5 out of 5 eggsSurprise! Zoom works where Moto fails

Pros: The unit is appreciably smaller than either the L****** or M******* units. I like that. I also like the cheaper price tag.

Cons: I do worry about the claims of Zoom devices going belly-up after some time. I'll hold on to a spare modem for safety's sake. I doubt I'll ever need it.

Other Thoughts: Got the call from Comcast that my DOCSIS 1.1 L****** modem was being fully deprecated and unsupported. I first purchased a M******* and spent an hour on the horn with Comcast tech support to learn that unit was DOA.

Fast forward to this Zoom purchase. I took it home, called up the tech, and was back up and running with DOCSIS 3.0 in less than 5 minutes.

1 out of 5 eggsDead After One Year

Pros: Good While It Lasted

Cons: Didn't Last

Other Thoughts: I've had a multitude of modems, routers, and similar items over the years. I have only replaced them when I wanted to upgrade to the newest technology and have NEVER had one of these items quit on me - until now. After having the Zoom 5341 Cable Modem installed for one year and 9 days, it just quit. No lights, no power, nothing. It just completely died. So on a temporary basis I reinstalled the Linksys modem I bought in 2003. Internet was back up in minutes and, other than slower speed, this 8 year old modem is going strong. This is why I never write reviews until I know a product will have a reasonable working life cycle. Zoom didn't! Won't buy another Zoom product ever!!

2 out of 5 eggsFail

Pros: Looked pretty slick. Software allows user to watch in detail what it's doing.

Cons: Attempted to bond to TV channels. Failed to bond to Charter internet channel repeatedly. Worked on occasion but failed more often.

Other Thoughts: Make sure your ISP supports this modem.

1 out of 5 eggsBack to Motorola

Pros: DOCSIS 3, Cheap, Gigabit Ethernet, ends there.

Cons: Very slow to sync (if at all) with my Charter service. Problems with DHCP service when direct connected to computer. Took me a day to trouble shoot to determine the modem was defective. Returned for a refund.

Other Thoughts: I probably got a lemmon but would not buy a Zoom product again. Could not buy from Newegg because I needed it right away. Found a Motorola locally which works great.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied!

Pros: No hassle, no install.
Don't have to pay cable rental, which is 9 bucks in MS.
Cheapest and best rated out of big name modems.
RELIABLE. NEVER HAD ANY PROBS SO FAR for the month and a half I got it so far. No disconnects.

Cons: They're really aren't any. very simple build. maybe it would be nice to have it laying flat?-Maybe.. but i like it find standing.

Other Thoughts: I've really never heard of zoom, but it has good ratings, and I agree with the good ratings. Best value for your money...

1 out of 5 eggsHmmmm...........

Pros: I bought this back in April, and finally found the time too hook it up along with a new router. That's where the good stops.

Cons: Set it up according to the instructions, called Comcast and gave them the Mac and serial#s. They said IT WON'T WORK. The reason? They said they don't have the provisioning codes necessary. Asking how can they be had they came back with no answer.

Other Thoughts: So now the questions are; Did I get a moron tech? Are they conning me, not wanting to give up that $7 a month modem? Is is this thing a total lie on the part of the maker and Comcast. Both said it would work, or I would never have plunked down the money for it.

5 out of 5 eggsBombdiggity

Pros: small works great - with comcast (utah) supports docsis 3.0 fairly easy set up - i did have to push and hold the reset button to get it working - to recognize my router. I did have to have comcast come and change a filter up on the telephone pole to get the filter change that blocked internet signals, but now it works great.

Cons: nothing to complain about - very lightweight - so if you have a thick or strong cable attached it may not stand on it's own very well... it may tip or want to sit crooked... but who really wants a heavy router? smaller is better right?

Other Thoughts: Didn't have to pay for comcast's home installation... still wonder if comcast does something on their end to make it very difficult for you to set up a modem/router combo...

5 out of 5 eggsIgnore My Lasr Review

Pros: ***My last review was for the Motorola Not this modem.***

Works very well. No issues with Comcast Xfinity internet. I pay for 12/2 package and consistently get 22-25Mbps dl and 3-4Mbps uplaod.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My previous review was supposed to be for the Motorola SB6120 Modem. NOT this Zoom. >< I don't know how I managed to mess that up, but I did. This modem works great on with Comcast.
