4 out of 5 eggsStill works just as it did the first day

Pros: I've had it since 4/2013, and it still works just as well as it did the first day I got it. It's exactly what I wanted - a mid-range headset from a reputable company. I've never had anyone complain about me sounding bad in games, and the quality is pretty nice for the price tag. I hear things on this headset that I don't on my $150 5-point surround sound system.

Cons: The left earpiece/side fell out of the adjustable slide, its been duck taped ever since - no effect on performance, still adjustable enough for my head on the other side.

Other Thoughts: My brother has had the step-up set for a few months longer than I, and his microphone kicked the bucket last night.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Headset

Pros: Light weight and fits well over your ears. Comfortable over long gaming sessions. Retractable mic is a nice feature. Great headset for the price. You won't be disappointed.

Cons: As mentioned in previous reviews, the cords are lighter that other headsets I've owned in the past. No immediate concern for me but I wish the manufacturer had used heavier wiring.

2 out of 5 eggsWouldn't buy again

Pros: The retractable mic is neat. The headphones are large and well padded.

Cons: I occassionally experience a problem wherein the left headphone will stop producing sound. However sound that should come out of the left headphone comes out of the right headphone at ~50% volume. If I reboot, the sound works fine again. I contacted steelseries to see if I could get some help for this. Their one response was to have me RMA it for a hardware issue. I asked if there were any known software issues since a hardware issue wouldn't be fixed by a reboot. I haven't heard back from them on that in a week.
I'm really unhappy that instead of trying to help me fix the problem, they just want me to return it, at my expense, when it isn't a hardware problem. The more I think about it, the more irritated I am by the basically non-existent customer service I've received from steel series.
The sad thing is, if the CS wasn't so arrogant, I would be relatively happy with this headset. But if this is the kind of CS I'm going to receive from steelseries, I'm never going to buy another of their products again.

Other Thoughts: Which I'd gone with a razer headset. They've had great CS when I've had problems with their products.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Surprisingly comfortable. Good, clear microphone.

Cons: The headphones are a little quiet it seems. I've had to turn up the sound in all my games since switching to this new headset.

3 out of 5 eggscomfy zone, pillows for ur ears

Pros: It's more comfortable than my hd202.
The microphone works alright...

Cons: The sound is all over the place. Recently, these headset adjusted its sound level in game, i had to restart the program in order to get the sound working properly. Not only does the headset malfunction, it doesn't provide a 3d sound effect you get in most standard headphones, my hd202 performed better than the 4H and those are my music headphones. These steelseries performed at its worst in FPS games, maybe steelseries designed this 4h headset for mmo gamers, not bias, but there is no bass, no 3d sound, it's like bare-bone sound coming from these speakers. Although it being bass-less can be a pro, depending on your preferences.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't buy the 4H or 5H again.
I took my chance, so you can save yours. Previous buyers did mention about the performance of the 4h series in FPS games and their statement is true. The sound being produce by the headset is scattered, with this headset i can't tell whether the other player is near or further from where i am. The 4H series is definitely not worth it, i wouldn't recommend this for FPS games.
For now, I'll work with what I have. I will return my results here if my experience with this 4H headset improves. Thx

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Comfortable, good quality sound, nice mic. Love extendable mic and inline controls for Mic: On, Lo, Hi. With headphone virtualization and EQ turned on in RealTek drivers sound is incredible.

Cons: Haven't found any yet, all is good.

4 out of 5 eggsSteelSeries

Pros: Great fit, great cushion, great sound, extending mic.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Bought these for my nephew and he plays all the time. He cannot stop thanking me for them. They are the right size for his head (he's a kid) and they are much clearer than his plantronics were.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Great value for the price. I've never been let down by Steel Series. This headset is no exception. Audio is clear and evenly produced, mic picks up well.

Cons: My wife says I look like a chopper pilot (not a con in my book!)

Other Thoughts: Place your faith in Steel Series products... you will not be disappointed.
