5 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for.

Pros: Owned many J-sticks over the years MS Sidewinder r.i.p. ...lol anyway this thing destroys everything I've ever touched. Accurate and smooth this thing is a dream. Expensive yes , but you get what you pay for!

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat needs said?

Pros: Finish
Attention to detail
crisp buttons
Massive amount of buttons

Cons: Price
This thing is very heavy, to some this may be a con.

Other Thoughts: Anyone who see this at my house is always amazed by the quality and finish of the warthog. The satisfying “Click” you get when trowing a toggle is just fantastic. Sold Thrustmaster gear back in the 90's, but this is in no way your fathers peripheral. Can't recommend enough

1 out of 5 eggsstick movement cheap plastic broke

Pros: very high quality construction and feel except for one critical part. I'll get into that in the cons. A lot of it is metal, very weighty, excellent overall, I wish it didn't break.

Cons: After a few months I noticed the stick wasn't staying centered as well as it used to, it got to the point I had to hold it or trim my planes to compensate, not a massive problem but annoying, especially in planes that have no aileron trim (DCS Fw-190). Then today while playing, I rolled hard left and I hear a snap sound come from the stick and suddenly the entire stick is completely loose and just flops around.

I opened the base to see what the problem was and the slotted ball where the stick control slots into for movement was made of plastic and had snapped along the corners of the slot. Seriously... why the hell is that part not metal?!? most everything else is... why not that one??? You know, one of the most stressed parts of the entire construction!!! I just can't describe how stupid and cheap that is, especially for the price and reputation this thing has. I tried fixing it to no avail, it wouldn't hold as tight as it was before and was still extremely loose, not playable to say the least.

I have a feeling this might have just been a defect and I would really love to have this stick where it didn't get loose then break like this, I loved the hell out of it for the first few months. I'm thinking it may have gotten loose because the part was already cracked or something and my sudden movement was too much for it and it finally gave, doesn't really matter now. It's a shame really, I was really excited with this stick, and now I'm just disappointed. Any other stick wouldn't have lost 4 eggs for this, but this is supposed to be the best of the best and I'm rating it as such.

Other Thoughts: great overall, but absolutely inexcusable that plastic comprises any of the frequently moving/stressed parts given the price-tag. In fact most of the metal parts are not moving parts at all and are just the casing. To be fair, the switches on the throttle are metal but that's about it for the moving parts, like a shiny car with a cheap engine. I would be willing to buy a replacement if they fixed this issue.

5 out of 5 eggsThere is no other

Pros: This HOTAS is flat out amazing. I must have watched a dozen or more HOTAS comparison videos, unboxing videos, and review videos of this combo. Anybody that has spent any amount of time researching these knows that there are 3 or 4 setups that can run between 100 and 200 bucks, and then you go ALL the way up to 400 when you get here. I have to say, even at this high price tag for a piece of PC gaming hardware... I am terribly impressed.

After watching so many videos, I still wasn't prepared for how heavy duty this is. I HEARD them say it was heavy, made from metal, feel very tactile and smooth... but once I got it out of the box, I realize that they were even more than that.

-Almost all metal construction
-They weigh a ton
-They have a bigger footprint than I could tell from pictures and videos
-The joystick movement has a solid but soft snap back to middle, and once you get it from neutral, the joystick has completely linear resistance in all directions with zero stiction
-Almost all the switches feel like industrial quality mechanical switches
-Zero issues downloading the new drivers and software and getting it running. Took just a few minutes

Cons: The only con I can really give this setup, is that there are a couple of switches that don't feel like the same qualty, as the swtich right next to it. For example, the toggle switch on the left side of the throttle. It has some play, and doesn't feel solid. Where as the switches on the bottom of the base, have a loud *SNAP* when you throw them back and forth.

That's it... that's all I got.

Other Thoughts: Buy right, or buy twice. Worth every penny.

1 out of 5 eggsFlight Stick malfunction

Pros: Great when it works.

Cons: Joystick stopped working after light use over the last 4 months. The buttons appear to be pressed down (according to the Target Device Analyzer) and seems to have shorted. Contacting support. For a $500 set, I expected a much longer life span than this.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat controller,

Pros: Solid construction.
Normally I would say that heavy isn't good, but in this case 'Heavy is reliable' and allows for the entire range of motion in the controller without tipping the controller or the controller sliding around.
Solid rubber pads are affixed to the bottom, so the metal isn't scraping against the desk, this help hold the controller in place while still allowing it to slide when desired.
All but a couple switches are sturdy. and the mouse pointer on the back of the controller doesn't feel quite right.
Buttons are easy to reach and give a good feeling of being pressed.

Cons: Mine came with a single dead led for the EAC switch on the bottom left the 'ARM' text is not lit up.
The switch on the left side of the throttle feels a little weak.
When the throttles are seperated the left one again doesn't feel very sturdy. Even when locked together there is some side to side play, this isn't bad just undesired.
and the third switch from the bottom doesn't give good firm clicks when pressed.

Other Thoughts: This is a great piece of equipment, one that I would not hesitate to recommend.
However for the price this retails I would hope it to be flawless.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: The experience of gripping these things in your hands is mind-blowingly amazing.
Both the stick and throttle are both incredibly solid, heavy and smooth. I am not a hardcore simulation player but in the games I've used this setup in like Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen AC 1.0, the Thrustmaster Warthog is pure joy to use.

Cons: The price is the only real con I can put here. I've not owned this setup for long enough to speak of its durability and I've yet to even scartch the surface on its dozens of customizable analog switches on both the stick and the throttle unit.

5 out of 5 eggsBest stick Ive ever owned

Pros: Ive had this stick for almost 3 years now with nary a complaint. Its accurate, rugged, and can keep up with the best out there. Ive used mine for hours on end playing every single DCS module, including the UH-1H, Ka-50, F-15...and it feels so natural to use.

Modding this stick is easy. Ive mine on a piece of galvanized pipe mounted to the floor on top of a 1 1/4 inch flange, which helps make it feel naturally like an actual aircraft stick. I cant fly it in any other way. No way am I going back to Saitek, their stuff feels too flimsy and breaks too easily for me.

Cons: The TARGET software seems like its too much of a hassle to learn to me. This is the only thing Ive to gripe about with this stick...Saiteks SST software was easy to set up. If it were any easier, this would be hands down the best stick on the market today. My other gripe would be the pinky switch on the left hand throttle. It gets gummed up pretty easily. Its a 3 pole switch anyways, so replacing it is just as easy as heading down to a local electronics store and picking one out of their parts bin for 5 dollars.

Other Thoughts: Its well worth the investment.

3 out of 5 eggsConflicted feelings on this one

Pros: The joystick is simply put, a work of electronic art. The precision and smooth reactions cannot be overstated. It is simply a joy to operate. Switches and controls for anything and everything. A flight simmer's dream come true....for the most part.

Cons: For all the solid construction that went into the joystick and base for the throttle and switchboard, it is baffling as to why Thrustmaster would skimp on the most used and moved parts. The CMS 4 way switch on the joystick is cheap plastic, shoddy manufacturing. WIthin 3 days the switch was loose on the gimble, and had so much play you could hardly accurately use the button. The throttle is also cheap plastic, which flexes and creaks with each acceleration or deceleration, the plastic 4 ways on this too, are of questionable origin. It is just a slap in the face after you pay several hundred dollars for what was supposed to be the best, and there are small minor flaws. That lead to breakage, Quickly. When you pay this, you expect it to be the best and perform as such. QUality construction included. And good luck dealing with Thrustmaster on this one. IF they decide to respond to you at all, you will be given a list of requirements to meet before they will even consider helping you. After you fulfill the requests, they will continue to ignore you.

Other Thoughts: Id love to say jump all over this, that it's worth every penny. But it just might not be, unless you have the money to easily throw around. If you are saving for the top of the line sim hardware, this might be a disappointment. Just be aware of what you're getting into, and test it thoroughly upon receipt. At the first sign of defects, immediately return. There's a reason Newegg doesn't support this under the Iron Egg.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Equal

Pros: Superb build quality that portends a long, functional life.

Cons: The TARGET software used to configure the umpteen buttons, knobs, hats, and switches is not very user-friendly but this is a very minor issue. You can wade through the baroque documentation and learn how to set things one time, then forget the whole matter. You also have to find and download the software yourself from the ThrustMaster website.

Other Thoughts: This link to find the TARGET software and instructions for it might be removed, but here goes... http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=3&pid=311&cid=5

Hope that helps you to decide to buy this product on Newegg.

Some users might be worried that it does not have a rotation axis for full 6DoF control. I solved that by assigning the trim wheel as my yaw axis (I don't happen to play any games that require trim settings). It has a little detente in the center of its travel so you can feel when the yaw is at zero.
