Microsoft 6CH-00001 USB 2.0 LifeCam Cinema

Pros: A very compact and effiecent unit, easy to install and W7 recognized it off the bat and downloaded the software. It was up and running in 10 minutes with just a few minor adjustments for lighting and resolution.

Cons: No cons at this time.

Other Thoughts: after using the M$ 1000 640 X 480 for 6 years the difference between the 2 is like night and day.

Pros: 720p, clear, autofocus, easy to install.

Cons: None Yet.

Other Thoughts: Got this as a gift for my mom for mothers day.

Pros: Clear picture, easy in program recording, responsive auto-focus, crystal clear audio

Cons: Stopped working 3 months in. Hasn't moved from its spot on my second monitor and one day just stopped working. reinstalled drivers and lifecam software, system restore, everything I could think of.

Tried to get a fix from microsoft but I got the "restart your computer, reinstall drivers, check the forums..." run around.

If it still worked, I'd give it 5 stars. But seeing as its a paperweight....1 star.

Pros: Tremendous quality compared to everything else I have used.

Pros: It's got excellent HD quality video at full 720p and takes decent still photos. My sony camera takes much better quality stills, but I just use this for the webcam video on Skype calls and it was surprisingly better than my much more expensive Logitech webcam.

Cons: The only thing I didn't like is that it does a lot of autofocus in and that sort of effects the lightening quality of the video. It wasn't so bad that I felt it was worth docking an egg, but overall a great camera for its price.

Pros: Nice video. Identified by most computers I have plugged it into so far, including my Fedora 16 desktop at work.

Cons: One reason I purchased this is that a similar Microsoft Live cam bought only a few months ago had a threaded socket for tripod or other mounted use. This model does not and I just can't see whey that decision was taken. Perhaps this is actually an older model? I didn't think so. Regardless, -1 for no threaded socket.

Pros: Camera works great and the integral microphone works perfectly with Skype Minutes. The camera mounting seems to work everywhere.

Cons: Since I have to pick a Con - it's too expensive.

Other Thoughts: You won't regret this purchase.

Pros: Skype really looks and works great. Wish I'd have done this sooner.

Other Thoughts: I liked the first one so much I bought a second.

Pros: Wide field of view, great colors and fast response make this a great video conferencing camera when you need to get a wider and deeper field of view.

Built in microphone is pretty good as these things go.

Worked on my mac out of the box

Cons: While it worked on my mac out of the box its default setting is SUPER BRIGHT. Thats great at night but with any daylight at all the picture washes out immediately and the Mac can't deal with it out of the box.

Fixed this with iGlasses, a 3rd party tool that intercepts the video stream (seamlessly) and lets you tweak the settings. It then remembers these settings and whenever you use the iGlasses camera it will apply them to the video stream in real-time.

Other Thoughts: So, 4 stars because I had to buy a piece of shareware to get it really working on my Mac properly but I really recommend this low-cost HD camera, its a great piece of hardware.

Pros: The pros with this webcam is pretty impressive. A simple plug n play was great. No need for a cd. Very low power consumption which can be plugged into a front USB port and fairly fast install. Did I mention HD 720dpi? The Microphone was really good as well and also the little add-ons (like adding a 3D hat image to you) were pretty cool. Still needed work though.

Cons: MUST have internet for Windows Live Essentials. This was one of the few downfalls this had. On the receiving end of the user (using Skype), they did mention studdering between frames, but can also result a latency issue.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very pleased with this webcam and you will not be disappointed in it. Well worth the $50 (on sale).
