What is meant by "refurbished" ???

It generally means that it was sent back after being shipped to someone else, they didnt want it/didnt like it, so they checked it over to see if it worked and put it in a box to be resold. There isn't really anything wrong with it, I have had mine for a couple of months and they work well.

Do these happen to be surround sound? Or are they just stereo?

I'm thinking that depends on the program your are using, i.e. the video game you're playing, media player, or software you're using for sound. I had these set to stereo at first, then made the settings switch in the game I was playing and noticed a considerable difference in sound quality. I've been setting everything to surround sound when using this headset. It's been awesome ever since. (I may very well be incorrect about this, but I'm just relating my experience from toying with settings and noting the difference.)

Question 3

How does the microphone work with only one 3.5mm jack coming out of the headset?  The speakers sound awesome but I don't see how I can get the microphone hooked up on a computer when microphones are supposed to have a separate 3.5mm jack....  Please help!

The main line from the headset has 3 "channels" in it, two carrying the stereo audio and the last carrying the mic output. It comes with a cord that splits these into the normal two connections. I actually like very much that they did this because the cord will disconnect at that connection if you accidentally pull on the headset.

What is implied by the headset being "refurbished" ?
What state was it in and did it have a prior owner with nasty hair ?

Refurbished- reconditioned, whichever problem parts there were have been fixed and upgraded parts installed to make the headset back to new. I believe these headsets come straight from the factory, they were either bought and immediately  returned or maybe there was some manufactured defect, so basically they cannot be legally sold as new, that's why they are a killer deal. I am a customer and we bought this headset refurb about a year ago, and it was the best money spent, we had Beats headphones, which I hate to say are GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!, these headsets (Razer) are not even in the same league as those crappy Beats, anyway I am sure you will be very satisfied with these headsets, super comfortable, and you can tell them came to use looking brand new, in the orig brand new box, basically they were refurb back to new status.

Question 5

Will this work with a cell phone?  I'm in the airport a lot and need something to block out/reduce background noise so I can hear better but won't pick up all the extraneous background sounds in the terminal.  If not this, what do you recommend?

It works great with a smart phone with a 3.5mm plug.  I use mine with a galaxy smart phone whenever I call, but I don't call from busy places.  I think the microphone sensitivity may have to be adjusted to work well in an airport terminal (app for that?), though you could always position the very adjustable boom close to your mouth.
Regardless, this is a very heavy and bulky headset without any significant noise cancelling.  Not recommended for airport use, even though it makes you look like a chopper pilot.

Does it work with Xbox 360 ?

Yes it does. It comes with the cable as it shows in the fourth picture. The microphone on the blacksharks though are kinda sketchy and have had tons of bad reviews so if you are looking for a gaming headset, something like turtle beaches are fairly affordable and are much better for gaming. that being said, the blacksharks can also be used for PC, phones, and pretty much anything else you could think of.

Is this headset compatible with a PS4?

i do not see why not, as long as the ps4 has a mic and a headphone jack, but you prob want to make double sure with the ps4 parameters, we are using this with a gaming computer.
