Q: What is the Max. refresh rate especially using the HDMI 2.0 on this monitor???? Is it 60hz or 80hz???

Question 1

How is this screen to use?  Has anyone tried it yet?  I would love to get you feedback - thanks for your help!

I'm in love with 21:9 now.  I spend most of my time in Photoshop and having so much room is great.  There's room to have a 1080p image up and also a website or other app open beside Photoshop.  It's also the perfect aspect ratio for gaming.

The curve really is subtle and I can't say I even notice it anymore.

Question 2

The display comes with a mDP to DP cable, will that drive the panel at its full res and refresh rate using the mDP input on the display and the full DP on the graphics card?

Yes, it will.  At the moment, I am displaying a desktop PC using the DP side of the cable, into the U3415W using the mDP port at 3440x1440.  I am also running a laptop into the monitor using a separate DP-DP cable going into the full sized DP port on the monitor, also at 3440x1440.  I switch the monitor between PC's using the buttons on the lower right front of the monitor.  I believe there is a way to display both PC's at the same time using different inputs, but not if they are both DP.

Question 3

I currently have two 24-inch monitors side-by-side on my desk, how is this going to compare? I'm trying to get a mental image of size. Is the height going to be about the same? Or is this more like having two 17-inch or maybe 19-inch monitors together?

These are basically the same as 27" 1440p (like u2715h) monitors height-wise, but with an extra 30% width... I replaced 24" 1920x1200's with these recently and the heights were pretty close (but those are a little taller than 1080p since they're 16:10)... overall one of these feels roughly like 1.5 1080p 24" monitors side by side (just a little taller). The actual width is just under 32.5" and height about 14".

Assuming money is no problem, would you recommend it to play with a PS4? (almost exclusively)

This display is absolutely impressive, stunning & awesome!!!  I moved up from a 27" Dell (bought through Newegg.)  
After using this display for over 2 weeks, I'm not quite sure that a 31 1/2" actual size (side-to-side measurement) is BIG enough!  Kidding, just a little...  
This display is quite the conversation starter...no one can walk by without commenting positively!  
Not a gamer but I find that the refresh rate of this screen is quite slow.  I think somewhere around 40Hz - noticeably SLOW.
Also, the refresh rate appears slowly due to the very large size of this display.
For fast-action gaming, I would suggest that you purchase a display that is at least 60Hz or higher to avoid the motion blur.

Is this monitor wall-mountable or must it remain on the desk stand?

It is wall mountable.  The stand uses the VESA mounting bolts.
This would look good wall mounted.  The curve isn't that dramatic.
The monitor is really awesome!

Is the screen matte/anti-glare or is it gloss?

It is most definitely matte, without question. However-It does have a tiny bit of that gloss-like property, and I mean a tiny bit.

I'm not sure what you mean by different sessions... but you can easily fit two applications side-by-side without any problem. I came from a dual monitor setup; both were 21", and you lose a little width by having them on one screen instead of individual monitors, but not enough for it to be a problem.

Question 8

I have the understanding that most of these curved ultrawides have slight distortion to the image, described by many as stretch picture doe to the curve.  How noticeable is it on this model?

I never really noticed a distortion like that, however it may appear distorted from a funky angle (not a normal one you'd use it at, like from above and to the side or something).  If looking straight on you barely can see the curve (the curve on this is about 12 degrees, that's why the  viewing angle says 172 horizontal, the edges are tipped in 6 degrees).  AFAIK, the samsungs have a much more defined curve.

The only real image distortion thing I know of with these is if you look at say the right edge of the screen with your eye far to the left (like with the monitor positioned to your side) or vice versa, some of the pixels on the edge (like the scrollbar for a full screen window) magically disappear... I think it gas something to do with the bezel/finish.  This isn't an issue for normal use, but I have 2 of these with a 27" in between them and can see it on their edges.

My laptop has an integrated "Intel HD Graphics Family" card. Will it work with this monitor?  I have a display port if that makes a difference.

Hey, yes, this monitor supports display port so that should be fine. What you need to look into, is whether or not your graphics card is powerful enough to support the native resolution of the monitor, as 3440x1440 can be very demanding.

That being said, if your notebook is reasonably new (< 2 years) you should have no problems.
