Awesome monitor.
- Pros: The last reviewer obviously doesn't realize that LCD panels are designed to run at the native resolution (1680x1050) for crisp display; any lesser resolution will cause the monitor to "pixel double" up on some pixels in order to stretch the picture to full screen. This is the same with ALL LCD panels. If you want to run a lesser resolution and not have pixel doubling then you must set your video card accordingly (for nVidia cards anyway) and you can have that resolution displayed in a "box" - i.e., there will be black bars on around the area between the actual displayed picture and screen edge. The picture on this monitor is quite impressive, and the color via HDMI (via HDMI-DVI cable on mine) out of the box is phenomonal. There is some backlight bleed on the top on bottom of the panel on the unit I recieved but is only noticeable on pure black backgrounds. I am using this monitor for PC gaming and there is absolutely zero ghosting. The fine pixel pitch allows for very sharp images!
- Cons: Somewhat bright blue LED "G" symbol (power indicator) on bottom right of bezel; I don't mind since I actually am a G =P
In all seriousness this can easily be covered up if it bugs you.
No DVI port may be a con to some; however, since you can get a 10 foot HDMI to DVI cable here on newegg for TEN BUCKS (here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189057) this shouldn't really be a concern!
- Other Thoughts: Monitor is HDCP ready since it supports HDMI which is a plus to anyone with an XBOX Elite, PS3, Blue-Ray player, HD-DVD player, etc...
Also, my monitor arrived with a cracked bezel so I had to RMA the thing back to newegg. I paid almost $50 for 2day air shipping on this thing and it arrived broken; thanks UPS - I still hate you. 2 weeks later I'm still waiting for my replacement with no word from NewEgg customer service if my 2day air shipping is going to be refunded...
Great Monitor
- Pros: Awesome monitor, I use it for HD gaming on my PS3 and it looks great. No dead pixels, no ghosting, and cheap!
- Cons: No HDMI cable and the sound is clock radio quality.
- Other Thoughts: Just buy a $5 HDMI cable and use speakers.

- Pros: Crisp picture as long as you use it in the native res.
Great response times for games,all my games are crisp and awsome looking. I play Crysis and Wow the most though.
- Cons: Speakers not that great
- Other Thoughts: I replaced a Samsung 17" lcd and this is every bit as good as the Samsung I had.
Superb monitor
- Pros: This thing is disgustingly beautiful. The colors are very rich, and it is VERY bright at the maximum brightness setting. I have been used to a 17" WUXGA laptop screen, and I prefer this monitor even with the lower resolution.
- Cons: Lower resolutions (such as the resolution displayed during the boot process) looks very bad, with fixed width fonts being distorted. How well this thing displays higher resolutions negates this slight issue.
- Other Thoughts: I used this monitor for four days before removing the protective panel. The packaging the box came in ensured that the monitor was very well protected as well, and it shows. Not a single ding or other blemish as a result from my local UPS delivery service's careless drivers.
A+ Monitor
- Pros: Crystal clear picture. Fast Refresh. EXCELLENT IN HD. Can't say enough about how good this thing is.
- Cons: HD to DVI cable is not included and is relatively expensive at local stores ($50-$60). I would go ahead and either order one from Newegg or another online source since this drives down your overall cost significantly.
- Other Thoughts: I've been looking for a matching alternative to Apple's HD Cinema Displays and I must say that this thing definitely competes with their highly overpriced products. If you're even thinking about buying this monitor dive right in, you won't be disappointed.
