4 out of 5 eggsWorks great, when set up right.

Pros: HD video, 4x pictures. The settings on the software are pretty comprehensive, too. See other thoughts.

Cons: Auto-focus. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Do NOT use auto-focus on this thing. It's a great camera with excellent quality, and auto-focus loves to remind you of that every 15 seconds by re-focusing *no matter what*. Manually focus your image before doing anything on Skype/recording with it. You might have to tweak contrast settings and turn off auto-exposure as well, depending on what you're doing; that setting is really sensitive as well. When you get it all configured, though, it works wonderfully.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks great! mcardo99

Pros: The cable is roughly 1.5 feet. That's a pro for me.
The camera is appealing to the eye and small
Video quality is clear and sharp

Cons: Auto-focus is very sensitive. Takes about 5 secsonds.
Does not stand on it's own. It clamps to a laptop screen instead.
The microphone does not work with the Playstation 3, the ps3 will detect it but one must choose a different audio input for chatting, such as a headset.

Other Thoughts: If someone has any of these lifecam HD series that fully work with the ps3 please message me mcardo99 gmail

3 out of 5 eggsStay focused

Pros: Nice picture, great mic, some funny effects

Cons: The auto focus sucks so bad. It refocuses everytime I breath.. and when it does, it makes an audible noise that is picked up by the awesome mic

3 out of 5 eggsCapable but flaky drivers/install.

Pros: Very capable, rez, refresh built in mic and the PQ is astounding for a webcam.

Cons: The autofocus is very touchy and hunts, so most capture is fuzzy. It can be turned off in the installed software. Gets hot to the touch, other have nitoced frame dropping after long calls. Might be related.
Had an awful time with driver in Win7x64, it took a handfull of uninstalls/reintalls to finally get the cam registered and working fully in all programs. Even at that I can still only get 3fps in YIM. I haven't figured that out yet.

Other Thoughts: It's capable and a good price, but seems a bit to bleeding edge for MS for my taste.

5 out of 5 eggsLaptop Version

Pros: The audio and video on this camera is very high quality.

Cons: I didn't see anywhere that this was a LAPTOP version of their camera. I had used the HD-5000 for 6 months at work (excellent camera) and bought two of these 6000's for my mom/dad and I. Doesn't clip to a regular flatpanel and the cord is super short.

Other Thoughts: The 5000 and 6000 seem to be practically identical, but this one really is setup for for a laptop. If you're on a desktop (especially if your machine is not right next to your montiors), get a different model.

5 out of 5 eggsWebcam replacement for internal laptop cam

Pros: Used this to replace the internal cam on my laptop and am very, very pleased at the noticably higher video quality, particularly in both color rendition and varying light performance. What I did not expect was the superb audio quality. Almost everyone I've had conversation with since purchasing has commented on the improved audio quality of our conversations.

Cons: Would have liked better Skype integration. Have trouble making AV adjustments, particularly dynamically dropping resolution for webchatting, using the included software when using the webcam in Skype session. Autofocus, while wonderfully accurate, is horribly slow.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for the video quality of the higher end $100+, this probably isn't the right choice. However, if you're using your webcam for day-to-day video chats, for the price, the video quality is excellent and the audio will blow away your audience.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad at All

Pros: + Captures 720p Widescreen Videos (16:9)
+ Shoots High Quality Stills
+ 360 Degrees Rotation
+ Portability (Fits on a notebook or on a desktop monitor)
+ Truecolor Technology is eye candy
+ Install Automatically with Windows 7 (Plug and play)
+ LifeCam 3.0 Software is easy to use and very useful
+ Well packaged with carrying pouch included

Cons: - Auto Focus can get annoying
- USB Cable is short (for a desktop use)
- 30fps is more like 25fps on 720p mode
- 360 Degrees mean 180 to the right or the left

Other Thoughts: Took out one egg because the Auto Focus can get annoying for average users... The Auto Focus has a tendency to focus so much that when you get close to the camera or move around, well, the auto focus will do it's job and will reset and become blurry to fix the picture... This can get annoying when recording videos... A very tiny problem nonetheless...

Also took out 1 egg because I use this for my desktop and the cable is quite short for most desktop setup... I understand that it's a notebook webcam which means portability but "come on Microsoft"!!!

The 360 degrees tilt as advertised is technically a 180 to the right or the left... Can't fully turn 360 degrees all around...

Overall, this is one of the best HD Webcam for this price range... One of the best ones I've used or tested... Found it at a cheap price. Got it on sale at Staples for $24.99 plus tax so no real complains (sorry Newegg, I still love you, LOL)

I highly recommend this product for any one looking for an HD
