4 out of 5 eggsBest mouse I have ever used still!

Pros: This is still the best mouse I have ever used and it's from 2008!
Perfect fit for small handed righties!
Great wheel that spins just right and has the added 3 buttons which can be used easily!
It has 2 side buttons that come in handy!
This is a 4 1/2 rated mouse to me. It has to loose a 1/2 for the horrible inner button placement, although I'm not so sure where else they could have put it?

Same exact mouse after going through 3 new keyboards because of wear!

You think it would be the other way around.

It's still supported in Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8.1 as well.

I know other mice have even higher DPI numbers but you really do reach a point of excess that is meaningless in gaming!

Nice USB cable that's cloth covered and has lasted forever!

I'm still surprised that the weights have stayed in place all these years!

I have only seen one mouse that I was considering buying and it's a wired optical with more buttons and is under $50.

Cons: The inner second side button is so difficult to reach it's almost useless!

It can be used but I practically have to stop everything to move my hand to reach it, which makes it a big compromise!

Most games will not recognize the scroll wheels side to side buttons!

The software is useless now with Windows 7 and 8.1

Other Thoughts: Although this is a dated laser mouse I picked it up for only $40 when it sold new for about $100 back in 2004!

It's not the best mouse for extra buttons but it has one nice side button along with a great wheel that has 3 buttons top push, and side to side.

This is by all accounts a one of the best and first laser mice ever designed and works great after 7 years of use!

I have read all the reviews about the new versions of the Logitech laser mice and they certainly do not last like this one has.

The new laser mice designed by every company will not hold up for more than 2 years tops!

Razer, Logitech, Corsair, and all the others just don't have the build quality of this version.

This mouse works just as well as the first day I bought it!

This was the first and very copied personally weighted mouse!

My friend can't believe how fast this mouse can move when he gets on my computer for normal operations!

He's like "How do I slow this mouse down?"

Now I have this so perfectly weighted and the speed set so perfect that head kills in COD are so easy I max that out in every game within a couple of hours!

In the same CODAD game my friend on his PS4 took until at least half way through the game to reach the head shot max!

I have always hated those stupid PlayStation controllers although they are still better than the Xbox controller which is a joke to me!

I am so use to this mouse that anything different would feel very foreign in my hand.

Mice have gotten much cheaper as well as going back to the optical realm for some of the better gaming mice.

I don't understand it but I do understand that I get plenty of DPI with this laser mouse and don't need any more.

The best $40 I ever spent on a mouse at B.B. discontinued sale of more than 50% off!

I never thought I would still be using the same mouse while I have now gone through 3 different keyboards because of wear!
One Eclipse with blue LEDs, one Cyborg (Same exact keyboard with red LEDs), and now a new mechanical keyboard that I just bought in December of 2014!

5 out of 5 eggsTough Nut

Pros: A real tank, I picked this thing up in 2009 for competitive FPS twitch gaming. It has been slammed with nerd rage, with a forearm that was well worked (this mouse cleans up easy too) 5 years later its just as crisp, not one button has ever given trouble and every light still works just fine.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Well worth it, a beast of a mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsStill my favorite mouse

Pros: I purchased this mouse in 2009 (i believe), and still to this day, 5 years later, it is running great. Tracking and precision is excellent. I use it all the time for FPS games, and in editing photos in Photoshop. I can tell a difference in tracking precision immediately when switching to any cheap starter mouse most computers come with.

The 1000Hz polling rate it much better than the standard 125Hz, and helps make it very responsive.

I really like having the option to customize the weight of the mouse.

2000dpi is more than enough for just about anyone. With the windows sensitivity set around half, I almost always use the mouse at it's default "middle" setting of 800dpi. Smooth, precise, and I wouldn't really want it to move any faster.

Cons: While the mouse tracks very well on my black wooden desk, it sometimes struggles a tiny bit on other surfaces (rough wooden table, fuzzy table cloth), but that is to be expected. It is still very good, but the difference is noticeable if you are playing a game that requires very precise movements. Also, I expect every other mouse on the market would also suffer from slight performance drops on less than ideal surfaces.

Besides that very minor annoyance, it is an all around great mouse.

Other Thoughts: A few reviewers have mentioned the braided cord fraying or getting damaged... After 5 years of near daily use (often multiple hours a day), the cord still is in great condition with no signs of damage in the near future.

I am in the process of choosing a new mouse for my second computer, and I am worried that whatever I get will have a very tough job comparing to my old reliable G5. I love this mouse, and it has served me well through many a long COD gaming session.

Newer mice often come with higher dpi settings, but this is mostly a marketing ply, with little real world improvement. The only reason I can think for getting something with a higher dpi, is if you intend to set the sensitivity in windows to a very low setting and run the mouse with a higher dpi. Even then, I doubt I would see any real performance gain.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, but Out of Date

Pros: Lightweight, super smooth, and amazing precision. I have had this mouse for almost six years and have never had a single problem with it. I will be buying a new one soon for the simple fact that exterior design is suffering from normal wear and tear, but the actual internal functionality hasn't let me down a single time. I would recommend this mouse to anybody and everybody, I don't have a single negative thing to say about this product besides the fact that it's obviously a little outdated.

Cons: This mouse was released a loooooong time ago, so obviously it's a little outdated. It's like comparing a razer cell phone with an iphone today. There are other mouses that have been released lately that are much more updated for the current day and time. Regardless, if you are on a budget and you can find this mouse for cheap from a retailer who still sells it, I would get it in a heartbeat.

Other Thoughts: Overall, great mouse. Would suggest to anyone, but it's just a really old school mouse. If you are looking for a mouse that's not too complicated, reliable, and durable, this would be my number one choice to you.

5 out of 5 eggsRIP, friend.

Pros: This mouse is excellent. I've just had to order an upgrade and I pray that it's as good as this mouse has been to me. I've had it almost 5 years. Very reliable.

Cons: Only thing is that the dpi buttons started sticking, but it's old so it might just be dirty now.

Other Thoughts: LOVE this mouse. I wish I could get it again, but I ordered a G500s; maybe it'll be similar..

5 out of 5 eggs5 years and 5 months

Pros: All

Cons: 0

Other Thoughts: As of writing this review, I've had this mouse for 5 years and 5 months. It still works, it's still a great mouse. But I believe it will soon be laid to rest. It has a short in it which makes it work pathetically and aggravatingly. I would repurchase this mouse if it were available. I love you, mouse!!

5 out of 5 eggs4.75 years, still strong

Pros: I know you can't get this on Newegg anymore, but it's great.

* Love the pattern, although it's getting worn
* Fits my hand well
* Has been a real champ for the past 4.75 years
* Great DPI. No skipping in first-person shooters
* Mouse buttons still work like new (except side-tilt scrolling)

Cons: * The cord is a little stiff... it still has bends in it from several years ago
* Side tilt of scrollwheel is getting a little loose
* I would have designed it with more teflon surface area where the thumb and index finger rest because that's worn out while the pad closer to the wrist still has plenty left

Other Thoughts: Bought this March 2009 and have been using it actively since. Turn off "enhanced pointer precision"/acceleration in Windows to get super-precise pointing. It has adjustable weights which I don't care about; sometimes I'll put them in, sometimes I'll take them out.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mouse

Pros: Excellent for grip style. Bought in 2007 and was still using it. However one of the skates get damaged after 6 years.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It is unfortunate Logitech discontinued this. It is my understanding that G500 are not up par with this. But I have no first hand experience myself on this.

5 out of 5 eggs5 years and counting..

Pros: No need to go into this again.

Cons: I paid $75.00 for this mouse back in 2008, if you want one now its going to cost over $150.00. Not sure why Logitech decided to discontinue this model, the newer models are nowhere near as good.

Other Thoughts: Have had this mouse for over 5 years and it still works flawless. They sure don't make them like they used to!
