5 out of 5 eggsThe Lou Gehrig of Mice

Pros: I bought this in October 2007. It's now December 2014. I am still using this, heavy duty, every day. I take it apart every six months to get out the dust and grunge. The logo wore off years ago, and now some of the dark gray plastic top coating is coming off as well under the palm area. But it's still the best mouse ever. If you run across this at a flea market or garage sale or online, do not let it get away.

Cons: I'm starting to lose some responsiveness on left-direction scroll (it seems slower than the right direction scroll) from the ball, but it is 7 years old.

Other Thoughts: Yes, I know this comes in a wireless model, but since it stays in one place on your desktop, who needs wireless and the hassle of batteries? I suppose I'll have to upgrade eventually in another 20 years or so, after this one and the spare I have wear out.

1 out of 5 eggsNice design died quickly

Pros: I like the ball and right left clicks. Very easy to use.

Cons: Became junk very quickly. Considering a standard mouse costs ten bucks and lasts forever, this is a very bad deal.

Threw it out.

5 out of 5 eggsmake more

Pros: mine has lasted 8 years of gaming abuse and recently the scroll wheel stopped working I blew it out and works again

Cons: the ONLY reason I can see for discontinuing this product is that corporations relying on planned obsolescence for profit want to get rid of long lasting well made products

5 out of 5 eggsLove these - buttons are their only weakness

Pros: Thumb-based trackballs are great. I can't figure out why on earth they stopped making them. You can only find them used or for $300 on various sites.

They're great if you have carpal tunnel or tendonitis from regular mice. They're very precise (as long as the ball and mounts are CLEAN), and they're amazing for any kind of file manipulation work or for autocad.

The mouse fits the curve of my medium-large hands, and I can use my fingers for clicking and my thumb for moving. These are the best thing that's ever happened for computer-human interface IMO.

Cons: They're no longer being made/sold new - this seems to have been true for several years. There is a wireless version available, but I don't want to bother with batteries. I like wires.

When the teflon mounts the ball slides on get dirty, it tends to lose short-movement precision. Popping the ball out and cleaning the three spots is pretty easy, but I have to do it almost every week with only moderate use.

Over time, the buttons stop working (they can be fixed).

Other Thoughts: To fix the buttons:
There are two long, thin pieces of plastic - one in the switch, and another on the flexible button your finger touches. Eventually, the plastic will dent/wear on the one not attached to the switch.
You can patch this if you're careful - you will need a sharp knife and some ABS pipe cement.
The indentation should be obvious, and you can simply trim some plastic from another area of the button and glue it over the part that's indented. Worked like a champ on a different mouse I've had since 10-ish years back, and worked on this one too.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Mouse EVER!

Pros: Once you get used to the trackball for gaming, you will never go back to having to move your whole hand/arm to game. Just a flick of the thumb to move. It is the best. NO MOUSE PAD!

Cons: Not really made for gaming. I've gone through about 3-4 of these in 6yrs, but I would not trade them for an optical mouse any day of the week.

Wish these were $5-$10 cheaper, they've been around awhile.

Other Thoughts: Might get the wireless "blue ball" version to get rid of the cable tying me to the USB port.

Logitech Logo wears off pretty fast.

1 out of 5 eggsSerious software issues

Pros: great design. comfortable.

Cons: scrolling and dragging issues that Logitech is aware of, but unable or unwilling to fix. Google it "Logitech mouse problems"

Other Thoughts: I have owned Logitech products for years, and I am brand loyal -- but to have problems with mice and trackballs? Isn't that Logitech's bread and butter?

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Product

Pros: I was told to find something that feels comfortable, I tried this for a few months, and now I can’t bring myself to even use anything else. I am in love with this product. I use it for first person shooters and the improvement to my reaction time is unreal.

Cons: Any regular mousse will seem clumsy and annoyingly awkward after just a few months of using this product.

5 out of 5 eggs2002 and going strong

Pros: Still using the same 2 I bought in 2002 (one OpenBox from a local B&M Chain Store). Although being optical, the accuracy isnt the greatest, for FPS games there is nothing better.

Cons: Once you use one for a few years, it is very hard, if not impossible to use a standard mouse.

Other Thoughts: Buy the Wireless Laser one (Blue) for like $10 more instead. This is a great 'mouse', but the Wireless Laser is even better.
