly adequate picture.
The flimsy stand is annoying, but it's the unremovable base stem that's unforgivable. That's not just cheap, that's bad design.
Once you have the monitor set up, if you can keep vibrations away from it (which cause it to shake) you'll probably be quite happy with it.

Sweet Monitor

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Wide screen, bright picture, vibrant colors, no dead pixels
Cons: Funky looking power button with bright red LED... not a big deal, no DVI cable included.
Other Thoughts: Normally I don't buy things like monitors sight unseen, but my brother has had an LG monitor for a few years now and I always loved the picture better than the 17" Sony flat panel I've had for about the same amount of time.
Out of the box I just connected it to my video card (with a DVI cable I had), plugged it in and turned it on. No dead pixels! I also had to do no tweaking of the controls to get a bright crisp picture. Definitely a great monitor.
The bright red LED on the wavy power button is a little too bright, but that's not a big deal. A week later and I barely notice it any more.
A DVI cable would have been nice, but at this price I'm not really going to complain about it.
