5 out of 5 eggsbest for the money

Pros: clean whites, fov is better than a tn panel without the ips designation. Still a tn panel but plenty good enough for gaming and photos. All I could afford anyway, happy. No bad pixels. received cables also, classy IMO. replaced a 6 year old viewsonic with ccfl backlight that dimmed to non existence..

Cons: stand

Other Thoughts: non yet

3 out of 5 eggsIt was OK, but I returned it

Pros: Stand was not bad.
1200 vertical resolution was good
Energy efficient
Good warranty

Cons: For some reason the text just did not look good on this monitor. I have an Nvidia card and using the Nividia control panel i was continuously adjusting the monitor as to find the right brightness/contract/gamma.

At times it was too dark or too bright. I'm not a gamer but the extra real estate was a plus for web viewing/productivity.

Very heavy IPS glow. It also appeared that the viewing angle was less than the 178/178 usually found on these monitors. This is a 6 bit "economy" panel which differs from the more expensive 8 bit or higher panels.

Other Thoughts: The warranty if they honor it to the "t" was excellent. I read in some cases it does not execute as written.

I did not buy this from the egg but another major supplier who offered the same pricing.

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor, maybe not best for gaming?

Pros: Great picture, Very bright/vivid colors with LED Backlight. Good response time. I upgraded from a 23", faulty ASUS VH232H monitor (That was replaced quickly by ASUS by the way). Very significant increase in screen size going from a 23" 1920x1080 to a 24" 1920x1200 resolution.

Cons: I game a lot. I often have my games minimized randomly while in the middle of play and get the 'DVI Signal' pop up on my monitor. Sometimes this is due to other program seeming to take priority/precedence over my game so it minimizes it. Sometimes it just randomly happens. Never happened on my other ASUS monitor unless I Alt-Tabbed on purpose.

Other Thoughts: Ok, so I bought this monitor thinking 1920x1200 was going to give me more screen than 1920x1080 and technically it does in Windows, and most other applications. However, not so much or always for gaming.
It seems most FPS games go with 1920x1080 as the base/default resolution. I would think that if I went with 1920x1200 resolution I would see the same amount of screen in a game horizontally and a little more vertically, but most of the time that isnt true. Instead it stretches it and shows less at x1200 than x1080. I've taken screenshots in games to see the difference and I see a noticeable difference in less picture when in x1200 than I do when in x1080. Fortunately for many FPS games I can just change my resolution to 1920x1080 and it still looks great. Not that it doesn't look good at x1200, but i do see less 'horizontally' than I do when at x1080.
So while 1920x1200 shows more screen, like Windows Desktop background, it doesnt necessary show more screen in games. Such games I've noticed it showing less when at x1200 vs 1080: Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Farcry 3. Playing at x1200, you see less on the screen than at x1080. I manually change my game resolution in those games to x1080 and the quality is still great and as a bonus get a little more FPS than I would if I use the recommended x1200.

Also to note, if you use a program like NVidia Experience. You may not want to take the recommended resolution settings for some games, since it will want to change it from 1080 to 1200.

5 out of 5 eggsgood monitor

Pros: Sharp text, beautiful colours, low-glare matt surface, no dead pixels, excellent viewing angles. Plugged in DVI cable and input was auto-selected right away. A really good monitor for a reasonable price.

Cons: On-screen setup UI hard to navigate. No big deal.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to Thursday’s Asus VS24AH-P monitor review.

Pros: VGA & DVI yield excellent display.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I disconnected all my computer equipment and set it on the floor so I could clean off and re-oil my Oak desktop surface. When I put everything back together I had proper sound through the Asus monitor. I am not sure why.

Removing power = hard monitor reset?
Re-seating audio cables? -Doubtful since I tried multiple cables including the one that is working.

I wiggled both ends of the audio cable and couldn’t produce an intermittent. I tried a second cable and it appeared to seat correctly and produced proper sound through the monitor.

I’m at a loss as to why it suddenly started working but I’m glad it did. I will contact Asus if it acts up again

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Great image & color

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: I purchase this monitor to replace another monitor with a broken mount. This monitor is used on a Mac mini in a spare room. It does not get much use, but you have to have a working monitor. I'm so happy I purchased this one, everything is great about it and I would purchase another one in a heart beat.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to yesterday’s Asus VS24AH-P monitor review.

Pros: VGA & DVI yield excellent display.

Cons: HDMI audio pass through problem is with the monitor. I connected my computer with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 HDMI capable video card to my Samsung UN46B-8000 TV. The TV had plenty of volume.

Next I tried a computer with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 HDMI capable graphics built into the motherboard with the Asus monitor. Again sound through the monitor was too weak to be useable.

To eliminate a compatibility issue with NVIDIA I also tried a computer with an ATI Radeon HD5570 HDMI capable video card. This combination actually gave a little more sound output but the speakers still had to be turned up so much that the white noise was annoying.

Other Thoughts: Yesterday under Cons: Monitor wobbles on the stand

I didn’t have the tab on the end of the monitor’s neck seated in the base. Hooking the base over the tab & tightening it down correctly provided a lot more stability. More than adequate for this light weight monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsVS24AH-P

Pros: My Samsung 244T died yesterday morning (backlight wouldn’t come on). Ordered a new Asus VS24AH-P from Newegg Business yesterday afternoon and it was delivered this afternoon! 5 Stars to Newegg for speedy delivery.

Beautiful display with HDMI cable connected. Everything worked correctly with Ubuntu 12.04 & XP MCE. Windows 7 not-so-much (see cons).

Cons: Monitor wobbles on the stand.
No HDMI cable supplied.
No audio cable supplied (may be needed, depending on your setup)

When I hooked-up the Asus monitor with an HDMI cable Windows 7 automatically switched the playback audio to “VS24A-1”. To hear audio, you then need to connect a 3.5 mm stereo cable between the jack on the back of the monitor and your speakers. The monitor volume by default is set to 50% but even after entering the menu system and adjusting it to 100% the volume was still way too low to be useable. Don’t know if my new monitor has defective HDMI in to audio out circuitry or my NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 is outputting a really weak signal. I’ll try the computer with an HDMI input on my Samsung UN46B-8000 TV later and contact Asus if the TV has proper volume.

Other Thoughts: As I mentioned above, with the audio processor on the Video card enabled and adjusting the monitor volume to 100% the level was still too low to be useable. To work around this issue and not have to switch my audio cable when I booted into Ubuntu or XP I set the default audio path back to my soundcards speaker output.

1. Right-click the volume control icon on the bottom taskbar and click on "Playback Devices" to open the pop-up window for sound options.
2. On the "Playback" tab, select "Speakers" and then click the “Set Default” button.
3. Click "OK" to save the changes

This will reset the sound back the way it probably was before hooking up the monitor with an HDMI cable.

2 out of 5 eggsSpeakers not working OOB

Pros: Beautiful picture, sleek design compared to VW246-8.

Cons: Speakers aren't working out of the box. I just spent an hour testing various HDMI cables thinking that was the issue. I get sound when I plug my headphones into the audio port of the monitor, but nothing through the speakers. Yes, the speaker volume is turned up to max.

Other Thoughts: Wish it wasn't broken.

2 out of 5 eggsASUS VS24AH-P

Pros: 24" 16x10

Cons: Flimsy stand

Other Thoughts: Another Asus rebate issue. This is the second time I have sent a rebate to Asus, the first everywhere I tried to use the card it wasn't valid and now on this one they hadn't received the documentation. I will never buy Asus again. Thank you for narrowing the field, Asus
