5 out of 5 eggsWonderful Gaming Monitors

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2452mh Black 23.6" 2ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 50,000,000:1 (1,000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: Purchased 2 for a gaming build. The color is set perfectly out of the box. In gaming scenarios they perform great. No tearing, no ghosting, no flicker. The larger size allows you to see details smaller monitors do not. The price for the product is better than most. I am using them with VESA mounts, and they feel well put together. I have multiple ports used, and the switching is automatic, and seamless.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The blue light at the bottom is really bright when the room is dark, but for aesthetics it looks cool. You really do not notice it while playing, but it does bother spectators. Since it does not bother me, the gamer, then not a CON at all :-).

4 out of 5 eggsViewSonic Quality is impeccable

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2452mh Black 23.6" 2ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 50,000,000:1 (1,000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: This monitor after assembly was just easy plug and play with HDMI, Phenomenal picture quality, but coming from a 17" HP basic office monitor, this monitor is huge!

Cons: No sound through the HDMI cable, even with updated drivers for both APU and Windows 10, need to use included audio analog cable! Speakers quality bites; with volume up on monitor and PC all the way can't barely hear anything, had to buy separate speakers for decent audio! Previous ViewSonic sound was extremely better!

Other Thoughts: Windows 10 x64
AMD A8 5600K Trinity APU Black Edition
8GB Kingston Fury Red
1 TB Toshiba 7200 SATA3 HDD
8 TB External Storage total via USB 3
450 Watt PSU
Samsung DVDRW

2 out of 5 eggsPretty Sure I was sent a Reject...

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2452mh Black 23.6" 2ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 50,000,000:1 (1,000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: Price/Performance Ratio
It's a monitor, not a TV. I does the job it was intended for.
The matte finish to the screen itself is nice and reduces ambient reflection from lamps or outside windows.
LED is where it's at, the power consumption is nice and low. I have no issues with the brightness of the screen except when a beam of sunlight is hitting it through a window, and I keep my brightness/contrast levels LOW.

Cons: Came without an HDMI cable.
Box was not taped shut and monitor did not have plastic over over the screen itself, which made me question if I was given someone else's RMA'd merchandise.
Had a single dead pixel in lower right quadrant. I would RMA the monitor but the hassle of shipping and waiting just isn't worth it.

Comparing this to the previous version (2450) the stand is absolute garbage. The base is the same size but the post is slimmer. Since it is made of plastic without metal bracing (in the post) I know it will break. There are only 2 types of plastic - plastic that is broken, and plastic that has yet to break. This stand/base is so weak the whole thing wobbles, and there really is no excuse for it when the previous model was so spectacular.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's delivery was really fast and arrived before I expected it to - and that's part of why I keep coming back.

I cannot express enough how disappointed I am in the dead pixel and lack of HDMI cord in the box. I'm pretty sore about it, and to be perfectly honest will think twice before buying another Viewsonic product or recommending others buy one too. Since I am the 'tech guy' for my whole group of friends/family I can tell you that Viewsonic just lost out on some serious business.

I find no problems with the color/etc - I keep both my viewsonic monitors (2450 + now 2452) at about brightness lvl 15 and contrast 20 (out of 100). I think ppl complain too much about their inability to adjust their graphics card and blame the monitor itself. This is NOT a plasma screen folks! Stop complaining about not being able to drive 100mph on a moped - you sound entitled and ignorant.

A lot of monitors (all brands) come out of the factory with brightness and contrast turned up near max, because they are tested this way before packaging and the factory floor workers don't turn it down before boxing it up. I suggest you turn down the settings as much as possible and allow your eyes to adjust to it, so you can prolong the life of the monitor. This goes for any monitor you buy, not just this one.

I don't know why so many reviews on this product give it a bad rating for color/etc. I always suspect reviews that do not give specific tech details when they are bad. I think they just don't know how monitors work with graphics cards or expect LED products to work like plasma.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid gaming monitor

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2452mh Black 23.6" 2ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 50,000,000:1 (1,000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: I got this monitor on a whim without really knowing a lot about monitors, and was pleasantly surprised. The Game Mode button bumps up the contrast, but also increases brightness, so blacks aren't as rich. It's great for gaming, though, especially in games with a lot of darkness. Turn it off and it's back to normal, with fairly rich blacks and less bright whites.

I've used it for a while and have no complaints.

Cons: The Game Mode bumps up contrast but drops the richness from darker colors, while turning it off gives much richer blacks but lower contrast, which sometimes makes borders between similarly-colored things hard to see. There isn't really a happy medium.

Other Thoughts: The panel type is TFT. For the life of me, I cannot find any information on TFT panels. I was hoping to figure out if this was TN or IPS so I could make informed purchases in the future, but it's TFT. What even is that?

5 out of 5 eggsJust Brilliant

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2452mh Black 23.6" 2ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 50,000,000:1 (1,000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: This ViewSonic VX2452mh blows away the Acer sitting next to it and plenty others I have had in the past. the colors are so vibrant, great price for a man on a budget but you feel like you get more than you paid for. the stand works fine who keeps messing with the stand and colors once you have made your adjustments, the reviews about the stand is irrelevant most companies on their budget monitors are like this as they have to figure out where to cut corners to keep it a budget monitor. all I know what's inside has got me excited. this thing looks great!

Cons: None! I tried to figure something that I didn't like about it and couldn't come up with anything, it looks fine!

Other Thoughts: I see reviews on how washed out the monitor is but I don't see that. sometimes I wonder have they been use to a $500 monitor and trying to compare this one. I think its all where you're coming from on the last monitor. I been buying those Acers and they stop working after a year and the vibrancy sucks. thought I would spend a little more money this time to see if I could get a little more use out of a monitor. I bought this because years ago I had a ViewSonic and always remembered how rich the colors were and how long it lasted. I made some adjustments and ended up very pleased with the results. I would definitely tell a friend to buy the ViewSonic VX2452mh
