5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Crisp bright screen. Big solid stand. Very attractive design.

Cons: A bit heavy, but the solid stand is worth it. Not a thin as some others, but the built in speakers probably have something to do with that, and they don't sound bad for built-ins. Glossy finish on screen can product lots of glare, not bad if you can control the light in your environment. Might be problematic in an office.

Other Thoughts: I also own a Samsung P2770H Rose Black, and I have say the HP is slightly better overall. I like the image a little better and I like the stand a lot better. The Samsung is more attractive when they are off, the rose black case is very nice looking.

5 out of 5 eggsIf you like glossy finish look no further!

Pros: This is a glossy monitor - if you like glossy finish look no further!

Excellent value for the price. My high-resolution images and HD video look spectacular.

Cons: Text can be a little ghosty if you sit close to the monitor – especially on the edges.

Other Thoughts: For image editing the monitor is somewhat questionable; it makes the images look TOO good! While a great display monitor I use a second to accuratly gauge what my clients will be seeing.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Outstanding display quality. Vibrant Colors. Installed the drivers and plugged it in with NO install issues at all. Very happy with this monitor, would buy a 2nd one if I needed it.

Cons: Speakers are WORTHLESS, but then that is not the reason to buy this monitor. Sound is VERY low and of no real use. Be warned, this is a GLOSSY style screen, and it will reflect ANY light source, so you will not like this is you have anything that might be reflecting off of it. In a dark or subdued environment its a great display.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor with a great price.

Pros: Bright as all get out with great contrast. Almost as good as my Mac monitor, but so much less expensive!

Cons: Speakers are not useful.

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointed - update

Pros: ...

Cons: ...

I just recieved the refurb under warranty and I have to say I'm somewhat impressed that it works at all.

Whoever packed the refurb for shipping used a box 6 inches bigger than the unit's original box - in every dimension. Of course the monitor shifted around due to loose packing. The box arrived with the bottom side up and the single strip of tape separated which had been sealing those flaps shut.

On, the bright side, the refurb DOES work as a monitor and I probably wouldn't have noticed the minor cosmetic damage (dings and dents on three corners) if I hadn't been looking for it after seeing the condition of the box. :)

I can't help wondering whether something might still fail down the road because of their bad packing job, but they've assured me the warranty would still be honored.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: Very clear picture.

Cons: Builtin speakers don't seem to produce the volume of even cheap stanadlone speakers.
Worse, a hardware breakdown after only 7 months, with a green bar running top-to-bottom about 1.5 inches from the left side. Okay, HP acknowledges it's a hardware failure and will replace with a refurb under warranty. Still, I'm used to monitors lasting longer than my systems so I'll be unlikely to buy another HP monitor.

Other Thoughts: Okay, maybe the fact that this unit's warranty period is only one year should have been a clue that this wasn't really the monitor for me. That's one detail that will rate much more importantly in my purchasing decisions going forward.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor!!

Pros: This monitor comes with a DVI, VGA, and audio cables already so that was a great plus. I'm running it off my MacBook Pro so all I needed was a MiniDVI adapter to DVI and I was off and running. I've read the speakers aren't that great but I respectfully DISAGREE. For what they are, they're loud enough for anything I need: I do graphic design.

Cons: None I can think of

Other Thoughts: Should make this in a 30'', that'd be great.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Picture

Pros: This is a great monitor no bad pixels. Bright and the way I like it. This is a huge monitor no room on my desk for 2 but with a monitor this size don't need one.

Cons: None this great got it quick from new egg

Other Thoughts: Order at special pricing the new hp monitor will be more for the same thing

1 out of 5 eggsThis is a TV, not a Monitor

Pros: Powers on

Cons: Largest con is that this monitor does not have any 1:1 mode for pixels. Meaning that a pixel doesn't translate to a pixel onscreen. The monitor has a TV-like "sharpness" control that causes the on-screen image to get processed and blurred, with no option to turn this off. This also really messes up any "Cleartype" capabilities in Windows.

In addition, as you start to look at the monitor from an odd angle, rather than just getting darker, the screen picture gets yellower, which is very strange and offputting.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this monitor if you do real work on it. This is a cheap grab by HP to repurpose low quality TV LCD screens.
