4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad headset

Pros: * Comfortable (does not hurt after wearing for several hours)
* Great microphone and sound quality for the money
* The 7.1 surround sound can help for FPS games.
* Surround sound can be calibrated to your preference.
* The microphone is rather decent compared to most headset mics I have used or heard.
* Totally better than my last headset (Turtlebeach junk)

Cons: * Volume can get too loud. ( I keep my volume lvl of the headset at just 25% and I adjust volume on applications.)
* Would not suggest setting volume control to %100.
* Sometimes the button on the mic to mute does not work so I have to open the Razor Synapse 2.0 configurator to mute the mic, but thats a minor issue to me.
* The end of the microphone lights up which can be somewhat annoying, but that is just my opinion.

Other Thoughts: The headset comes with software (Razor Synapse 2.0 configurator) that is easy to install. I have had only minor issues with the headset and that was the loudness of the headset. I like that the configurator settings are saved through Razor Cloud. Overall I am satisfied with the headset so far.

3 out of 5 eggsThey're OK

Pros: I've owned these things for 2 years and they haven't crapped out yet. Listening to music is fine and I can decently hear where people are in game thanks to the help of Razer's 3D audio software.

Cons: I HAD to buy a separate $15 microphone for these because of the sound quality.
For the first year they were very uncomfortable (maybe they shaped my head).
After about 5 hours of use they start to hurt.
To be honest there are headsets with better sound quality and comfort out there for lower the price. I don't suggest.

Other Thoughts: A month back they started buzzing and I thought they were breaking but it turned out to be my motherboard's audio jacks.

4 out of 5 eggsSweet replacement for Desktop speakers

Pros: The ear cups on these headphones are nice and cushy. Not as good as Bose Noise-cancelling ones, but really comfortable for long periods of time. My ears are small the the cups perfectly cover my ears.

The software and headset installed just fine in Win8.1 and I was set up and hearing 7.1 surround sound in under 5 minutes. The fact that I do not need a fancy sound card and new speakers to enjoy 7.1 is great.

The mic tucks neatly into the headset and the only reason I can't give this 5 stars is because it is difficult to grab the mic and pull it out.

Audio quality is fantastic and I can adjust the "speaker" placement using the software to fine-tune settings for my hearing.

In teamspeak, my friends say this mic is really clear and the best part is these headphones aren't like other cheap ones that vibrate the speakers sound back into the mic. I've had other headsets in the past (Like Turtle Beach) where the mic was picking up the headset sounds.

I definitely recommend these headphones for any gamer or just for listening to music. I have not tried them with movies yet.

Cons: The mic is difficult to pull out of the headset when it is pushed all the way in. The headset does not fold flat as neatly as I would like. In fact, I cannot fold these up in a way that makes them take up less space than when they are completely open.

Other Thoughts: The mic issue might be better after continued use since its still only a few weeks old.

I would definitely recommend getting these before investing in a new 7.1 system for gaming.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not purchase this

Pros: Good sound quality, solid build feel, and braided cable.

Cons: Absolutely terrible software. The Razer Synapse and Razer Surround software is garbage. This headset would work amazingly well if you could just use the default dolby 7.1 drivers, but being forced to use Razer's terrible drivers absolutely ruin the headset. After hours of tweaking, I was unable to get the headset to install properly and decided to get a refund and find a different brand. There was also consistent static when sound was playing, which I have read is very common in Razer USB headsets.

Other Thoughts: Plantronics and Corsair make 7.1 USB headsets that are far better in both audio quality and ease of setup. However, Razer may have the most solid physical build quality.

5 out of 5 eggsOf all the razer products ive used this is the 2nd best

Pros: This thing is SUPER loud. I have to keep it below 50% to prevent my brain from breaking. Great sound quality, along with an amazingly good mic. This thing fits my head perfectly.

Cons: Only 2 cons, I have a big ol head and if I had a bigger head i could see where it would be less comfortable. The mic mute is a bit wonky at times.

Other Thoughts: Ive had 3 razer headsets prior to this one: The Carcharias, The Megalodon, The Tiamat 7.1. I traded the carcharias for the megalodon and they eventually broke as well as the tiamat, but this headset is A HECK of alot sturdier than the previous ones.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty decent headset

Pros: When I first recieved these, I was amazed by the packaging. Razer always has great packaging. This headset is both stylish and great build quality. The 7.1 will also blow your mind. I've used these for many hours on a mod called DayZ for Arma 2, and the advantage of sound location is amazing. The braided cable is nice, but has it's cons too. If you're like me and forget you have a headset on and stand up ripping it off your head, don't worry, the cord will be fine. The mic quality is very good too. Synapse is also good with how much you can customize the sound, although synapse does have it's cons. All in all, I would recommend this mic. Sound isolation is awesome too.

Cons: The braided cord rubbing will drive you crazy. The constant grinding will drive you mad. The earcups won't fit over your ears. Playing for 4+ hours will make your ears ache for a day or two until they get broken in. Synapse is pretty bad. It will automatically adjust sound levels. Not a con just a suggestion.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Headset.

Pros: Loud, like really really loud.

Cons: If you have a larger head these might be a bit uncomfortable.

Other Thoughts: These work in combo with Razer Synapse and Razer Surround, both of which I have had various ups and downs. The headsets themselves are very nice. They look great and sound amazing. I use them for music, gaming, movies, or just when I want to have eargasms in general. They are great for blocking out external noise as well.

The mic is very good, and tucks away when not in use. I've been told that I'm clear over chat and it has nice sensors to block out background noise and easily picks up when you are talking and when you aren't.

Overall they have a good range of sounds. Booming bass, warm middle, and highs don't sound sharp or tinny which is nice in my opinion. As I said before the bass on these is loud which is great for the genre's of music I like to listen. I think the highest I've turned up the volume is 60/100 and that was making the whole headset shake on my ears. Not to mention that I felt like my eardrum were about to rupture.

My one complaint, they tend to squeeze my ears a bit, especially the longer you wear them. I wouldn't say my head is huge but its probably above average. Generally I cant use these for more than three or fours hours at a time, which sucks because they have great sound but I don't like getting head aches while I'm trying to listen to music. I would recommend trying to find a pair in a store or seeing if a friend has one to try on first to see how they will sit on your head. However I don't think that a little bit of squeeze really detriments the headphones, as the sound and mic quality of this headset is so amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth your while

Pros: Clear Crisp Sound when Recording and
Razer Virtual surround sound works and works well
Stylish
Not very heavy

Cons: Razer Synapse is required ( though this is not really a con so much as it is a notification to a potential buyer )

No inline volume control

Other Thoughts: While mentioned in the Con section Razer synapse is a fairly lightweight suite that controls the volume and various functionalities of the headset I use a razer keyboard and mouse that both use synapse so it is nice to have all my peripherals managed by one program.

The lack of an inline volume control is bothersome but it really is not that difficult to adjust the volume even through the windows volume mixer.

Lastly Remember that the headset is a usb headset so it is likely that you will have to set it as your default playback and recording device. Easily done by right clicking the little volume control in your tskbar selecting playback devices and highlighting the razer headset and setting it as the default playback device.

2 out of 5 eggsLOVE Razer, but i HATE this headset.

Pros: Great sound, bass, and the 7.1 virtual surround is legit.

Cons: the drivers through Razer synapse are HORRIBLE!!! i always have to sync the volume between the windows volume control and the Razer Synapse volume control every time i disconnect the headset, close Razer Synapse, or just simply turn off my computer if the headphones are left at a lower than 100 volume. Same thing happens with individual games as well.

Other Thoughts: ALL of these issues would have probably been solved if the headphones them selves had a volume control switch outside of a program on yourr computer like most headphones do but this one insists on using Razer Synapse to control it's volume wich is cuasing a ton of issues for me. no where close to being user friendly. BTW, i didn't buy this product through newegg, but if you are going to by these headphones from this sight than keep looking on this sight for a better product becuase these headphones are not worth the $100 i spent.
