From retail to hospitality, Planar touch screens help put the "service" back in customer service. The expansive 17" display has a precise 5-wire resistive touch screen. This lets the customer service rep focus on the customer, or if it built into a self-service kiosk, the customer will find it easy to use.
The display has a VGA input with both a serial and a USB input for the touch interface. Integrated speaker let you program in audio cues and feedback. In addition to the stand there is also a 100mm VESA mounting pattern for wall mounting.
Much better than the alternative
Pros: Screen is very bright for a Resistive-type touchscreen and just the right sensitivity. Software included with the driver has all the necessary utilities and settings. Speakers included are OK. The warranty is excellent compared with another major manufacturer of touchscreens.
Cons: The driver isn't totally compatible with Windows 2000. It continually crashes one 2k box, but works perfectly on another after several initial reboots were needed to fully install.
Other Thoughts: Compared with the other major maker of touchscreens, the warranty is golden. I switched to Planar because the other maker does not have an advanced replacement policy, and requires about a month turnaround time to repair a touchscreen. Planar has advanced replacement, and in a commercial retail setting, downtime is not an option.
