3 out of 5 eggsGreat Mixer, Bad Headphones

Pros: - Easy setup (PC)
- Simple to use
- Comfortable headset

Cons: - Poor headset quality
- No support for non-inline microphones

Other Thoughts: By far the best part of this package is the actual rig itself. I found it to be extremely useful to be able to quickly switch between gaming/movies to quickly picking up a call without needing to pull of my headset every time.

Unfortunately the build quality of the actual headset leaves a lot to be desired. I submitted a warranty claim to get a replacement on my original headset directly though Plantronics because the boom mic seemed to have some kind of short which caused the audio to keep cutting out, especially if the mic was bumped. This was likely due to how loose the mic is when it is connected to the headset.

I continued to use the headset despite the audio issue up until the plastic hinge which connects the left ear cup cracked while I was removing the headset. I tend to baby my headsets and this one was no exception. It has always remained at my computer desk at home and was always stored by hanging it from something (usually my desk) to avoid any damage to the mic.

Plantronics was helpful and they replaced the headset without question. However, I noticed that I was still having the same issue with the previous headset where the audio kept cutting out. Again, I continued to use the headset despite that issue.

I'm writing this review right now with packaging tape stuck in my hair because once again the headphone plastic cracked. This time it was just below the hinge on the left ear cup. This time the headset is out of warranty so I doubt that Plantronics would be willing to replace the headset.

One thing that I noticed after the headset broke for the second time was that the rig unit lacks support for a non-inline microphone. In other words, using the rig with a set of high fidelity headphones and a standalone mic is not a viable option unless you're willing to purchase additional hardware/mods.

To summarize my long-winded experience with this headset, the rig unit itself is fantastic and had the engineers who designed included a separate mic input within the unit I would recommend the rig without any hesitation. However the build quality on the headset is the real deal breaker here. If you're planning to use the included headset as your primary headset, be cautious as my experience has shown that each headset seems to last just shy of a year before they start to break.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Great headset, good quality and I like the three different settings for it. Replaced a Logitech G430 headset. Microphone is not as sensitive which is good. Comfortable ear cups, nothing wrong after a year of use, no issues either with drivers.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: I came from a 7.1 surround headset and really missed the difference in sound.
They released a 7.1 surround headset a few months after I bought this headset unfortunately.

4 out of 5 eggsPlantronics RIG Real World...

Pros: 1. Very comfortable to wear for long periods.
2. Great sound quality, although not as good as some others.
3. Love the volume controls. Easy to use as well.
4. Good microphone. Not the best but sound quality is good.
5. Dual inputs are great. Being able to play or work on the computer and not miss a call is a big plus.

Cons: 1. Seems more intended for console gamers rather than PC gamers.
2. Microphone design would be nice if it could swing out of the way when not needed.
3. Depending on phone, sound is a bit low through the headsets compared to PC output.

Other Thoughts: Over all a good headset for either PC or Console gamers. Would be good if they could put some thought into sound levels. Phones tend to be more quiet than PC output, so either you need to do some volume tweaking or maybe a small amp on the phone input side would be a good addition. If these were wireless, That would be a big plus in my book.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Headset

Pros: This is a great headset for the money! There are better headsets but for $100 this is the best. The other views were headsets that are broken so ignore those. Highly recommended

Cons: Gets my ears a little hot after hours of use

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: They work and having the mid detachable to be able to untangle the cord is nice as well has the volume mixer.

Cons: Hmm where to start, after 2 weeks the left ear started messing up, after 4 weeks it would randomly not work at all. Not surround sound. There are much better options at lower prices as well at this price range that are more comfortable and offer surround sound. going back to my rosewill for now.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome audio accessory.

Pros: The RIG has really changed how I use voice chat while playing online games.

Quite simply, the RIG allows you to bring in game sounds via your normal audio out, and connect to your chat system using its USB audio driver. This allows you to mix those two sources directly from the RIG device, on the fly, whenever you need. You can also connect it to the headphone port on your cell phone, and mix in any music coming from that as well. Plus, when you get a call, a quick press answers the call, and connects your headset microphone to the cell phone. No more ditching your headset and loosing game audio to answer a call.

It does work with headphones besides the included set (which is good), any headphones which also work as a cell phone headset (4 bands instead of 3 on the 3.5mm plug). This means your favorite ear buds work with it as well. I prefer my Razer BlackShark headphones to the included set, and they work perfectly with the RIG.

There's also a master volume control, along with 3 simple pre-set EQ levels, and a microphone mute and phone control button (for answering/hanging up calls, or pausing music).

The headphones that are included have 2 options for microphones, a traditional boom and an inline mic. Both work great, and the headphones sound good and are quite comfortable for extended use, but the best part of this is the RIG unit itself.

The cable to connect it to a computer or console is very long and seems quite well made, so it should be able to easily reach your computer or console.

Cons: The included headphones, while having good sound quality and being comfortable, are an open design, which means you can hear everything around you. For some that's not a problem, but in a noisy environment, it can make it hard to hear.

Though the RIG does work with other headphones, they have to use the 4-band 3.5mm plug, which not all do.

Initial setup can be complicated, since you have to set game output on one device (sound card), and voice communication on another (RIG USB Audio).

Includes a headset that I won't get much use out of, wish they made it available without to save on cost.

Other Thoughts: Though setup can be a bit complicated, once it's setup, it works amazingly well. The ability to quickly change the mix level between game sound and voice chat is incredibly convenient. For anyone who uses voice chat while they game, the RIG is a fantastic device, and I can't recommend it enough.
