What hardware revision will the monitor be?
Will it be the A03?

I got an A01 an was concerned when it first arrived.  I decided to try it out and it seems to be working fine. I haven't had any of the issues described by other customers that reported on the A01 except it does nave light leakage around the bottom corners when the monitor is first turned on but dissappears when there is an image on the screen including watching movies.
  The picture is great and I've found no issues yet.

Question 2

The Dell U3014 Monitor features a display port input. Will that port drive the monitor at the full 2560x1600 resolution?

My PC has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 card and that supports the Dell U3014 at 2560x1600 nicely. I really don't know if the U3014 will act as a display for a small device like a phone or eee netbook at that resolution. I've had the monitor for something like a year now and it hasn't developed any peculiarities, so I'm pleased with it. A pair of them would make a nice layout.

hi is this A03 revision? if yes i will buy it. A01 and A02 have lots of problem~

According to the back of my monitor, the revision is A01.  I've owned this monitor since June 2013, and after extensive use, I haven't experienced any issues with it after playing a variety of games and movies with it.  I have a Hanns-G HH281 next to it and the difference in quality is immediately noticeable; besides the obvious lower resolution, the color palette is not nearly as deep despite tweaking the configurations.

If you want to wait for the A03 revision to become commonplace, go right ahead, but it might be a while as sellers are probably going to be emptying their old stock first (FIFO).

Will this monitor work with my Mac?

We are using the display with a MacPro 2008 and have used it with the MacBookPro early 2011 17" both via the Dual-Link DVI connection in MacOS 106 and 10.8 as well as Windows7 via Boot Camp.  The Dual-Link DVI port was the only way to get the 2560x1600 resolution.  HDMI, DisplayPort and MiniDisplayPort only produced 1920x1200.  The MacBookPro requires a third party adapter by Kanex (or the Apple one if you can find it) which runs $80-$100.  We had hoped to share the monitor between the two machines but with the hirez limited to the one port, that did not work.  Still, it is a handsome display with good picture which we got on a short lived killer sale.  That said, if I was in the market today, I would buy the Apple 27" instead.  No adapter required.

Question 5

I can find no definitive examples of the 3014 running full resolution of 2560x1600 via HDMI and Sandy Bridge HD3000.   Can anyone tell me what I can expect from an Asus H67/Sandy Bridge MOBO w/ HD3000 Intel graphics?.   No "displayport" available.  Asus specs state 1920x1200 for HDMI/DVI and 2048x1536 for DSUB/VGA.  Will the Dell 3014 deliver 2048x1536 via the VGA?  
Incidentally my 6 year old Dell 2707 provides beautiful 1920x1200 on HDMI, VGA, or DVI but looking for better resolution.   best regards - RS

According to Intel, you can run at 2650x1600 but you MUST use DisplayPort to get that resolution.  The HDMI/DVI will only support up to the 1920x1200.

You could definitely run the VGA at that resolution (2048x1536), but it wouldn't be native and therefore wouldn't look very good.

For the resolutions you're looking to run at I'd recommend getting an upgraded board or simply a dedicated graphics card to get the most out of the Dell U3014.

Question 6

Anybody know if this monitor is compatible with standard VESA mounts, or is it just Dell quick-release mount to the stand?

I want to run several of these PORTRAIT. I understand the supplied stand doesn't pivot and I will need to acquire an aftermarket mount. But the photo of the back does not appear to have standard VESA screws, so I wonder if this monitor can be used with non-Dell stands?

Yes, they are compatible. When you remove the factory stamd the VESA mount is revealed. I'm using an Ergotron to hold one one of these.

What revision is this monitor? Is it A4?

The one I purchased from Newegg is an A2, which some people reported having trouble with. Mine has always worked perfectly and has so spoiled me that I hope it lives forever.

what is display (viewable )  size ? height and width,  not overall size, not the 30" diag. size

25 1/4" wide, 15 3/4" high. I've had this one a year or so. Makes work a lot easier. Not cheap, but worth it to me. Very pleased with it.

Question 9

In the overview, Dell recommends buying a colorimeter to calibrate the settings properly. Is it worthwhile?

If you using it for work and you need to calibrate more than one monitor and yes, its worthwhile. Otherwise just try out the monitor and if you don't like it return it. For me this monitor sometime have a yellow hues for a 1 sec or so when the screen is all white or maybe there is something wrong with my eye. Its really don't bother me that much.

Does Dell support the 3-year warranty when bought from Newegg or Amazon?

Hi Peter, thank you for that. I've read some stories on here and other sites where Dell makes it difficult to service if you don't buy from them.  I have the U3011 (bought from them) and it was difficult then, too, when I had to have a refurb unit sent b/c of my power button not working.  With luck, I won't have any issues with the U3014.
