Its 50mm drivers create rich and detailed sound at high, low and mid tones, delivering an optimized soundscape that reproduces everything clearly from mood setting music to critical 3D positional alerts. The headset offers two interchangeable ear-cushions: dampening leather for passive noise isolation, or cloth for hear-through. The left ear-cup features an “invisible”, retractable, unidirectional microphone system, which can be discretely hidden when not in use. The detachable, braided cord features built-in volume and mic controls. Additional 2m extension cord is included for extra convenience. The 7H can be easily dismantled into 4 separate pieces for compact and easy transportation.

  • newegg Superior Sound Powered by 50 mm drivers, the SteelSeries 7H delivers rich and detailed sound for a superior soundscape. • newegg Interchangeable Ear Cushions The SteelSeries 7H is also equipped with interchangeable cloth ear cushions that can easily be swapped out for a completely different, hear-through audio experience. • newegg Retractable Microphone The uni-directional microphone can be retracted and hidden in the left ear cup. • newegg Volume Control The durable, double braided, nylon cord has built-in volume and microphone control for easy sound level adjustment.
  • newegg Perfect for Travel The SteelSeries 7H can be disassembled 7H into 4 pieces – two earcups, headband, and the cord, making it ideal to travel with.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound/Bad Design

Pros: Great Sound (Great highs and mids). Bass isn't impressive but not bad. Comfortable with the cloth ear pads. Retractable mic design works well.

Cons: The build design on these phones is really bad. I've owned these phones for 2 years and I've had them fail twice (this last time was after the 1 year warranty and happened a few weeks ago). Both times the headphones failed at the connection between the left earcup and the middle bridge. The three part teardown idea was interesting but also makes these phones very error prone. I take very good care of my electronics and would imagine a person with a large skull would break these just by wearing them.

Another problem with the phones is that your gonna want to use the cloth material they come with rather then the leather. The reason for this is because the leather earcups get really hot, really quickly and you'll want to take them off within an hour or so.

The last gripe I have is that the mic is too quiet and I have to use a 10 db boost with it to be heard clearly in skype and vent. As you might expect this means I have a bit of static when I speak, which annoys some people.

Other Thoughts: You can do much better than these gaming headset wise in the same price range. As i said they lasted me for two years and they have been great as far as sound quality goes but they are very error prone.

Steel series did replace them for free and quickly the first time they died. Just don't let them convince you that the problem is the cord and not the headset.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this company

Pros: Good positional audio
Decent overall sound quality

Cons: Bad build quality
Tech support is almost non existent

Other Thoughts: I have owned this headset for a little over a year now. After about 4 months I started to get a buzzing in the left ear of the headset, I contacted Steelseries support and after 3 emails and a week of waiting they finally got back to me. They said it would definitely the cord, so they said they would send me out a new cord. After a week of waiting and no tracking number I contacted them again and was told that somehow my information didn't get entered so they had to reenter it. So then I had to wait another week for the cord to finally arrive. Surprise surprise, cord came in, same buzzing noise. Contacted them again and waited... there was a lot of waiting going on... Long story shortened, we eventually got a RMA headset to me but it took almost 2 months to get it, again, a lot of waiting. On top of that, all shipping was paid for by myself since they couldn't send me print labels for some reason.

Anyway, it's now been almost a year from when I bought the original set, and 6 months since my RMA and while gaming a week or so ago the left earcup on my headset literally fell off. Like right off my head while playing. I was able to push it back together but there is some sort of cheap plastic snap that broke, this worked for a few days, pushing it back together every half hour or so, but now it's completely dead.

Anyway, I'm not going to ever buy Steelseries again after this whole experience. Their tech support and customer service is just awful, and they are the slowest in the industry. Their forgetfulness and lack of making it right by at least refunding my shipping during my extremely long RMA process has permanently left a sour taste in my mouth.

1 out of 5 eggsShaky connection

Pros: If you hold the USB connector to the left 'can' in just the right place, they sound great. They're also fairly comfortable.

Cons: The connection to the above left can doesn't stay stable. If you touch it or the cord, the sound suddenly becomes very distant.

Other Thoughts: I really wish I'd listened to the other reviews before I bought this, but the price on the flash sale seemed too good to pass up.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat, when it works.

Pros: Great headset that puts out great sound, when it works.

Cons: Broke a week after I bought it. Audio in the left ear cuff started cutting out. Steelseries tech support sent me a second unit that took 2 weeks (because I had to ship mine back to them before they'd ship a new one to me) to get shipped to me and it broke in the same way. Finally, after having 2 of them break within a couple of weeks of getting them I wanted my money back, but couldn't get a refund because I was "over the 30 day time limit for a refund". I was only over said time because it took them so long to ship one to me.

Other Thoughts: Steelseries tech support sucks. Never buying another product from them because lord forbid it breaks I don't want to have to deal with their tech support. They don't care about you, they just want your money, bottom line.

1 out of 5 eggsSame As Rest

Pros: great sound, when it works

Cons: Same as the rest of the reviews, my right earphone cuts out and have to replace the cable or headset, I think i'm on my 4th headset, and they are sending me a cable because the right earphone is cutting out again....

Other Thoughts: Don't Buy It

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this

Pros: None

Cons: It broke after less than an hour of use. I put it on, played 1 game of starcraft 2. My phone rang. I got up to answer it, and came back to my desk, put the headset on, and the left ear was dead. I took it off, made sure all the connections were made, and put it back on, and the right ear was now also dead. I didn't drop it. I didn't even have it long enough to get it dirty. It's a brand new piece of junk.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk headset, on my 2nd pair!

Pros: Good sound quality
Frame build is decent
Ear cups can be changed

Cons: This headset would have been great if the speakers didn't have problems. I've had this headset for a year, after almost 6 months, the left speaker blew out. It started to act up when it would cut from time to time when listening to something. I RMA'd it and received a brand new headset, a lot of good that did -- after 3 months, the same problem came up. The left speaker is cutting out and hasn't blown out yet as of writing this review, but it's just a matter of time.

I'm pretty sure this problem has something to do with the headsets removable headphone wire that connects to the headset. I don't know, but all I can say is to avoid SteelSeries headsets, I'm pretty sure if I got a 3rd pair, the same problem would occur.

Other Thoughts: A note about SteelSeries's warranty -- the warranty is only for 1 year, which is nowhere on the product box (you can find it on their website), you need to sign up to request an RMA ticket; once you receive your ticket, YOU have to pay to ship the product to them.

2 out of 5 eggsA slap fixes them most of the time.

Pros: -Braided cords
-a set of both pleather and velvety cuffs
-I sort of got a good deal on them?
-I can think of my pros than cons...

Cons: -left ear doesn't work half the time
- the one con out-weighs all the pros by the tons.

Other Thoughts: Me and my 2 cousins all got the same headset while at Quake Con 2011 for 50% off. We thought we had got a good deal until about 3 hours into use. One of their's mic wouldn't work anymore so we tried to take his set back to the booth but they (Steeleries employees) pulled every excuse out of their a*$es not to give him a refund. After about 2 weeks later, my other cousin's noticed a rattling noise coming form the right side of the set. His soon died as well but he has moved on to his razer carcharias. Now, about 2 months later, I am over here slapping the side of my head to get these things to work properly.

Don't waste your money.
