1 out of 5 eggsThe worst, most overpriced mouse

Pros: None

Cons: I have owned many mice, wired and wireless, and this, by far, is the worst I have ever owned. By the second month, pieces started falling off the mouse. Not only that, but it started acting up, and stopped tracking on surfaces that it previously had no trouble tracking on.

Overall, way too overpriced for what it provided - this is the last steelseries product I purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks great for a while

Pros: The mouse fits my hand well. The previous mice I've used have been a logitech g9, g9x, coolermaster xornet, and now this. The pads on the bottom are plentiful, was suprised to see that even for a rubberized mouse this wasn't cheaped out on. I use the steelseries mouse pad too. The feel with the mouse pad is very smooth, it isn't glove like but its good.

Cons: I didn't buy it from newegg. So nothing against newegg but I did buy it brand new retail and I'd expect better durability than this. It's never suffered any mistreatment and now turns off randomly. Has been transported in my backpack with my laptop maybe 20 times.

Other Thoughts: tl;dr - Its a good mouse if money isn't really an issue, there is no getting used to it. It's shaped a lot like a 5 dollar microsoft mouse but with way more teflon. In this case it is not very long lasting.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Drivers and tracking problems.

Pros: Build quality is good.
Size is appropriate for medium-sized hands.
Buttons have smoothly rounded edges (unlike Corsair mice), and click-action is good.

Cons: Drivers are unstable and buggy.

The Steelseries driver crashes several times a day (Windows 7, 64-bit). In more than 20 years of computing, I've never had a mouse driver perform so unreliably.

Also, the Steelseries mouse driver does not disable or replace the Windows 7 mouse driver. Rather, it works as an overlay to the basic Windows driver. This may not sound like a big deal, but when you're trying to dial-in the perfect mouse action, it's necessary to tweak BOTH the Steelseries driver AND the Windows driver. Say what?!? (as a comparison, Logitech replaces the Windows mouse driver completely so it's only necessary to be concerned with one driver's settings).

Cursor tracking has also been unreliable on a quality gaming mouse pad, and on bare surfaces. The mouse will track fine for awhile, but every few minutes, it will "wander" off target or become difficult to control for several seconds. Aggravating.

Buttons have good action, but the mouse wheel may tend to roll while you're trying to click, depending on your personal technique.

If you're right or left-handed, one set of side buttons will probably need to be disabled to avoid inadvertent mouse-clicks.

In practice, this mouse has 6 buttons, but only 2 or 3 are actually programmable if it becomes necessary for you to disable one set of side buttons. The top button (behind the mouse wheel) is not programmable - it's an on/off toggle switch for your custom dpi profiles. If you don't use more than one profile, it's useless.

Pulsating LED lighting is annoying, and does not automatically shutoff when your displays go to sleep (as does Razer's LED lighting). Unless you're 10 years old, you'll probably just switch it off.

Other Thoughts: Getting returned to the retailer (not NewEgg).

3 out of 5 eggsSleek but RAW

Pros: I chose this mouse because of the sleek, simple design but wanted quality construction. It is lightweight and has a mildly rubbery texture that fits the matte black finish. The software allows you to adjust the pulsation rate and brightness of the white LEDs. The mouse is very precise and allows you to build different profiles within the software. The cable is braided and very long so it's built to last.

Cons: The side buttons can be a little difficult to press in but I don't use them often. I do wish it came with weights for those who prefer a heavier mouse. The software is easy to use but kind of clunky.

4 out of 5 eggsgood mouse

Pros: Good dpi it's not 8200 like the non raw edition but I never put my dpi that high anyway...I play mostly fps games so I only need 1 profile...the dpi switch button toggles it from one set dpi to one other one.

Cons: The side buttons feel a little soft the buttons aren't as clicky as I like them if that makes sense to you

4 out of 5 eggsawesome mouse for the money

Pros: this mouse is great. i wanted a simplistic mouse with a few but not too many buttons to macro. this mouse met all my specifications. i don't use it for gaming, but i do use it for work and having the side buttons act as macros for certain tasks are wonderful.

Cons: If you are right handed, the right buttons on the side are going to be awkward to press. if you are left handed, the left button on the sides are going to be awkward to press. i only use the left side buttons (im right handed) because pressing the two on the other side are often at best extremely weird, and at worst difficult. its not natural, so i assume this is made for both right and left handed people.

The steel series software crashes CONSTANTLY and so far no solution in my research has been helpful. no idea why it crashes, it just does. i have to relaunch it 5 or 6 times during my day. very annoying, and hopefully steel series 3 engine will fix this once its compatible with this device.

Other Thoughts: All in all a good mouse. I suspect the design is geared towards both right and left handed people so im not too upset using certain buttons is a little awkward, but i feel the placement could have been better to suite everyone. The software is crashy but easy to use. the mouse itself is decent though and ive been happy with it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming mouse

Pros: Feels good, good DPI, doesn't cost 150 bucks for a mouse.

Cons: The mouse illuminates the icon in a slow dimming/brightening style. Could be distracting in a low light environment when your hand isn't on the mouse.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure there is a way to shut the illumination off, but I haven't downloaded the drivers because I wanted to play BF4 right away.

4 out of 5 eggsReview

Pros: 1. Adjustable Sensitivity
2. Very Smooth Rubber
3. Pulsing SteelSeries Logo (Configurable)
4. Light-Up Mousewheel
5. Multiple Profiles
6. Ambidextrous
7. Great Weight Balance (Not Too Heavy/Light)

Cons: 1. Somewhat Expensive
2. Somewhat Awkward (Not Terribly Though)
3. Mouse Cord Drags on Desk

Other Thoughts: I got this mouse because I needed something good for Counter-Strike Global Offensive and other games where accuracy is key.. I love the rubber on this mouse, it feels GREAT! The pulsing effect of the logo is pretty cool.. The mouse cord tugs as I move the mouse because I have a wood desk and the cord hangs off the back edge.. I like the SteelSeries Engine software, it allows a good amount of customizations and profiles.

Overall not a bad mouse.. I wouldn't buy it again though, I don't think..
