5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: Settings produce a clean, easy to read display that is not overpowering or obnoxious. While the menu setup is a bit tedious, I haven't found an LCD that isn't (I'm still a fan of potentiometers under a door) Handles HD content beautifully. I love that you can turn off the power light. I wish all my components had that option (KEYBOARD!!!!!!!!!!)

Cons: Had some issues with interlacing artifacts when connected through DVI. Resolution scaling leaves a bit to be desired. Not an issue unless you use the panel for troubleshooting as well as daily use, which I don't (as previously stated, CRT's still have a use there)

Other Thoughts: Was easy to assemble. I wish I could say the same about the many Samsungs I own...

3 out of 5 eggsGood picture, cheap construction

Pros: Good picture, resolution for the price

Cons: -Everything except for the panel in this model line feels incredibly cheap, and it's more obvious as the screens get bigger. You'll notice as soon as you take it out of the box.
-The stand is thin, bendy plastic of the quality usually reserved for packaging material... the stuff you throw in the garbage after you open it. Once it's standing, the screen can be twisted about an inch in any direction just from the flex in the plastic. The screen actually shakes noticeably just from the vibrations of my typing.
-Same goes for the buttons on the front - they feel like the buttons on a cheap Chinese toy.
-The biggest problem for me. I figured I'd just wall mount the thing so I wouldn't have to deal with the stand. Turns out that the base stem (not the flat removable part of the base) is permanently attached to the unit. So you can either wall mount the screen with the ugly stump sticking out of the bottom (or dragging on the desk, as mine is doing now) or hack it off with a saw.

Other Thoughts: It's clear that LG cut a lot of corners to keep the cost of this thing down, but at least it wasn't on the panel. Apart from a poor viewing angle, which should be expected, this thing gives a perfectly adequate picture.

The flimsy stand is annoying, but it's the unremovable base stem that's unforgivable. That's not just cheap, that's bad design.

Once you have the monitor set up, if you can keep vibrations away from it (which cause it to shake) you'll probably be quite happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Monitor

Pros: Wide screen, bright picture, vibrant colors, no dead pixels

Cons: Funky looking power button with bright red LED... not a big deal, no DVI cable included.

Other Thoughts: Normally I don't buy things like monitors sight unseen, but my brother has had an LG monitor for a few years now and I always loved the picture better than the 17" Sony flat panel I've had for about the same amount of time.

Out of the box I just connected it to my video card (with a DVI cable I had), plugged it in and turned it on. No dead pixels! I also had to do no tweaking of the controls to get a bright crisp picture. Definitely a great monitor.

The bright red LED on the wavy power button is a little too bright, but that's not a big deal. A week later and I barely notice it any more.

A DVI cable would have been nice, but at this price I'm not really going to complain about it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Got another, identical to the first. Which has been working flawlessly. I'm really impressed with this monitor.

Cons: Still a dust magnet.

Other Thoughts: The red wavy button has kinda grown on me. I'd miss it if it was removed.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING!!!

Pros: GREAT monitor at a GREAT price!!!! Full 1080P HD!!!! NO dead pixels here.

Cons: The RED wavy power light is kinda weird, and it blinks when the computer is OFF. I would think they would want it to be GREEN, but it really isn't that big of a deal.

Other Thoughts: I had a little trouble getting the monitor driver installed in Vista 64, but I finally got it pointed to the driver disk that came with the monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect so far

Pros: -Nice clear crisp picture. Good colors and evenly distributed backlighting with no bleed through.
-1080p resolution and "HDCP ready" means it can function as a HDTV display.
-No wimpy built-in speakers (that no one ever uses) jacking up the price.
-No dead pixels (so far).
-Easy to get to buttons to change the aspect ratio (4:3 / 16:9) when playing games on an under powered system and you need to select a low resolution (like 1024 x 768).... this is wonderful for me since my PC is a little older and I love FPS games. This basically centers a 4:3 display on the screen, leaving the left and right side of the monitor blank. Unlike one other reviewer, I would have hated for this function to be buried deeply within the menu.... as it is, its a simple two-button-press (far left button then the far right) and your done... no thought involved. Nicely done LG!
-Source button right on the bezel for easily switching to a second, VGA source (also have an older linux laptop hooked to it).

Cons: -Shinny bezel = fingerprint magnet.
-The most useless power button switch design, ever.
-NO DVI CABLE!
-Part of the adjustable stand is permanently attached to the base of the monitor, sticking down 3 inches or so.... only a problem if like me, you want to use a VESA mount on a swing arm and want the monitor to be as low as possible to clear an obstruction above my desk (permanent shelving).

Other Thoughts: Great monitor, love it so far... amazingly large desktop space now... 1920 x 1080!!(upgrading from a 17", 1024 x 768 CRT). Highly recommend this monitor... with a few thoughts:

When in power saving mode, its GIANT red wave-shaped LED power button flashes on and off... and its highly distracting when I'm at my desk but not using the computer. LG included an analog VGA cable with this monitor (what?).... they could have spent an extra dollar or two and swapped it out for a DVI cable. The dimensions shown on Newegg for maximum height (15.6") are for the monitor PLUS the stand, not for just the screen + bezel only, as it appears to show in the graphic. The upper part of the stand assembly is permanently attached to the monitor back for some weird reason, so if you do use a VESA mount, you have a weird half-stand stub sticking out the bottom of the monitor a few inches below the bezel, which is very visible, and affects how low you can mount it. Why can't I remove the stand completely?

5 out of 5 eggs1080p? HD? 21.5"? Sold.

Pros: Just rec'd yesterday, but so far, so brilliant. My older, out-of-warranty monitor started to fail, so I turned to NewEgg to purchase a replacement. This monitor is bigger and better and beautiful. Windows 7 recognized it immediately.

(Worth Noting: At the time, this monitor was listed for $10 off retail, on sale for $30 off that price and shipped for free.)

Cons: No DVI-D cable, only a VGA cable. This isn't a dealbreaker, but it would be a courtesy to include a $10 cable.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works. No dead pixels. Bright and didn't have to change a thing. Just plugged it in.

Cons: Tacky wave button, with a red backlight. More annoying than anything.

Other Thoughts: I'll be getting another one in a couple of months.
