1 out of 5 eggsnow windows 7 ready

Pros: cheap

Cons: drivers stopped working a month after install - unkown device. Tried drivers from disk and did not work. Downloaded drivers from rosewill site and when it launches I get all question marks on everything. Tried re-downloading and unzipping with several programs all fail. Tried compatibility mode and failed. Rosewill support site only has RMA as an option, but without drivers won't matter how many modems they send. Rosewill will ask me to call - they aren't open when I can call.....can email but they don't read the emails - they just email you back to call.

Other Thoughts: This is for a kid, not reliable enough for a business as a fax line. Too bad worked great for exactly long enough to not be able to return it......bad return policy...30 days.

Should have bought a 3com usb - had several - never had one fail yet.

4 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Pro Works. Windows Fax and Scan does not.

Pros: Works with Windows 7 Pro 64. Easy USB plug and play install. 64-bit driver on disk. Windows update recognized the device and downloaded an updated driver.

Cons: Doesn't work with Windows7 Fax and Scan.
Nit pick here = The model number (RNMO-11001) on the box disagrees with item model number (RNX-56USB-AG) on the modem and in the product listing.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these to use as data/fax modems with Windows 7 Pro. It works but not with Windows Fax and Scan. For some reason on two different machines neither modem would receive a fax. I could send but the receive would simply give up with an 'unexpected error' while negotiating. I decided to look for another fax program to try and found 'Classic Phone Controls' software on the install disk. Gave it a try (had to disable the answering machine part) and it works fine for fax reception. Then I added it to scheduled task at startup without logon and it receives and prints without logging into windows. Exactly what I needed for one machine. Tested EssentialFax before looking to the disk and it worked fine also, so the problem is something with Microsoft Fax and Scan. Perhaps an init string would fix it but I couldn't find any thing about it with Google. (and didn't care to continue searching after the included software started spitting out faxes).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Windows XP or Vista Modem

Pros: Quick and easy installation for Windows XP, remember to read & follow directions on CD before installing modem, restart after installation (something that should be done after any installation)

Cons: Not a con if you are installing on Windows XP or Vista but installation instructions on CD only for Windows XP and Vista (32 bit and 64 bit for both OS) not sure what instructions to follow for installation on other Windows OS

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: It works. Seems to connect faster than Conexent based modems.

Cons: Windows 7 driver is on the Microsoft update site so you must be online to install in Windows 7. The Windows 7 driver does not appear to be on the CD or on the Rosewill site. The box is labeled RNMO-11001 not RNX-56USB-AG.

Other Thoughts: Once you get online in Windows 7 installation is simple.
