Question 1

How low can the monitor get on the stand?

My Aunt wants the monitor to sit at desk height (she doesn't want to change her desk!). So, I'm hoping the monitor can go all the way down! I know I can also do a VESA mount, just checking on the options.

Can it get that low? Thanks!

When dropped all the way to the bottom of the stand, the monitor frame sits just a hair over 2" above the surface of my desk. The base of the stand is about a 1/4" tall so the frame sits 1-3/4" above the base. Hope that helps. This is an absolutely awesome monitor by the way.

Question 2

I have a mac pro mid 2010 with mini displayport connection.  Will this monitor work with my computer?

I'm guessing it will, but I use a windows computer with Win 10 so I don't have experience with your equipment.  The mini display port is between the two regular ports in the middle of the input panel.  Dell includes a cord with a mini plug at one end.

You may want to check with either Apple or Dell to see if drivers in your computer will drive this monitor.  I talked to Dell about some minor problems getting Win 10 to recognize my monitor.  The tech I talked to was very helpful and knowledgeable.  Within 3 days of that conversation, Dell released an updated driver package for Win 10, and all has been fine since.

It's a nice monitor, but I do photoshop and page layout with it.  No video.  If you're working with moving images, my experience is of little use to you.  Hope what I offered helps.

Is this a semi-glossy screen like the 5K version? Not flat dull matte like so may today?

No, it's not a glossy screen, it's matte but still great colors

is this a VESA monitor?

Yes. If you remove the monitor from the quick mount stand, and remove the four screws, you'll be able to connect it to a VESA stand.

does this monitor support G-sync? I've read that as long as both your graphics card and monitor have display port 1.2 capabilities, it can utilize the g-sync.

No this monitor does not support G-sync, and that information about DP 1.2 is false.  G-sync will typically add $400 or so to the cost of a monitor due to needing proprietary hardware from Nvidia and typically will have a refresh rate of 144hz.  Unless the monitor specifically states G-sync support and costs $800+ for 1440p/IPS it probably does not support it.

Question 6

I have been unsuccessful at plugging in my apple keyboard with numeric pad to the USB ports... am I missing anything? Is anyone else able to plug in their apple keyboard to the display successfully?

You must also connect the USB cable from the monitor to the computer, in addition to the video cable.  The USB is just a 5:1  USB 3.0 hub.  If in doubt, test by connecting the keyboard to another USB 2.0 or 3.0 hub, then that hub to the computer.

My GTX 550Ti video card has 2 DVI and one mini-HDMI port. Will I need to purchase a mini-HDMI cable to connect this monitor?

Yes, it has no DVI ports. Newer monitors like this tend to emphasize Displayport.

Does this monitor let you daisy chain multiple monitors together using mini-display/display port?

Yes, your video card must support it.  The monitor firmware on screen menu will let you enable display port 1.2 for the multi link to work to one additional monitor.
