Logitech Wireless Mouse M505 (910-001321) Black 3 Buttons Tilt Wheel USB RF Wireless Laser Mouse

Pros: I love the size, and the mouse functions well on all surfaces except my glass desktop. I knew that from the start, so that was not a big deal. This mouse was bought to accompany my netbook that I use for international travel, and has been to three continents.

Receiver started shorting out middle of Fall 2012. Had to wiggle it to get it to be recognized by the computer. No big deal at first. I just had to find the angle that it wanted to be recognized at. Now, after a few months of putting up with this, I have to wedge a paper clip in next to it to get it to sit in the USB port well enough to recognize the mouse. Otherwise, the computer only recognizes it for a few minutes before the receiver decides to stop working.

Other Thoughts: Lasted almost 3 years, and has been good so far. Tested all USB ports on both my computer and my wife's computer with the receiver, and got the same result, so I know it is not an issue with the computers. The receiver has spent its time either plugged into the USB port or in the receiver storage well in the battery compartment of the mouse. If getting 2.5 years out of a mouse is good enough for you, this one is good. If you want something that lasts longer, go for something else.

Pros: The small form factor makes it easy to pack up and travel with. I've been using this mouse for just over a year and have yet to replace the batteries, as well. I spend an average of 30 hours a week using the mouse.

Cons: As some others have reported, the mouse has started registering all left clicks as double (or more) clicks. This means that you can't click and drag anything, and often applications are opened by single clicking. The multiple registering of one click to many effectively makes the mouse useless.

Other Thoughts: I like the mouse, but seeing other people having the same problem with multiple clicks being registered is going to put me buying a different replacement. This is the first mouse I've owned that went defective after just one year.

Pros: Replaced after 1.5 years from Logitech, was using the mouse and the optical laser died, so since there was a 3 year Warranty I talked to Logitech and got a replacement sent

Cons: Requires 2 batteries, but have never needed to change them while using them for 1.5 years until they broke

Pros: Form factor - not as small as classical laptop mice, not as big as classical desktop mice. Just right.
Weight - relatively lightweigt. It does not stick, and so even very tiny, precise movements are easy.
Battery capacity - don't even remember when I last changed the battery. Would estimate is easily lasts for half a year.
Design - just looks slick

Cons: I would have been happy ever after, but then....
After about a year, the buttons deter. You click them once, and the button registers a double click. You cannot imagine how annoying it is if you
- click on a window title once to bring it into the foreground and it maximizes
- drag a window on the screen and it suddenly maximizes
- select text when the buttons suddenly loose contact, text selection stops, then starts again and you end up having selected only the last part of what you intended to select
- click on an item once to select it or rename it, but a double click is registered and some application starts up and open the document
- the list goes on and on
- select text

Other Thoughts: This clearly is a flaw that originates in selecting cheap material and parts. Logitech is a brand that got renown for their quality, looks like the current managers choose short term profits over long term customer satisfaction. I am definitely one customer lost and not recommending them anymore.

Pros: I'm so mad at this company right now...

Cons: The middle click is broken on the cheap-sauce mouse. I'm not even using it for gaming, I'm just doing web research!

Even when this mouse was working, it has a feature where it goes to sleep if you haven't moved it within 10seconds. It's extremely annoying. You can't disable this feature.

Other Thoughts: I gave them a 5 egg review on my 2nd day of having it for the ergonomic feature and the tilt wheel... I'm so mad at this company right now...

Pros: When it works it's great. I had it running with a Logitech keyboard and getting rid of the wires from both with just a very small USB unifying device is very nice.

Cons: I've had two of these mice and neither made it past a year.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a wireless mouse I suggest looking elsewhere. These mice can be a bit jerky if you have a busy workstation. I only used it on a general use computer because it wasn't reliable enough to use on a gaming computer. Well, maybe Internet Checkers but not much else.

Pros: The mouse has a tight wheel which is HUGE. Unfortunately, you can't rely on the software that Logitech outputs. It won't let you map application specific behavior, only one global setting. Logitech's software and drivers has always been dicy, but this is very surprising feature loss... I wonder if they even realize what's going on.

Cons: Must install 3rd party software, such as "X-mouse button control" because Logitech's software is laughable. The settings/configuration files have always been a supreme mess, differing from each version of windows.

The mouse goes to sleep after about... 5 minutes or so of not being touched. It takes about a second to begin responding again, which has proven to be really annoying because I'm accustomed to locating the cursor on the screen as it moves.

Other Thoughts: Map the tilt wheel as...

Firefox and Chrome: ctrl+pgup and ctrl+pgdn for to make tab navigation more effective.

Eclipse/etc.: ctrl+left and ctrl+right to make going back to the last file you were looking at much easier.

It would be nice to have a thumb button for window closing, but those buttons are always too far out of reach to be all that useful anyway.

Pros: This is a fantastic wireless mouse with extremely long battery life. I have kept the thing on since I purchased it and my battery is still at full capacity. Quality of the mouse is great and its ideal for portability.

Cons: None so far.

Pros: Fits well in the hand.

Battery life is great.

Cons: Scroll is very inconsistent. Sometimes the scroll won't work at all and other times, it will scroll fine.

Laser tracking is terrible. Not sure what it is but the mouse does not make a very good connection with the USB receiver. The mouse cursor will sometimes move slowly and then randomly speed up to it's configured setting.

Other Thoughts: I expect a mouse to have quite a bit of precision. It is infact, one of two plug in peripherals that provide interaction between the user and computer. Unfortunately, this Logitech mouse does not make a good connection with the USB receiver which causes erratic behavior. I would highly suggest you take a look at another mouse.

Also, I contacted Logitech regarding an RMA and did not get a response back. Terrible customer service means they'll never be getting my money again.

Pros: Works on lots of surfaces, has a good range, looks nice, easy to grasp, decent battery life, easy to navigate with, customizable button layout, unifying software lets me connect the mouse and keyboard to the same USB receiver.

Cons: Gets dirty easy. Sometimes the signal goes out for brief periods of time in the middle of games but I don't know if it's because of interference from the dorm rooms or lack of power from my motherboard...

Other Thoughts: wish it had a mouse-keyboard combo
