3 out of 5 eggsgreat while lasted

Pros: Beautiful picture. glossy screen I like. worked good for about four years or so. Many hours.

Cons: controller card went out. seems to lose charge, can't adjust settings. When sleeps, wont come on, have to unplug from back of set, and replug to play it.

Other Thoughts: most backlights die, mine still good.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks great for a short while

Pros: Looks great, works great until premature death.

Cons: Died after just a couple of years, like most other people said.

Other Thoughts: This was a great monitor for a couple of years, then it died. I'll elaborate on what "died" means: in my case (and what seems to be the case with most of these) the inverter board went out. That's what turns the backlights on. So when you shine a flashlight on your seemingly dead screen, you can actually see the dimly lit display working fine. The backlights are technically working, but the inverter board only lights them up for a few seconds, then turns them off. And to make matters worse, the inverter board is integrated onto the main board, so it's a pretty involved repair if you can find a replacement board, but the board is nearly impossible to find. I eventually found one for $85 plus shipping, and decided I'd rather replace the monitor.
Interesting side note: when you open up the monitor it says it's made by LG. The newer model HP 25" has great reviews, but on principle I just can't bring myself to replace this with an HP or LG.

3 out of 5 eggsworked beautifully for 3 years

Pros: lovely, big monitor for a reasonable price.

Cons: screen began to flicker during power up and the monitor proceeded to die

Other Thoughts: three years seems too short a time for a monitors life span but if it seems reasonable to you, buy a hewlett-packard

4 out of 5 eggsshame on you hp

Pros: Nice color contrast, picture, somewhat design, price...3ms GTG...full 1080P HD
Had this monitor for one and a half year.

Cons: Just died...so sad. It did a little flickering on the screen this morning with some strange noise like it's about to blow a fuse. Then died an hour after. My Samsung 22" monitor outlast this one by over a year and still breathing. What the h*ll HP...I gave you a chance.

Other Thoughts: I will definitely stick with Samsung monitor from now on.
Minus one egg for not being reliable.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor until long stretches of flickering started

Pros: It was a great monitor for almost 2 years.

Cons: Same as many other reviewers. After 22 months it started flickering for a few seconds. After 23 months it flickers for up to 10 minutes before it goes away. I pretty much get home from work, turn the PC and monitor on, and come back in 10 minutes to start using it. :P

Checked the cables, drivers cleaned and swept, installed latest video card and monitor drivers, tried running at lower resolutions and refresh rates, but no luck fixing.

Other Thoughts: Won't be buying HP products ever again.

1 out of 5 eggsWORST MONITOR AND SUPPORT EVER

Pros: It lasted for maybe 3 months before I started having problems with it.

Cons: Customer Support requires you to wait for a call back to setup an replacement. I waited for 2 weeks the first time. The second time they were suppose to call me back to setup the payment. I never received the call and after a month of waiting I called them and they said it was out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: Never again will I purchase an HP product, or recommend anything they sale. Lost a customer for life.

1 out of 5 eggsMonitor dying like many here

Pros: None a monitor that does not work really is not a monitor. Think carefully before you drop big money on any HP monitors.

Cons: Monitor is flickering and will not stop, back light going bad. Certainly I advise anyone to stay away from HP if you can. They released this product on us and take no responsibility when this inevitably happens.

Other Thoughts: Back light dead and dying....

2 out of 5 eggsBeware HP Support!!!

Pros: Pros: When it worked, it was an excellent monitor. For those who like the glossy look (based purely on preference), the rich color saturation made it perfect for movies and gaming. I had an HP2007w and replaced it with this after about 6 years, and is still working on another desktop with no problems to this day. For these reasons, I'm still willing to give the monitor 2 stars.

Cons:
Monitor exhibited notorious backlight flickering issue after 12 months of use. Took apart the monitor and made sure all connections were tight to the board, but the CCFL backlight itself seems to be failing, and the CCFL bulbs are inside the self-contained LCD enclosure, and are not readily serviceable by the end-use. The monitor will flicker anywhere from 60 seconds to 15 minutes before it turns on, and the flickering is lasting longer and longer with time. HP will not support the monitor as it is out of warranty.

Cons: Cons Continued: I bought this monitor for on clearance. When I called HP to purchase their warranty (14 days after receipt of the product, they refused to sell me the warranty -- they claimed that I could not have purchased the product new, as it was in "End-Of-Life" status. Now that I am having serious problems, they claim they don't even have a record of that call, and their "Executive Customer Relations" agent even flat out accused me of lying about trying to purchase the warranty.

Luckily, the original retailer stepped up to cover HPs grossly insufficient support and offered me a partial credit after all this time for being a long-time, loyal customer.

Other Thoughts: If you are ever going to buy an HP monitor, purchase a warranty through a third party, and don't even bother calling HP with any problems. You will be on the phone with India for general support, and their "Executive Customer Relations" for escalated problems is in Mexico. You will never be speaking to an American if you run into problems, and you will be met with hostility and disdain. I will never purchase their product again, which is shame since they are one of the only monitor manufacturers making decently, performing glossy monitors.

1 out of 5 eggsjust another hp product

Pros: great monitor

Cons: hp product. had first problem @ 11 months. didn't save the id number when i chatted with tech.:( was replacing video card in a month anyway and tought it was update problem. no it was inverter/lcd problem, but they wouldn't even give me part number for me to find replacement. out of warrenty. blew me off in several attemps to get part number.

Other Thoughts: wish hp wasn't so money hungry that they went out of country for service calls... they've made enough money off me for years, just to blow me off now! i'll just take my money somewhere else.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great monitor

Cons: last less than year. lcd screen or inverter went out in under a year.new video card updating drivers and tech support kept me from getting warrenty done in time to help. told so sorry...not covered.

Other Thoughts: same problem with other monitors from same system at least 3 other times. since i sell them, i wanted to talk but they were more worried about turning down warrenty, than telling me what the problem was. won't buy hp monitors again.
