1 out of 5 eggsHorribly designed

Pros: Decent sound quality, although the bass seemed a bit lacking.

Cons: First and foremost, these things look ridiculous on your head. They're unnecessarily huge. For me, they also squeezed my head and ears, making for very uncomfortable long gaming sessions. I literally had to take a break a few times simply because the headphones were hurting my ears too much. The battery pack is heavy and annoying and actually started ripping the cord out of the headphone because of it always falling off my lap. When you put a battery in it and cut it on, the you get static and only a louder sound. The microphone was very quiet to the point where I had my mic volume all the way up and it was still pretty low. Also, the microphone can be positioned vertically, but the rotating connector got warn out so the mic would always fall back down.

Other Thoughts: Terribly designed. One of the worst headset designs I have seen. I got these as a gift. Please stay away from purchasing these.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound and Mic, But Bad all around.

Pros: Amazing sound. My video games have never sounded as good as they did with this headset. The surround is very good and gives you a feel as though you are in the game. The sound cancellation is very good as well.

Cons: The cords are broken. I'm not rough on my headsets, they get yanked a bit every so often. but after only a month the copper wiring has been split and the sound hardly works and my microphone has broken.

Other Thoughts: The manufacturer no longer has support for this on their website, it's hard to get help with it if it stops working.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't waste you money

Pros: I can't think of any!

Cons: Uncomfortable. Poorly constructed. Over priced. Aggravating volume control (it's heavy and the controls got touchy after a while).

Other Thoughts: I purchased these headphones after my favorite pair of headphones crapped out after 20 years of use. Prior to this I had also used "lower end" gamer headsets and had them stop working after about 4 to 5 months. I expected this to be a high quality product that I could use for listening to music and for VoIP. The microphone stopped working after 2 months and the right channel started cutting out after 5 months of gentle use. I will hence forth stay clear of self-proclaimed "gamer" headsets and continue to use a separate microphone and a pair of headphones.

2 out of 5 eggsFind something else

Pros: Good microphone.

Cons: I found these very uncomfortable. The volume controller is bulky and annoying.

Other Thoughts: I have owned these for 8 months or so now. Unlike other users, I have not had a problem with the cords tangling or fraying. The sound is adequate for gaming, and the microphone is clear. However, the headset is just too tight and not adjustable, which can lead to much suffering, especially if you wear glasses.

2 out of 5 eggsGood, but has its downfall.

Pros: The surround sound for the headphones is decent. It's more useful in video games, not as much for music or anything else. The microphone is crisp, crystal clear, no static. Great for videos games or recording a song perhaps. I wish Altec Lansing sold plain microphones by themselves!

Cons: This will cause pain. After only an hour your ears will be hurting badly. They are too tight and won't adjust for a wider fit. After a month the wires will twist n' turn into a giant braid which eventually leads to problems transmitting on the microphone.

Other Thoughts: When this microphone dies I won't be purchasing another pair. This is too much pain on my ears, even if the microphone is great. I would seek another headset with more comfortable padded earphones.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this Junk

Pros: Sound is really good when it works

Cons: As others have mentioned the designed is extremely poor. It needs a battery which you place in the volume controller. That thing is heavy and hangs unless you can find a place to clip it. The wires will eventually twist a fray like mine. A total waste of money.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this under any circumstance. The wires will twist and break like cheap 2 dollar headphones except these are far more expensive. Whoever designed this is an idiot.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome, but painful after a while

Pros: Saved me $45 on a sound card due to the built-in surround sound chip. In CS 1.6, I can hear clear enough, I can aim without seeing someone, how cool is that??? And the microphone is *crystal* clear on any communications program(ie CS, vent, TS, aim, etc)

Cons: They get painful to the ears after about an hour of usage and I have to take them off for a while.

Other Thoughts: I have no clue what anyone is talking about when they say you don't need a battery for these. You do but you don't, for normal usage, no it's not needed, but for surround sound, you need a AAA battery. Enough arguing.

4 out of 5 eggsHmmm.....

Pros: Pretty good sound for the price. Built in mike. controller on cord handles both mic and ear volumes.Big ear cups.

Cons: Virtual rear channel is non-existent.However, I am currently using my mobo sound, will report back after I get my sound card. The secondary head strap hurts the top of my skull- Needs some padding there to match the ear cups. Pleather ear cups make you sweat, cloth would have been nicer...

Other Thoughts: After reading the other reviews on here, I'm certain folks are not paying attention to what they are posting about the on this site. This model does not use batteries! (maybe they meant the wireless jobs?) Don't let the reviews fool you, these are pretty decent for the cash. I gave 5 eggs as I have a multiple user, multiple kid, multiple dog household and would be a moron to invest in some serious headgear. (I also admit I purchased them at a retail store for the exact same price...however that was only because the wife spent my newegg budget this month on shoes...;)

1 out of 5 eggsLearn from this

Pros: It was not overly expensive ($75). It looked decent..?

Cons: Let's see....This first one had constant hiss at about 7K Hz, the second one had faint hiss, the third one worked good for 3 days - then the SRS had hiss whenever activated. The 4th one worked great - then the SRS created extreme woofer distortion after 4 days. The fifth one the SRS degraded with hiss and distortion. Becoming worse & worse each day.

Other Thoughts: I think 5 of them over a period of a month is a good indication that they are terrible & have major electronics problems. The Best store here locally stopped selling them and pulled them from the shelves. That should tell you everything you need to know I think....
