3 out of 5 eggslove/hate

Pros: -fast refresh rate
-great colors
-decent black reproduction
-3D works well (and includes 1 pair glasses).

Cons: -looongest startup time i've ever seen.
-touch activated menu buttons impossible to see/feel in dark room.
-randomly shuts off
-randomly switches to different AV mode, not a big deal when watching Netflix but horrible when gaming!
-3D has severe ghosting issues, although this could be an issue with AMD HD3D software and not the monitor
-3D limited to HDMI, would like to see DisplayPort support (again, this may be a limitation to AMD 3D)

Other Thoughts: extremely disappointed with reliability of monitor. when it works it's pretty great, but the lack of support from AMD for 3D, loooong startup and random shutdowns ruin it for me. I would not buy again, and you can't since it's apparently been discontinued!

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't last too long

Pros: 3d

Cons: I've only had this monitor for a few months and it already broke on me. One side of the screen is brighter than the other, and it wouldn't go away even after I tried everything there is to try. On top of this not only does ViewSonic make you pay for shipping but they won't even send you an update on what's going on with the monitor, not even by email. The person I spoke to on the phone told me that it would take me up to three weeks to get the product back, (She had a heavy accent) In other words, hard to understand. This being said, I will never buy another ViewSonic product in my life ever again. I paid $450 for this monitor and the fact that they wouldn't even handle shipping is what really ticked me off. I had to pay $58 just to ship it due to the size. I feel like selling it when I get it back then getting something else.

Other Thoughts: All in cons.

1 out of 5 eggsBeautiful display, Infuriating issues

Pros: Beautiful images, beautiful color, buttery smooth unblurred motion

Cons: This monitor has no physical buttons and uses a touch sensitive panel that is completely smooth. It is impossible to feel where the buttons are, and there's no lighting on the symbols marking the touch spots. If you ever plan to use the monitor in a dark room, this annoyance might destroy your sanity.

Unfortunately the touch panel also seems to be rather unresponsive. Touching too lightly or too hard will result in the touch being ignored, even in a well lit room.

The major flaw is the automatic switching 'feature'. You cannot disable it. And if you have a blu-ray / dvd player / other device on the HDMI port, and a PC on the dual-link DVI port, the monitor will switch to the HDMI port every time your computer reboots (even a warm reboot), comes back from hibernation/deep sleep/or a powered off state. If you are ever tweaking bios settings on your computer or doing something else involving many reboots, this will make you insane. This happens even if the HDMI device is turned off

Other Thoughts: I should note that the problems I describe above, when combined, are horrible. If you restart your computer while in a darkened room, you need to feel out the position of the button marked "2" in order to switch back to your PC. And that button is near the center of the row of buttons, not as easy to find as the far-left "1" and far-right "Power"

If you unplug the power from your HDMI device, or physically disconnect the HDMI cable, the monitor no longer senses a device there, so when the DVI input goes blank for a fraction of a second during reboot, it obviously won't switch to anything else. So I'm now in the habit of unplugging my blu-ray player whenever I'm not actually using it.

For the buttons, I've now added little dots of poster putty about an inch away from the buttons I need to find so I can find them by sense of touch.

But I'm still really unhappy and wish I hadn't bought this monitor, regardless of how good it looks.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased.

Pros: Bought this to replace my ViewSonic VX2260wm because I was getting too much screen tearing in Sleeping Dogs video game, completely solved my issue and the visual quality is amazing.
120hz compliments my gaming pc very nicely.
Not much trailing and no dead pixies.

Cons: The black seems a bit lighter than usual, could just be the contrast difference as I am used to 20,000:1 instead of 20million

3D works great but the nvidia glasses are kind of uncomfortable during long use.

Other Thoughts: It could use a more sturdy stand, I have a shakey desk and had to move my desk up against the wall to minimize the shaking of the screen. Could modify something to counteract this but they could have made the stand a with a larger base.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor

Pros: Works great. Excellent picture quality. Nuff said.

Cons: -I had an issue where one half of the monitor became slightly darker than the other half (literally split right down the middle). Unplugging the monitor and allowing the capacitors to drain resolved the issue.
-Speakers are garbage. Don't buy this monitor thinking that you don't need to purchase stand alone speakers. Taking an egg off for this.
-For this price I would expect the monitor to support display port.

Other Thoughts: This monitor turns on and off automatically when the computer is started or shutdown. Most of the time this means that the start up screen is not displayed. Not really an issue but it can be an inconvenience at times.

5 out of 5 eggsAnd then he said, let there be light.

Pros: Sure it costs a tad bit of money.
Sure 3d is not all that exciting. (would like to try nvidia's new glasses)
It's a fairly large screen. I like the colors it displays. Everything is working as it should.
I like 100 Hz. I like being able to display over 100 fps.

Cons: (note, currently using windows 8 preview and the drivers don't install correctly)
The sounds sucks. I am sure the built in speakers are why you wanted this after all? I'd probably take off all the eggs for this but text sarcasm still is as terrible as it was in the 90's.

Other Thoughts: Would I buy it again given the choice?
Yes - I am very pleased.

Would I buy a 2nd?
No - I'd buy a cheaper 2nd screen for duel monitors. I only game on one and don't need 120hz nor 3d on a 2nd. To much money for extra's I wouldn't use.

Would I consider that 3d surround stuff with this monitor?
No - It is by noway large or bulky, but the boarder around the screen is to big for a multi-display set up. With over an inch between the pictures..

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Nice and big. Bright whites, dark blacks. 120Hz is fantastic. 3D is a great bonus. Only noticeable ghosting in any games is during very high contrast scenes, and even then it's barely a distraction.

Some say otherwise, but the touch buttons work fine for me.

Cons: Not taking an egg away for this, but occasionally after 3D gaming the monitor's focus goes out of sinc, making some of the on-screen test slightly blurry. This is easily fixed by pushing the auto-adjust button.

Other Thoughts: If you are purchasing this monitor for 3D gaming, do not be discouraged by how dark the screen becomes. A lot of people forget this... almost all games have a brightness setting in the options. Turn it up if the game is too dark for you!

Also, not taking an egg away, but the default color/brightness/contrast settings are kind of... warm. I adjusted mine easily to suit my taste.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected.

Pros: Easy to setup, works as intended. Keep in mind you can't do 120hz over an HDMI connector, the bandwith isn't enough. You get what you pay for, amazing monitor.

Cons: Price, and the fact that you can tilt the monitor but not raise it or lower it.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Display, Amazing features

Pros: 120hz looks amazing
3d works perfectly
Perfect size for anyone
Menu is responsive
Touch buttons
Full HD
Colors look great
Thin, stylish design
Included Glasses feel nice

BF3 and Skyrim look absolutely amazing in 1080p, 120hz 3D

Everything was packaged neatly and securely, and it came with everything you could possibly need for this monitor. I have read other reviews that say the menu is hard to navigate and to get used to, but I didn't experience this issue, and was actually surprised to find the menu to be very responsive. I did not even bother hooking up the speakers, because I have no intention of ever using them, although it should be nice if I ever needed a quick solution for sound. I did a LOT of research to find a monitor that had these kind of features, but still had good reviews, minimal common defects, and a decent price. This one fits the description perfectly.

Cons: Small amount of back light bleed on the bottom middle and bottom right. It's minor, areas are small, but noticeable if you're really looking for it. Viewing in 3D does make the screen appear darker, which is a little annoying if in a room with the lights on, but both these issues are not severe enough to dock an egg for.

Other Thoughts: I have never owned a 1080p display, a computer monitor newer than 5 years old, a monitor bigger than 17 inches, or a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor before, so I may be a bit more amazed at this than someone who upgraded from a plain 1080p monitor at 60hz. I would highly recommend this monitor for any gamer, or person looking to watch 3d movies in 120hz. It is worth every penny I payed for it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Great lighting
-Great, vibrant colors
-Easy setup and control panel

Cons: -A bit pricey when you just want the 120hz Refresh Rate LED monitor and don't care for 3D
-Takes a little long to light up on power-up compared to my old LCD, but nowhere near as slow as my 42" LG LED TV, so it's not that bad.
-Doesn't support a higher resolution than 1080p, but we all knew that going in.

Other Thoughts: So far the monitor's been great. I still debate whether I'm better off using the Native color mode, or the User RGB setting with all the colors maxed. I'm using the User RGB maxed right now. It came with no dead pixels or any problems. Was easy to install on the stand, and it sits quite firmly on the stand compared to my old Samsung LCD which wobbled like crazy.

The 120hz refresh rate works in games so far without a hitch. Tried it in Arkham City and Shogun 2 so far. Had to reformat so I haven't gotten around to BF3 or Skyrim just yet, but will soon. You should make a note though that Viewsonic recommends you never alter the Refresh rate in your Nvidia Control Panel. You should do it from your Windows Desktop settings. It'll automatically adjust the NVCP refresh rate after you do it in windows.

If you find the blacks to be too lit, just lower your contrast. Brightness and contrast start out very high by default.
