2 out of 5 eggsBenQ BL3200PT: a sad experience for my first experience with the brand

Pros: Image quality is great; size is very good to work with multiple windows as I work with protein structures; It seems to have a solid construction; the distance of the screen from me, considering the base is also something well done.

Cons: Poor package; Received a defective unit from store, which makes me think about quality control; The monitor is too heavy, I would say it is heavier than the base; the control is completely useless to me; high price; customer service; It is a little slow sometimes to process some images, which does not happen when I am using my laptop's screen. It seems to require a lot more from my processor to run multiple windows at its 2560x1440 screen resolution than from my Asus 29".

Other Thoughts: I received the monitor in a box poorly packaged with a bent and useless CD inside. Visiting the homepage of Benq did not help much as only the manual is available for download. Therefore, I contacted Benq customer support to ask them for the files (Manual, Drivers and Dsiplay Pilot), after explaining what has happened to the CD that I received with the monitor. Surprisingly, I received an email with a dropbox link only to dowloand the display Pilot and besides to not have received any apologies for the unnecessary headache I was having due their poor packaging, the email from Benq did not have even a name for the person who sent me the link. A company that responds an email, by its customer service, without identification or name to a customer that has a good amount of money in one of their products is a little more than disrespectful and careless. Nevertheless, what made me decide to return this monitor was the fact that the USB ports were not working and the customer service told me that the drivers were not necessary for them to work and that it should work just connecting a USB cable from my laptop to the monitor. I have an Alienware R14 with Windows 7 Pro and it connects just fine to the Asus 29” monitor I have.
I had purchased 3 years warranty from Newegg, because I was afraid to have problems with this monitor in a few years, but not so many problems for just a week.
The quality of the screen is really good, but a few serious issues associated to the miserable customer support gave me no other choice rather than return and avoid longer headaches with this brand. Furthermore, I had to pay Newwegg to generate a UPS label to send the monitor back. In case it is defective, it is unfair to pay for the shipping and this is why the Newegg’s competitor is getting so much room on the market. But to purchase the UPS label from Newegg makes it way cheaper than send the product by yourself.
I have already generated a RMA and this unit is going back this week to Newegg. I will update this review as soon as I receive my refund from Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this monitor!

Pros: Fantastic color, great response time for a non TN, perfect resolution for the size, no dead pixels, no light bleed, touch controls on the bezel work perfectly, remote is great, solid stand that raises up really high, great materials. The speakers are actually not bad at all, I use them for my Xbone gaming.

Cons: Cost.

Other Thoughts: I've had many monitors and Benq has been the only company to always deliver a perfect product. The cost is a tough pill to swallow but it should last you as long as you desire and it delivers on every front. Gotta pay to play!

5 out of 5 eggsAll I can say is WoW!

Pros: Very outstanding monitor! I'm really pleased with this I'm seeing more objects and realastate that I though was not possible on a monitor like this! The ease of use, and any position is great. the wide screen gives me way better gaming and playability.

Cons: None yet

4 out of 5 eggsSolid value

Pros: - Largest 1440p display commonly available; good balance between size and PPI.
- Most affordable, and possibly best, display based on the AU Optronics M320DVN0 AMVA panel.
- Superb black levels and contrast.
- Virtually no backlight bleed and minimal glow.
- Good viewing angles.
- Input lag, while not completely absent, is much less pronounced than I feared and this display can game, even in fast paced shooters, without issue.
- Solid color reproduction with manual calibration or the right custom .icc profile.
- Minimal ghosting and low RTC errors with AMA set to "High".
- Very usable controls.
- Good collection of inputs.
- USB 3.0 hub and card reader.
- Very solid and functional stand.

Cons: - Out-of-box settings are poor: too bright, color temperature too high, gamma too high, etc. Not hard to fix, but still annoying.
- Backlight uniformity is mediocre; some darkening in the corners and noticeable mura at high brightnesses when viewed significantly off center. This isn't an issue for most content, but is still the worst aspect of this display, and the least fixable.
- Included cables are all 5' long and all inputs are on the right side of the display. Not one included cable would reach my tower, which is on the floor to the left of my desk (as it has air intakes on it's left side; most mothboards mount to the right). I have my own cables, but why the included ones aren't all at least 6' is beyond me.

Other Thoughts: As another reviewer has mentioned, BenQ's included color profile is probably not optimal. I would highly recommend reading TFT Central's review, and if you do not have calibration equipment of your own, give their .icc profile a shot to see if it's an improvement for your sample. As every display is different, it may not be perfect, but it was a significant improvement over the default profile for mine.

AMA should be left on "High". The "Premium" setting introduces a large amount of RTC artifacting/negative ghosting that is almost certainly worse than the very minimal motion blur it's supposed to fix.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lot's of real estate for the price, right resolution for the size.

Cons: Atrocious colors. Possibly colors can be balanced with third party utilities, but with BenQ .icc profile, or manually balanced, (even in advanced mode) under OS X, reds and oranges are still unacceptably bright. I guess color balance of the AMVA panel is why they call it CAD/CAM monitor.

5 out of 5 eggs32" 2560*1440 Pure Goodness!

Pros: 1) Resolution is perfect for 32"
2) Ease of access to ports
3) Sturdy base; allows the monitor to be positioned in any way desired
4) Color accuracy and various presets available
5) Capacitive Buttons light up when they sense hands
6) Really easy on the eyes
7) Gaming is really good too. Nice color reproduction

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: This monitor is hooked up to my 780ti. Tried out Thief and BF4 and they look gorgeous. Best monitor I've ever owned. Would recommend this to anybody in a heartbeat. So much real estate and easiness on the eyes that I've started to experience less eye fatigue. Good for designers, programmers and gamers. Thanks BenQ and thankyou Newegg for carrying this product.
