2 out of 5 eggsGreat Picture - Can power it off!

Pros: Viewsonic has 24 hour tech support. The build quality was high, at least I thought. They get 2 eggs for 24 hours support.

Cons: This was my Christmas gift. I hooked up 2 PC's and the monitors wouldn't let me switch between them. The on screen display would not work, the power button didn't work.

Other Thoughts: I have never RMA a product to Newegg. I shouldn't have to $33 to return a defective product. Well see how it goes. And this monitor is out of stock now also.

2 out of 5 eggsInconsistent quality

Pros: Good color--if you do not get a defective item.

Cons: ViewSonic customer service was about as bad as it gets.

Other Thoughts: Before ordering, I called ViewSonic and asked what their bad-pixels replacement policy was. First I was told some number (was it 4? 17? cannot recall now--it's been 9 months!), but the person added, "But we would work with you." Eventually, she said they would replace it if it had dead pixels or uneven color, as my primary use was graphics work. The first monitor I received had some all-white pixels, one right in the center, with terribly uneven color in the corners. ViewSonic denied what they had told me before the purchase, then said to send a photo of the screen by email. I never heard back from them! Happily, NewEgg was outstanding and replaced the monitor with a non-defective one, which works well. Overall, I'd say it's not worth the risk and hassle.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: If you are sensitive to colors or image quality, than IPS really is worth the extra money. This monitor has made all the difference doing color correction work, and it's a good feeling to know I'm viewing an image or video the way the creator intended. For games, it works amazingly... I usually get comments how great the image is, and I haven't noticed any ghosting at all for the 1 1/2 years I've owned it.

Cons: While I wouldn't say the screen is dim, it certainly isn't the brightest one I've seen. It might be a problem if you're in a room with lots of ambient light.

Other Thoughts: Worth every penny, especially if you're livelihood depends on color accuracy and image quality.

4 out of 5 eggsNice IPS for price

Pros: LCD panel of IPS type at low price, unusual for IPS until recently. Better specs & actual visual experience than many other models in sub $300 range, here at Newegg.
However my favorite at this size STILL remains HP ZR22W! I bought this Viewsonic as an extra unit due to lower weight/better portability & 1" extra inch of size (23 inch) than HPZR22W (21.5inch). They complement each other, I can't travel with heavier HP ZR22W but HP's still my favorite in sub-24inch market.
Brightness only slightly higher (300nits) than my ZR22W (250nits) - as I work in the evening often, I am NOT a fan of "more & more brightness" fad that only results in your eye health problems later.
I work in dimmed IT rooms and love ergonomic subtle displays as opposed to obnoxiously bright models showcased in stores to attract "tools".
CCFL Backlight - uniform, no bleeding typical for inferior LED backlight!!
I may sound like an "environmental criminal" since CCFL contains mercury, but WLED is too bad.

Cons: None.
But my favoriute is still HP ZR22W.

Other Thoughts: if you also want HP ZR22W, which is also CCFL backlight (not inferior LED), BEWARE - there're 2 versions floating at Newegg. One is much cheaper (below $300) than another (over $300) - same thing, but one is a promotion. Search for "ZR22W" and see both, do not rely on "search filter here" as it only shows higher priced edition.
About backlight:
This Viewsonic is CCFL just like my other - HP ZR22W monitor. Note: there's another version of same Viewsonic but with LED, by comparison LG's brand come mostly with LED backlight.
Traditional CCFL is bad for environment (contains mercury) & limited in lifespan comparing to LED, but LED in consumer monitors is typically WLED array of inferior performance - backlight bleeding, uneven, and for a group of health conscious people as myself - we notice FLICKER at low brightness due to PWM frequency controller.
For professional work "old" CCFL is BETTER especially b/c better monitors including this Viewsonic use long-life bulbs (40-50,000 hours

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The ECO mode feels better on my eyes.

Surfing the web with a rotated screen is a FAR SUPERIOR experience. The built in rotation axis on this thing makes this kind of setup perfect (and easily adjustable). This is a huge bonus for programmers too.

The wide HD screen is ideal for watching hulu and the likes.

It has great viewing angles.

Cons: It's actually a little tricky getting used to the rotation. Give yourself a day to get used to it. I remember my initial reaction was "people actually do this?" but totally stick with it, it will pay off.

No paint tile for color matching

Other Thoughts: Rotated viewing thoughts:

You're going to end up stacking windows on top of each other. I put my web browser on the top, and I have terminals and text files down below. My mouse buttons have been tricked out for a long time to be able to close windows, and change tabs in my browsers (chrome, fire fox, opera). Doing this will be extremely beneficial to your overall productivity.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy it - now

Pros: This monitor gives you the correct color (*) across a wide viewing angle with minimal fuss.
It also includes four USB ports, tilt.swivel and height adjustment (with original stand).
Controls are on the front of the panel - nothing hidden or cryptic.

Cons: Blacks can be too black but this may be part of my video sub-system.

Other Thoughts: This is a good buy - for under $300 you get a 23" diagonal screen with super vide viewing angle and excellent color fidelity (*).

(*) - I use Datacolor Pro3 w/Spyder on a thirty day recal schedule to keep things honest. It works.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat IPS Monitor

Pros: I just ordered this to replace a 24" AOC I bought last week. This monitor is beautiful! Great colors, BRIGHT!, no ghosting, and zero color shifting. Great sturdy chassis, awesome base and stand! I cannot say enough about this monitor. Great great buy and best of all it's IPS!

Cons: Lacks an HDMI connection but this is a monitor not a TV so who cares? It's not LED but I'll take crystal clear, color accuracy, and being able to view the picture clearly from ANY angle over an LED any day.

Other Thoughts: I first purchased an AOC 24" and was so disappointed in how horrible the color fading was, I am very pleased to see no fading with this monitor. I'm one happy camper and you will be too if you purchase this monitor.
