4 out of 5 eggsTwo Years Later

Pros: I've had these headphones for what seems like forever and they've yet to give me more than superficial problems. For the price range they should be better quality all around, but they manage to be good enough. The fanboy glee of having SC2 gear, especially pilotesque headphones, more than makes up for my slight disappointment in quality.

Cons: The structural design leaves something to be desired. I can't imagine anyone asked for detachable foam or mic, and the needlessness of those qualities is made evident daily. I can't count the number of times I've knocked off the foam with hardly more than a breath.

Other Thoughts: I've had, rarely, some strange screeching and voice disturbances while listening to someone talking over mumbles. I attributed it to the 3rd party software, but some of the reviews on this site have suggested it's the Banshee. Here's hoping it's not, but it doesn't matter for me as it's extremely rare and only started recently after far more than a year of daily use.

Bear in mind, also, that the 99% of people who have bought a pair of these have gone on to think nothing of posting reviews or comments about them. I know I did until now when I stumbled upon some poor reviews here.

This is only one site out of the many that sell these, too, so chances are only the very few disappointed customers have bothered posting here. This is a basic lesson of any internet comment or forum site. The vocal few are louder than the silent masses.

3 out of 5 eggsBanshee Review

Pros: - Very Good Sound Quality over long periods of time
- Comfortable for long periods of time
- Sturdy Design
- Mic Quality is excellent while it lasted

Cons: - Mic is Detachable which caused a lot of problems when your gaming which is what this headset is designed for
- No mic replacement

Other Thoughts: After about 5 months the Mic died and I had no way of replacing it. I am stuck to using a webcam mic which picks up everything in my house.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me!

Pros: Awesome sound quality. Before I was using an older Razer headset (not even sold anymore), and the difference between the two is night and day. Before I had to pump up the volume on skype or ventrilo to be able to hear people, but now I have to lower the volume effects I had on everyone lest my ears start bleeding. The mic is superb as well. Everyone says it's crystal clear, even when there's a lot of background noise going on.

Cons: It is imperative that you install the firmware before using it. I'm not sure why there's so many negative reviews for this thing, but it all sounds like issues that razer says don't exist if you install the firmware.

3 out of 5 eggsOdd possible fix

Pros: Feels great, good sound quality

Cons: The random microphone spiking gave me problems for the longest time. but once I turned off the lights it hasn't happened since.

Other Thoughts: if you have this try turning off the lights and see if it fixes the mic. if you are looking to buy this for the cool lights. you're better off getting something else.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a headset

Pros: -Easy Physical Controls
-Decent Sound Quality
-Quality Cord

Cons: -Very Big
-Initially Heavy
-Short Cord

Other Thoughts: Got the headset as part of a package deal, the set was bigger than I was expecting; however once I found the sweet spot to sit on my head very comfortable and don't notice them at all.

The sound quality is a little lower than initial expectation, but messing around with software and levels got them to produce.

1 out of 5 eggsInitially, zero recognition of problem

Pros: Stylish, comfortable, Starcraft II stuff - all the reasons why fanboys buy things.

Cons: Purchased directly from Razer (it was the pre-order, actually) and when it finally arrived, it only took three hours of ownership before the screeching static revealed itself.

Nothing we did worked. Download and redownload. Connect, disconnect, reconnect.

Other Thoughts: A huge disappointment. It collects dust now, looking cool in the corner.

And like many, many others, I too searched online and found other owners experienced the same problems.

1 out of 5 eggsno

Pros: comfortable, works for listening to music/anything not using the mic.

Cons: There seems to be loud bursts of static sometimes when I talk, and it appears to be bad quality of the mic. I have researched up on it, and it appears lots of people seem to have the same problem. Don't buy these is you plan on talking through them.

Other Thoughts: Highly disappointed by Razer on this one.

3 out of 5 eggsThey're....ok...

Pros: So, first things first--I never make reviews, but this page was up and I saw some mixed reviews so I figured I would throw in my two cents.

Build Quality:Overall solid; pretty well constructed, ear pads come off rather easily which can be seen as good or bad. The lighting is pretty cool and very customizable; which affords a unique look to the user. You can set each of the 3 lit sections to your choice of...48 (i believe) colors. The size of them makes them pretty comfortable for extended use without too much pressure on the sides.

The detachable mic is a nice feature, but the connection feels....not flimsy but...fragile I suppose. The mic itself is very sturdy though.

Sound: Bass is pretty good for a non-driven usb device

APM lights work if you have player cam on during replays, regardless of player, neat.

Cons: BULKY--, light but bulky.

The padding doesn't seem to be of the highest quality, it has that "crunch" when you push into it. Its still comfortable, but compared to my pair of senn 555' feels harder& cheaper (price point is similar). They also seem like they could potentially come off too easily should they drop, and the tiny plastic connectors don't look too sturdy.

Due to the square shape of earpads, the bottom corner behind my ear doesn't seal against my head. Design flaw IMHO.

The APM lighting feature seems to be nothing more than a gimmick and not particularly useful, namely because the lights that are supposedly providing real time feedback are emanating out of the side of your head, and unfortunately unless you play with mirrors on each side of your head (totally not vain amirite?). If you want "functional" APM lights, look to the keyboard or mouse.

I'm listening to music right now at full volume, and I keep stopping the review to try to turn the volume up =\

Other Thoughts: All I can say is now that I'm done listening to music with these on for this review, I'm going back to my Senn 555's. (albeit paired w/ a Xonar ST--of which has a max volume that scares me. )

Honestly for the most part when playing Sc2 I use my senns and keep the sc2 set as a backup in case i want to use a mic; but I keep it plugged it next to my keyboard so I can glance at it every once in awhile...GO RED DARN IT! *spams furiously*

I haven't used these extensively for gaming because of the aforementioned; but they seem sufficient for sc2. For games where your headset is a tool to pinpoint an enemy from the sound of their footsteps, this might not be what you want.

For SC2 its pretty cool, esp if you have people watching you play (GSL here I come!). However for a headset to cover all your PC gaming/music needs, I'd look elsewhere.

1 out of 5 eggsNot my best purchase

Pros: Great Sound, Visually Appealing, decent base

Cons: After 3rd day, started disconnecting and had to replug it in every 30 mins. After a bit more than a weak, the left side blew out.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to give it try despite the feedback, but it ended up all being true.

5 out of 5 eggsGet it!! DOO EEET!!!

Pros: Bought this headset because of seeing it time and time again on the GSL mainstage, and i'm so glad that i spent the money. It is BY FAR the best headset i've ever owned. Most comfortable fitting and clean sounding set i've ever tried.

Cons: Really.....
