4 out of 5 eggsPoor Finish

Pros: The display is very good even for PVM monitor.
Overally probably best 24" monitor under $2000 - not that much worse than L997 which are far the best quality graphic monitors under $2000 (maybe besides CG19 which is smaller though). Excellent conformity and nonexistent backlight bleed.

Cons: Poor finish - AWFULL buttons. My power button after being used for 1 month started showing signes of usage - it has become a polished ugly spot!!! The base is also not as it used to be in CG or L series monitors.
You can't sell a 3 month old monitor as it looks old!!! Common EIZO. That's what hiring cheap mainland developers brings you.

Other Thoughts: Eizo has become a mainstream company. They are going down as they started S-series. But they keep the premium prices so it won't make any sense to buy their monitors soon...

5 out of 5 eggsIf you are a Graphics nerd...

Pros: I am finicky about my graphics display, and delayed replacing my Sony 21" GDM-F500R because all the TFT displays looked lame when reproducing color and gradients in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. When my display started "blinking out", I did some research and found that Eizo was highly recommended, yet expensive. I figured that buying monitors happens every once in four or five years, and don't even know how long TFT's last -- probably longer than five years, anyhow. I wanted to get a more upscale Eizo, but due to budget limitations, I "settled" with the CE240W (white exterior).

Straight away, the color reproduction is better than my old Sony. And I can't really detect the greyscale gradient or color gradient banding.

In short, I do not regret paying the price for this monitor. If you are a graphics-type dude like me, you can't go wrong with this model if you're moving away from a CRT.

Cons: Well, price, but like I said above, if you are a stickler for graphics, this is worth the money.

Other Thoughts: I'm into graphics, but I'm a gamer, too. It is a pleasure to play first-person shooters on this machine. I've never thought about a Gama adjustment when playing Half-Life.

IMO, you won't notice too much of a different between the before and after display when using color calibration systems.

5 out of 5 eggsEIZO CE240W

Pros: Best wide-screen LCD monitor I've tried. I have a 23" Sony (no longer made) and a 24" BenQ. Both are outstanding, but this one beats them hands down. Looked at the reviews for Dell (lots of bad here), HP, Samsung, Apple, etc. Went with the three mentioned above for actual purchases and pleased with all three, but can't beat the Eizo.

Cons: Price. At double the BenQ for essentially the same thing, you have to be really picky and have a nice bank account for this one. I'd recommend the Sony, but no longer made.

5 out of 5 eggsBest LCD I have ever seen

Pros: Excellent color rendition, it is the first time I have ever been able to get an LCD to match my final printouts. I put this side by side with another high end LCD Display and while the second was crisp and bright, the Eizo was able to match my printouts which the other (my old standard) display could not. This is THE monitor for serious photographers.

Cons: Expensive, and it still requires a package of a Monitor Calibrator and Printer calibrator (this can be had for increasingly reasonable prices) However, once this is done, your monitor and printouts will come as close to matching as I have ever seen.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: I just picked one of these babys up a short while ago and have been very happy with it. Came off of a VP201 Vxxxxxnic which served me well but after 2 years it was time for a refresh.
Looking around at the 244T Sxxxxxng I found this monitor mentioned time and again. Things this one does better are 14 bit color, programmed for best color at factory before shipped out, electro static buttons, chassis design, oh and did I mention how big and bright and rich the colors are. I know the panel is made by sxxxxung, its the same as the 244t, but it has a overdrive circuit in it as well as a better backlight imho. I use it for gaming, no problems there.

Cons: Price. Unfortunately didn't buy from the egg because I had a deal with a local retailer for warranty money on my old one, but will be buying my new computer hardware from them in the next couple of months.

Other Thoughts: The unit is not cheap but well worth the price of admission. I know a lot of photo editors like this one. The only complaint I found with some reviews, which are slim at that, is that the monitor was a little brighter on the left side due to the mirror in the back and the size of the monitor. Evidently all 23 and 24" units are this way. However, I do not see what some are complaining about as I do find myself to be very picky on pixels and things like that.
