5 out of 5 eggsGraphic Designer Perspective

Pros: I purchased one of these several months ago for one of my workstations, and just recently purchased another. I'm a graphic designer (for 25 years), spending most of my time on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Obviously for me, resolution, color accuracy and consistency (i.e. no light or dark spots, no fading from top to bottom) is very important, and this monitor performs beautifully. Pantone swatches look accurate. CMYK breaks are easy to decipher and have printed as seen on screen. I'm pleased, and I think the price is more than fair for this kind of quality. And, for someone who NEVER reads manuals, this took me less than five minutes to have up-and-running.

Cons: None thus far

5 out of 5 eggsReally good monitor

Pros: I bought this to replace my ols Samsung BW245, and man am I pleasantly surprised. I love the viewing angles, it's great for viewing your photos as the color reproduction is good, and I like how adjustable the stand is. I also use it to watch movies and play FPS games. Good monitor all around.

Cons: No real cons...read other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: My computer was off for over a month before I bought this monitor, and when I plugged this sucker in, the screen would go black almost as soon as I loaded a game. It turned out I needed to dl a driver for this thing...and it took me a bit to realize that. Also, this screen is BRIGHT, I went into settings and turned it down to 70% brightness. Hope this helps.

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor, could be better

Pros: + Image quality and color are great (for professional graphics work)
+ Only needed a bit of calibration
+ Price is pretty good for this quality

Cons: - Black isn't really very black even at its darkest.
- Takes about 10 seconds to switch on / wake up - annoying.
- If you run the cables run through the stand you'll still see them dangling below the monitor and they make it difficult to rotate the monitor 90 deg and back.
- Wish HP hadn't put their logo top center in shiny silver...

Other Thoughts: Got two of these to set side-by-side, used mostly for professional graphics work, not gaming or movies. Very pleased with the color quality and brightness once calibrated (other than max darkness). No matter what I do, I can't make my two monitors to align well using the stands that came with them in the box. I guess I should get a dual monitor mount.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST

Pros: IPS
Width
Aspect Ratio
The monitor's stand
and the integrated usb hub

Cons: "S"-IPS... its the lowest quality ips panel type and is usually exactly the same as the e-ips.

The backlight is extremely bright, with this said the backlight drowns out very dark darks and some dark midtones... Do yourself the favor and buy a colorimeter to adjust the screens settings to as close as perfect as it can get.

Painting in PS with a greyscale; values between 95% and 99% black are basically the same. A colorimeter will adjust this range to around 95-97, with black still not being as nice as the black from a plasma display.

No daisy chain hub

Bad RGB setting and it doesnt include a colorimeter

Other Thoughts: Amazing, just one of these can turn a laptop into a desktop. Perfect for digital painting, crazy amounts of real estate with the 1200p. Buy two more and you are officially a boss.

Keep in mind if you are buying from new egg... that you havent done your research. Although newegg is a great supplier, this monitor is now available from a bunch of sources for up to 200 dollars off newegg's asking price. overstock is just one, macmaII is another.

5 out of 5 eggsNicest monitor I've ever owned

Pros: 1920x1200 is a real improvement over full HD.
Really nice big picture.
Fast enough for good gaming.

Cons: Somewhat pricey.
Not 3D compatible.

Other Thoughts: I got upgraded to one of these at work, and liked it so much I bought one for myself to use at home. So far, it works great. I haven't found any bad pixels.

3 out of 5 eggsWell....not quite

Pros: Resolution
Color
Overall Picture Quality

Cons: 1st one had dead pixels
2nd one has some abnormal dark bands across screen
HP's CS sucks

Other Thoughts: I was 2 days out of returning the 2nd one for replacement and NE makes me have to deal with HP. I've only been shopping here since 1999.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: This is the 4th monitor and 3rd IPS panel sitting on my desk at the moment. Short story, this is probably the best 24" IPS monitor for gaming on the market right now - low latency, low input lag, and great image reproduction.

There's no ghosting with default settings (though there is some if you turn on Overdrive, but I don't use that). You could only get lower latencies (marginally) if you went back to the "high-end" TN panels, but you'll make a load of sacrifice in image quality. The side-by-side difference in image latency is perceptible comparing it to my 2-year-old NEC 2490WUXi (graphics design IPS panel), although I'm pretty sure the NEC would win for color accuracy if I took the time to hook up LaCie, and the NEC certainly wins in terms of sheer magnitude of OSD options.

Construction is sturdy, the stand attaches and detaches with much ease, as well as moves solidly.

Cons: I bought this from a competitor with a friendlier LCD return policy than NewEgg, and good thing - the first panel I received had some dead pixels which NewEgg probably would have balked at replacing under their draconian LCD defective-exchange policy, but the second panel I received is flawless.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg, feel free to let me know when you have a friendlier LCD exchange policy. When I buy top-end hardware I expect it to be flawless, period, and exchanged with no questions if it's not.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it, but I'm not an expert

Pros: I bought this because I couldn't live with the dramatic shift on colors/contrast when viewing angles change with a TFT screen. I bought the ZR24w because it's one of the lowest priced IPS screens on the market. I'm a happy camper, satisfied with the monitor in every respect, but ...

Cons: ... but I'm not an expert. I'd guess I've logged quality time on a dozen monitors in my computing years. This is the best, I think ... but I've never used an Eizo, and don't have the background of some of the system builders who log on to Newegg. Please bear that in mind when considering my review.

Other Thoughts: This is the first product I've reviewed on Newegg that I didn't buy from Newegg. I was placing a large order with HP anyway, and so decided to get the ZR24 from them at the same time. I usually ignore reviews that aren't from verified owners, so can't blame you if you choose to ignore this review from me. In your shoes, I might too.

5 out of 5 eggsPhenominal for the Price

Pros: The IPS monitor is truly amazing. The clarity of the 1200p screen also gives it that extra thump at 24'. Because of this, you will be able to see images and video in a really sharp format while not sacrificing quality or clarity. I personally do not notice any ghosting or lag on the screen and the colors are also very vibrant. Because of the IPS you can virtually view the screen at any angle and be able to see it just fine, there is no shadowing or loss of image from different angles of the room.

Also, the blacks are VERY good, but not quite as good as the Dell u2410. In a movie i can notice some noise in the blacks, but its still better than 99% of the LCD's I have seen.

Also the 16:10 contrast ratio is really nice, i am very happy it is not 16:9..

Finally, because it is an IPS, it has much less strain on your eyes. I was doing work for about 5 hours straight, and my eyes did not have any fatigue or problems do the LCD. If you are a workhorse, this monitor is for you!

Cons: its somewhat pricey for 24'

blacks not as good as competitor (Dell u2410)

the casing feels mediocre. Its not really that bad of casing, but i do feel at times the casing maybe could have used a higher level of plastics? (and metal brush in the middle)?
But that is not really a big deal

Other Thoughts: lots of inputs...

HDMI, DVI-D, Displayport, VGA......

If you use the computer a lot, the IPS is a very good investment. It will save your eyes in the long run.

For the price is this is currently one of the best priced IPS panels on the market!

5 out of 5 eggsThe best 24" Gaming Monitor hands down

Pros: Very Fast S-IPS Panel
Good picture and colors
FAST
GAMING MONITOR

Cons: None worth mentioning. See Notes.

Other Thoughts: This is the best 24" Gaming Monitor there is. I understasnd there is latency, and input lag. I know the difference. This has next to NO input lag. I replcaed my CRT with the HP LP2465 and I loved having a 24" LCD but did not like the 60ms Input lag which made me stop playing games for years. I had to use a 22" for gaming seperately. Now finally I can do everything from 1 monitor. No visible Ghosting, Less than 1ms input lag. It feels like being on a CRT. Great Picture, nice stand, and looks great. Only con, if any, is the slow switching between DVI and Displayport with my 2 PC's. If anyone is interested, there is a graphics card from nvidia that has display port out so you can run 2 computers off this lcd. N82E16814261073 The Palit card. Its great.
