3 out of 5 eggs13 Months Later

Pros: Quality of the device is decent sound that can withstand an increase of gain without losing the extremes of the spectrum advertised. (Read: Amplification doesn't diminish sound quality)

Cons: Fails right at expected time, one year is all these are worth. My typical usage of this device was desktop music composition and digital media consumption.

I deduct two eggs as a product that just performs "on par" and, for its cost, that is "sub-par" in my value oriented opinion.

Other Thoughts: Purchased on a sale some time back for $28. At that price point, I expect that a product will hold up to typical usage scenarios for at lease a year, these did.

Use your best judgement and take all product criticism skeptically. Products of higher value go on sale frequently, seek them out.

Definitely consider another option to these, preferably something else along the lines of Superlux HD 681 paired with Zalman Zm-Mic1 clip on microphone. When on sale, these two together cost roughly $4 more than this product. Setup is a bit fidely, but the performance gained in both aspects of a headset is several tiers above this product all the while being on the same tier of cost.

2 out of 5 eggsThis was good...

Pros: -Unbelievable sound considering price
-Inline controls
-Gold plated connectors

Cons: -Very poor build quality

Other Thoughts: I've had these for a couple of months and for those months they were amazing. One day the right speaker just stopped working... And would work if I wiggled the cord some, and only worked in one position which means there was a fray inside the cable. Buyer beware. Your experience may differ but I would not recommend this for a long time experience

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic sound quality... with a catch...

Pros: -As title says, fantastic sound quality with great bass
-Good mic

Cons: -The wire build quality, and volume control box
-Above ^ x100

Other Thoughts: Just a heads up, the Plantronics .audio 355 is the exact same model as this, and is about $12 cheaper. Only difference is this one has cloth ear cushions, and the red trim pieces.

Over the past 8 years, I've owned and went through about 6 or 7 of these headsets. I'm not hard on them, but I'm not really easy on them either, and they certainly get used.

Normally one would give up and perhaps get a better quality one, right? But no, because I still cannot find a better sounding headset. After my second one broke (right speaker on both just died), I tried the more expensive brands (turtle beach, steel series, etc), but they didn't come even close to the sound quality of these cheap little things. I even bought the big brother of this model (gamecom 780), but they didn't pack the punch the 307 delivers.

I don't know what the manufacture uses for the speakers, but they're doing it right. I ONLY wish they put the same amount of effort into the wire and volume control box. Every pair I get usually gets me about a year of use, and they all either die from the volume box shorting out, or the right speaker starts to cut out....and it's ALWAYS the right speaker. I'm guessing the left speaker gets jealous of the right one for some reason, and assassinates it at some point.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Horrible Sound

Pros: it fits your head about it

Cons: Sound is a disgrace the cheaper older versions of Plantronics HP have 2x the sound quality.

Games cannot hear nothing much.

Movies ok if you use VLC media player and boost sound to 150% then they sound normal.

Other Thoughts: Used PT headsets for years all last only about 11months why they have 1yr warranty. This is worst set ever rather have junk wal mart set

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome headset

Pros: -For the price, you're just simply not going to find anything better than this,
-Very nice audio and microphone quality.
-Microphone is right where it needs to be, either in the up or down position.
-Actually fits around my ears
-Soft padding, both around ears and on headband

Cons: -Over time (I think I'm on year two now?), the volume control potentiometer has gotten slightly corroded, as there are certain spots where only one speaker will work, or neither will work, or it will be very quiet. To fix this, I just found a good spot on the knob, and taped it into position, it works just fine. (No eggs off, easy fix)
-The cups are a hair and lint magnet (no eggs off, cosmetic nit-picking)

Other Thoughts: If you're not an audiophile, or you don't like to throw your money away, I strongly urge you to make this a serious consideration for your headset choice.

4 out of 5 eggsThey did the job

Pros: Good entry point into Headsets incase it is your first one. It is inexpensive and gives you an idea if you need anything better. This was my first headset. I was unsure about spending 300 so I got these and a month later I upgraded.

Cons: Volume isn't as loud as I would have liked. Would like more control over mic volume.

5 out of 5 eggsStellar for the price range

Pros: -For $30, the bass is incredible
-Well-ranged mids and highs, nothing gets muddled
-The microphone is excellent
-Personally, I found them very comfortable

Cons: -Microphone isn't as flexible as I'd like
-Inline control nub is very wonky
-Distance between headphones and inline control is way too short

Other Thoughts: I've had these headphones for about 2 years now. At $30, the sound quality is almost unmatched. I had a pair of Turtle Beach Z1's and for $40, they were so much worse than these. Gaming sounds crisp and clear, and the bass packs enough punch to let you enjoy listening to a lot of music provided you've got a decent sound card.

Running through a lot of basic sound quality tests, the pair performs accurately and consistently between the advertised 20hz-20Khz. There were minor clipping issues in the bass at the 20hz range, but if you were looking for flawless pulse-pounding bass in these, I've got some swampland in Florida you might be interested in purchasing. All in all, a great sub-entry level offering from Plantronics.

3 out of 5 eggsSecond not as good as first.

Pros: price, volume control and mute mic switch

The first pair was nice. Gave it to my mom so that she could use them with her laptop.

Cons: quality and the consistency thereof

The second pair would be perfect if the right ear speaker didn't just quit playing sound.
Now I can only hear on the left and that is really aggravating. Now that it is just outside the replacement return time frame I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get the thing working.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if the manufacturer would have good enough quality assurance that this didn't happen. I had thought plantronics to be generally great quality. Well now I know that it is only so-so quality.
