5 out of 5 eggsStill a great monitor

Pros: Clarity, colors, backlight uniformity, no dead pixels.
I have owned this monitor since they first came out. This was 2005 or 2006. It is now nearing the end of 2013 and it is still my primary monitor. I'm an avid gamer. 15+ hours a week on this monitor. Having a very difficult time finding a reason to replace it.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsInsanity

Pros: Unbelievable clarity and definition. Amazing color accuracy right out of the box. No ghosting, plenty of ergonomic adjustment options, composite connectors, PIP, just, everything is great. This monitor also has outstanding scaling. I even played Baldur's Gate II in 1024x768 scaled up to fill the screen. It worked without a hitch!! The monitor did all the work for me!!! No tweaks/hacks necessary.

Cons: Very slight backlight bleeding in the bottom center. Fixed sufficiently by lowering brightness. There are a few stuck or dead pixels (not sure which yet) - but scattered around enough as to be unnoticeable except in a test pattern. Even with test patterns I have to look very closely to find them. I suspect many "no dead pixel" reviews are simply not using the right methods to find them; a panel this big is almost guaranteed to have a few. Anyway, it takes 25-100 hours to break in, so we'll see how many I have left after that.

Other Thoughts: This is an amazing upgrade from a Trinitron 21" CRT. It's a brilliant display, and I wouldn't go back from widescreen for anything. I was concerned because I am well aware of the drawbacks of LCDs. This AS-IPS panel has brilliant colors, and great black reproduction for an LCD. Even with the obvious flaws stated above, this is well worth every penny. I highly recommend this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsHOTNESS

Pros: Nice monitor as ive noticed on my DVI input to the x1900xt card. 1920x1200 res is serious! No dead Pixels

Cons: Yea as expected, the price, nothing else so far.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this monitor to those who would helplessly fork out the cash as i have done.

5 out of 5 eggsOwned over 6 months now.

Pros: This is a follow up review from on down the page. I just wanted to tell anyone who is thinking about getting this monitor but thinks its high, to stop thinking and buy it. This monitor is the best monitor I ever owned and I am thinking of getting another one. I am running this one at 1920 by 1200 in full color and it looks awsome. I never knew even subpar graphics like in gta san andreas could look so good. I am running socket 754 with an AMD 3000+ 64 bit processor "OC'D to 2.5 Ghz, with 2 Gig of 500 DDR ram, and a radion X800XT. I got everything turned up except anti alliasing is on 2, and everything works great. But you should see some high res pics are a movie playing on this screen. Like the guy said below, the silver color doesn't get noticed, in fact it actually is a nice contrast against my black desk.

Cons: Other than that dead pixel none.

Other Thoughts: I might just get another one of these, I'll definatlly consider HP again. HP makes good monitors for sure. I feel I got a good monitor for my money.

5 out of 5 eggsSunglasses required.

Pros: Handsome, professional-looking piece of equipment.

Very bright and plenty of contrast. Bright enough for rooms with high ambient light levels.

Outstanding, consistantly-even colors and sharp text.

No dead pixels.

Cons: Expensive. (But worth it.)

Heavy - not suitable for flimsy furniture.

Other Thoughts: The ultimate home/business computer display.

I'll just sit and stare at it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I've had this monitor since 11/05 and have no problems at all and all of the previous coments apply. It's big, clear, sharp...ect bla bla bla

Cons: None! Well maybe...no usb ports. That would be a nice addition but no big deal, IMO.

Other Thoughts: Can't go wrong with this one and I'm thinking about buying a 2nd!!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor

Pros: This monitor has awesome resolution, great detail level and it's huge for a desktop monitor. I purchased this monitor for HTPC application and it's been working flawlessly. DVD and TV viewing is great considering the upscaling of the image. Came with all the needed cables and was a snap to install. Not a single dead pixel to be seen. Plus it has a 3 year warranty!

Cons: The black levels aren't very even when there's a completely black image, which is only a minor irritant. The only other gripe I had was the software that came with the monitor. The Pivot Pro software included on the CD is designed only for Win9x, which I found out after installing and my PC blue screened after a reboot. Luckily, an uninstall in safe mode cured that.

Other Thoughts: This monitor has been working great for my application. I'm running an XFX GeForce 6600 Heatsink Edition at full resolution (1920x1200) and have not had a single problem with video performance. This monitor may be small for someone looking for the "ultimate" HTPC experience, but if you're on a budget and want a great product, this is one to highly consider.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Brilliant Colors, High Resolution, BIG. What's not to like? Well...

Cons: Obviously, the pricetag. Also, the monitor appears to be top heavy; Mine fell over onto my keyboard with warning, shattering the display panel... Not for places the vibrate/shake...

Other Thoughts: Great Monitor, all said.
