3 out of 5 eggsDecent mouse but not for everyone

Pros: Overall, it's a nice mouse with a clean design.

- The aesthetics are simple and minimalist
- The rubberized coating is really nice
- The wheel mouse felt really nice to scroll with
- The way the laser tracks is very smooth. I can't complain about its motion accuracy because it's definitely a high quality laser.

Cons: Unfortunately, I returned it 5 days after buying it.

I want to make note that the issues could be partly my fault (due to my hand size and mouse preferences) but I still feel it was partially defective, as no one else reported similar issues. Either way, I have small hands and I like to rest my wrist on the desk while using my mouse -- as such, my fingers were likely not clicking as far up as they probably expect you to click.

Anyway, here are the issues I faced:
- The left click was too soft, in terms of its tactile feedback. By this I mean I could barely feel that it actually clicked some of the time (even though it had registered as a click) and I hate that feeling because I can't be accurate with a mouse if sometimes the clicks feel too soft
- It didn't register as a click 100% of the time. It was close, but I expect a high-quality mouse to work every time
- The back/forward thumb triggers on the side felt too soft/flimsy and didn't click nicely. Compared to my other mice (see "Other Thoughts"), the buttons on the side just felt disappointing
- The overall shape didn't fit my hand well. Comparing this to the Logitech mice I have gotten accustomed to, it just didn't fit how I like

Other Thoughts: I got the RAW because my existing mouse (the Logitech G500) started double clicking on single clicks, which is known to happen to that mouse as it ages. It was 4.5 years old, so I'll forgive it.

My RAW was probably a bit defective. There's no way it could function like that out of the box otherwise (in my opinion). Either way, I returned it and forked out the extra $30 for the Logitech G502 -- which I've only been using for a few days but I'm liking it more. Personally, it feels really comfortable due to the shape, and the left side having that nice thumb rest indent.

In the end, I'm not going to give it lower than a "3" because I may have just gotten a slightly bad unit, and it's not SteelSeries fault that my hands didn't feel totally comfortable with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse!

Pros: Love the rubberized coating so far.
LED lighting is excellent and customizable.
CPI adjustments are extremeley accurate.
It keeps up with my 144hz monitor extremely well, and setting the CPI really high for 4K is effective.
Smooth gliding action.
Software works well.
Very little liftoff drag, much better than my old mouse.

Cons: I'm not a fan of the mouse cord, I know the "braided nylon" is supposed to be some kind of feature but I find it kind of tacky. Of course this is just a nitpick.

If you want multicolor LEDs you'll have to go elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: I've yet to see the long-term reliability, but hopefully it lasts longer than the 2 short years my very expensive Razer Lachesis lasted.

1 out of 5 eggsMouse wheel button failed after 2 years

Pros: See previous review.

Cons: Mouse wheel button will fail to register 100% of the time at the click point an about 75% of the time past the click point. Apparently this is a known issue judging by other people's reviews. DO NOT ORDER THIS MOUSE, you will regret it.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome mouse! Awesome Features!

Pros: Speed! This thing can fly!
Precision - awesome for headshots!
Adequate customizable options for macros
Feels good in your hand and provides a good click feel when you press the buttons

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I use this mouse as my primary mouse for everything from gaming to the occasional photoshop.. this mouse works great and the macro feature is a nice touch.

I had plenty of Razer and Logitech mice in the past and this mouse has really stood up to the abuse of hours upon hours of gaming. The others all fail miserably. I could open a whole graveyard for all the Razer mice that have died on me.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Mouse

Pros: Same basic design as the original Sensei, LEDs, programmable buttons and profiles via Steelseries Engine. Braided USB, rubberized coating feels good - just enough slip vs grip. Price point more attractive at ~$60. Tracking is pretty close to as solid as the original. Supported by SSE3.x. Mouse wheel silent, feels good.

Cons: None really, good value for the price point

Other Thoughts: Overall weight is lighter, but that's a personal issue - I liked the heavier weight of the original Sensei better. Click seems a little loud, but that's a minor thing. Original Sensei was dying after ~ 1.5 years in use, but part of the issue is also due to SSE 2.x's mounting annoyances with Windows (disconnects, software fails) vs SSE3.x (Original Sensei isn't supported by 3.x). Have not had these issues at all with SSE 3.x so far.

4 out of 5 eggsSteelSeries Sensei Raw Review

Pros: -easy to clean
-leds are bright
-software works
-hasn't broken ..yet
-light cord.

Cons: -software required (may be an issue)

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a wonderful mouse. I haven't had a gaming mouse yet but we'll see how this goes.

SteelSeries using CPI instead of DPI is just silly but just take note they are the same thing.

Software is required, and if the software isn't pre-installed the mouse will not work properly or not work at all. As buying anything you should always do your research before hand. Learning the software wasn't hard at all just menus for configuring the mouse buttons and LED control.

Shipping was alright. came in 4 days. Nothing to brag about but nonetheless I have to mention. The box at the bottom was torn open which was concerning when I first noticed, but the rest of the packaging was untouched and the mouse wasn't tampered with.

The cord is made of a fabric and after opening has a lot of zig-zags in it which are annoying but I expect the cord disfigurement to fix it self over time. Also the cord is very light and you can barely feel it as you use the mouse.

I would recommend this to anyone not just gamers because this mouse out performs all the mouse that I have previously owned/used.

4 out of 5 eggsWould buy again

Pros: Well, it seems that the software has been redone for the better, reading the past reviews for this product. Compared to the Corsair, the steelseries software is superb. I owned one corsair mouse and the software for that wasn't updated since 2013 and designation of keys, buggy. I haven't tried logitech, but looking at the youtube reviews, seems to be overly complicated and clunky compared to the steelseries engine. I own 2 raws and the first one, the quality control was a bit off -- the cord was frayed, and the fabric looked like a wool sweater. But the 2nd one is of very good quality (i bought 3 months later). So much so, I would definitely recommend the steelseries and would buy again.

Also love the rubberized texture.

Cons: ...

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great when it works. It's simple and functional.

Cons: The 2 extra mouse buttons aren't recognized in some games, and the other two are bound to page up and page down. The actual deal-breaking con is that after just a few months the scroll wheel will deteriorate to the point that scrolling down scrolls up - and I only use my mouse for maybe an hour or two a day. The build quality seems decent, it feels good in your hand, but it doesn't hold up.

Other Thoughts: Get a Logitech or something.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful mouse

Pros: Beautiful mouse, high DPI. I used to have a Logitech G700, and this one feels SO much more responsive, its wonderful.
I personally use the claw grip, which this mouse works perfectly with. Its nice and light, and doesn't have a huge thumb imprint.
The LED lighting is really nice, and is simple to change in the software, which is, by the way, very simplistic, yet also functional.
The scroll wheel has a nice tactile "click" when you scroll.
The cable is also EXCELLENT, the best USB-cable on a device I have ever owned.
The CPi switcher (DPI..) is easy to reach, and while there could be more than 1 DPI mode, I personally like only 2, as you don't have to click for 45 minutes to get the right one.

Cons: I honestly don't think these two cons are worth an egg, but they might be for some people.
The scroll wheel only has scrolling to side scrolling to the right, which is kind of annoying, but not really a big deal to me.
Also, again I use claw grip, I found myself hitting all the two buttons on the right side of the mouse constantly. I don't even know what they ACTUALLY did, but for the first 5 minutes I couldn't figure out why all of these windows kept popping up asking me to move stuff to the trash bin. I just disabled this in the software, and it hasn't been a big deal since.

Other Thoughts: I personally can't comment on the quality of the side buttons, as I do not use them. If you want a bunch of macros, this is definitely NOT the mouse for you. It has four extra buttons that can be used for macros.
I don't know how I feel about the quality of the material on the mouse, so far I haven't had any problems, but its only been 1 day. I guess grippy plastic could have been nice, but I like how I can slide my hands back into a fingertip grip for more accurate sniping.
