Nothing gives you more freedom than a wireless mouse, and it's hard to beat the frenzy of wired play. The Razer Mamba brings you the best of both worlds, with the ability to switch between wireless gaming nirvana, and the powerhouse rush of wired play.
Featuring 2.4 GHz gaming grade wireless technology, the Mamba communicates on a large number of 2.4 GHz channels to avoid those with a lot of interference. This maximizes the resistance to wireless static, minimizing it to almost non-existent. The 1 ms polling rate allows the mouse to respond to your movements almost instantaneously. By connecting the Razer Mamba via its USB cable, it converts into a wired mouse – free you from battery life worries as the battery is charged while you play.
With the world’s fastest 5600DPI Razer Precision 3.5G Laser sensor, move with lightning speed and precision to easily escape from becoming prey. The Razer Mamba also includes a host of features like an on-the-fly sensitivity switch, battery life & DPI stage indicator, and Razer Synapse on-board memory that lets you store and bring your gaming profiles, macro strings and commands wherever you go.
Pros: Unbelievably good tracking. Doesn't seem like a wireless mouse. At least I cant hardly tell the difference between wired/wireless. Yes, its that good. Tested it right off the bat w/ FEAR 2, and i couldnt tell that it was wireless, theres literally NO lag. I'm VERY impressed razer pulled this off. Docking station is cool. Mouse shuts off after a minute to save the battery. Move it and it comes back on. Good weight to it, perfect and fits my hand well. I dont have big hands either. Very similar to the deathadder, almost identical. Overall, a very good mouse, well worth the money spent. Kudos to razer for a very good product.
Cons: There's a silver lining under the mouse where it says 'precision laser sensor 5600DPI'. THAT ALONE is what is causing people to complain about the jittery cursor. It was the same problem/jitter with the lachesis untill i took it off, and no more jitter. Email razer support and they will send you a teflon replacement ring FOR AROUND THE SENSOR and walaa problem solved. BUT, this is something that SHOULDNT have been overlooked by razer. They should have not bothered with the silver ring around the sensor and just placed the teflon ring there and they would have saved a lot of complaints about mouse/jitters since this the the MAIN reason its getting so many complaints and bad ratings.
Software is limited. No more scroll speed, or advanced settings like double click speed etc like in the previous razer mouse software. Software has taken a step back in features. Hopefully they will include the former features in future releases. 4 eggs, not 5 because of the silver ring jitter is
Other Thoughts: READ THE MANUAL that comes with it FIRST before you do anything with the mouse. Make sure to do the firmware update AFTER you install the drivers. VERY IMPORTANT as this solves some issues. The doc isnt very clear on their website in how to update the firmware. Plug ANOTHER mouse into the system and update the firmware on the mouse FIRST (WIRED MODE) then the docking station SECOND, because the mamba will be unusable until the firmware is updated and you have to use the other mouse to navigate. Its a snap, and just takes a few minutes. Dont be fooled by the 'pull tab' plastic piece like i was where the battery goes. Its made to make battery removal easier, but i misread it and almost made it so i cant remove my battery lol. Luckily its EXTREMELY hard to remove. Dont let the jitter complaints discourage you about buying the mouse. Email razer customer support for a teflon replacement. Yes, it jitters some, but very fixable though, the end user SHOULDNT have to do the fixing.

Worst wireless mouse (G7 is better for wireless)
Reviewed By: Pyro on 4/7/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: This mouse has almost all the bells and whistles a mouse can have.
It can be connected via wireless or wired. Good button placement and button tension.
Cons: This mouse is marketed for people who want a wireless gaming mouse. It is the most expensive mouse on the market with many options and features.
However, this mouse fails on the two most important features... it's wireless radio and it's laser sensor.
Let's start with it's wireless option. When connected, the mouse is virtually lag free. The problem is that it freezes every now and then. More so when installing applications but it has frozen on me in games (just for a second and then comes back).
Aside from your mouse completely dying, freezing is the worst problem a gamer can experience with their mouse.
As far as the laser sensor is concerned, it just sucks. The problem is that it is too close to the surface and is at a funny angle. This causes the cursor to jump (large distances) when the mouse is picked up. In addition to that, the mouse just isn't as accurate as others I have used (Logitech G9) regardless of being wired or wireless.
Other Thoughts: I actually purchased two of these from my local Best Buy (one for me and one for my girlfriend).
Mine was absolutely horrible in terms of the laser. The cursor was jumping all over the screen regardless of what settings I had on the mouse or what computer/port I had it connected to.
Her battery wouldn't hold a charge to save it's life.
We returned both and got two more. Mine second one was a lot better but suffers from a red blinking light when charging (Razer support says there will be a firmware fix for this). However, the laser sensor is still awful compared to my G9.
Her new mouse was having the same problem as my old one, the cursor was all over the screen.
We returned hers for the last one they had in the store. Now, both of ours are working but the overall quality of the mouse is still poor.
For the most expensive mouse on the market, you would figure Razer would have put a lot more time and effort into these mice.
You may have some interference in your home causing both your Razer Mamba and G7 to have problems in the wireless mode. You may want to see this FAQ regarding ways to reduce this interference. http://help.razersupport.com/us-en/resolution.asp?sid=035529090409076176015064&pid=400000274&pnm=Razer+Mamba&seid=400000836&pos=Windows+XP&top=&rid=400000843
The reason Razer Support asked you to make sure your Mamba was connected directly to the main board on your computer is because the Mamba needs a powered USB to operate correctly. A non powered or faulty USB hub may cause some problems when using the Mamba in the wired mode. For more on this please see http://help.razersupport.com/us-en/resolution.asp?sid=035529090409076176015064&pid=400000274&pnm=Razer+Mamba&seid=400000836&pos=Windows+XP&top=&rid=400000632
Also please be sure you have the latest firmware installed on your Mamba. You can download the latest FW at www.razersupport.com.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Looks fancy, nice simple design. Blue LED. Nice weight.
Cons: Everything else. Save yourself some money and skip this mouse. I made the purchase because I wanted a high performance wireless mouse, and the aspect of being able to charge it while still using it is what led me to make this purchase. From the moment I plugged it in I have had non-stop troubles. The mouse's form is awkward so I end up holding it on an angle. The thumb button is way too easy to accidentally hit which causes issues on webpages. The battery life is about a day of use vs Logitech's weeks of use. Swapping from wired to wireless and back is a hassle. It takes upwards 3 minutes to recognize that there's a mouse there. Lifting the mouse off the pad and placing it back down causes the laser to stop responding for up to 5 seconds. The cursor seems inconsistent when moving, moving either large or small gaps randomly. The configuration software takes up to 2 minutes everytime you make a change to the mouse settings.
Other Thoughts: I HAVE FLASHED THE MOUSE WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE AND HAVE THE CORRECT DRIVERS. I'm sick of Razer telling everyone that it's a driver or firmware issue when it's not. I made a huge leap of faith with this mouse after hearing everyone speak highly of Razer's mice, and I was utterly disappointed. I'll never purchase another Razer product again. Stick with Logitech, they seem to have a clue what they're doing. I thought maybe I had to just get used to this mouse's quirks, but it's too frequent and too annoying to be tolerable. I have now gone back to the mouse that this one was supposed to replace.

Still don't know what to think
Reviewed By: matt on 2/2/2010
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: DPI settings, wireless, looks cool, nice feel. I like the look of the mouse and it's not gaudy like other "gaming" devices.
Cons: It's already making the annoying squeak noise that others have talked about. I've only had it for a month and don't use it that much. I really don't want to pull my mouse apart to do the fix that I found online. The squeak just makes the mouse sound cheap since my 3 year old mouse doesn't make noises like that. 72 hours of battery life for casual gaming? What does that even mean? I don't game with it at all and I don't think it will even go 24 hours. I have the newest firmware and drivers so that's not the issue either. I hope they sell replacement batteries 2 years from now because if they don't, this will be the last product I buy from them.
Other Thoughts: I would have never spent my money on this mouse. I didn't know what I wanted for xmas so I asked for this. It was the only thing I asked for. This mouse is way over priced. I was trying to think of what the "squeak" sounds like and I've narrowed it down to an Audubon bird call, the little bird calls that you twist. I can become an amateur bird watcher now. Kind of an exaggeration but that's the similar noise I can think of, just not as loud.
