With a 6000dpi Pro-Aim Laser Sensor and its integrated Tracking & Distance Control Unit (TDCU), the further development of the prize-winning ROCCAT Kone Gaming Mouse has unbelievably more power under the hood. Its maximum precision and ultimate tracking are beyond comparison.

The massive upgrade made to the driver and the introduction of the Easy-Shift[+] button has also turned the Kone[+] into a real customizable marvel at the same time. No other mouse offers as many configuration options as the ROCCAT Kone.

  • newegg Maximum Performance The revolutionary 6000dpi Pro-Aim Laser Sensor, in conjunction with its 10.5 megapixel resolution and 1000Hz polling rate, offers maximum precision, even transmitting lightning fast mouse movements with up to 30Gs of acceleration and with speeds of up to 200ips (5.08m/s) without loss or lag. Thanks to the Tracking and Distance Control Unit, which is now integrated in the laser sensor, the ROCCAT Kone[+] can also calculate the lift-off distance as well as fine-tune the sensor to suit the mousepad. The result: optimal tracking.
  • newegg Ergonomic Hybrid Shell The highly praised hybrid shell for right-handers, including the Soft-Touch Surface, have been retained, but really useful core improvements have been made that further increase the comfort of Kone’s successor. The mouse wheel is completely new: distinctive notch positions are perfect for gaming, and the wider design makes it easier to control. The button above the mouse wheel has been made larger and you’ll now find a nicely-sized toggle switch below the mouse wheel. The result: maximum gaming comfort.
  • newegg 22 Mouse Functions Thanks to the Easy-Shift[+] button, all the buttons – including the mouse wheel – can be assigned two functions such as macros or other functions. As a result, you now have 22 functions available at any one time instead of the usual 12.
  • newegg 5 Game Profiles You can configure your button assignments, including macros, DPI settings, the sensor sensitivity level and your lighting settings too, and save them to any one of 5 profiles on the 576kB of onboard memory. This allows you to customize your mouse to suit individual games. You can associate each profile with a particular application so the right button assignments, DPI and color settings, etc., are automatically loaded when you start the game. When a profile is set as the Windows Profile, the ROCCAT Kone[+] will always switch to this profile when you return to Windows after leaving a game or app. Additional profiles can be saved on your hard drive whenever you want, and then loaded to any one of the 5 profile slots using the driver menu.
  • newegg Macro Manager Creating and editing your own command sequences is made easy thanks to the highly praised Macro Manager. Predefined macro presets for the top 20 PC games as well as several office apps make it even easier to customize the mouse – plus the new Loop Function now makes it possible to loop macros indefinitely.
  • newegg More Thoughtful Features Four multicolor LEDs, together with the enhanced lightpipes and configurable effects, can light up, alternate or pulsate in more than four different colors at the same time. It’s a real eye-catcher on any desktop. Plus, the famous ROCCAT voice gives immediate feedback when you change DPI settings, profiles, the volume level or sensitivity setting. As you don’t need to look at an additional display on the screen or on the mouse itself, nothing will distract from the gameplay. It really is as easy at that. And a weight system comprising 4 x 5g weights is included, allowing you to customize the weight in four stages to suit your preferences.

1 out of 5 eggsGood concept, bad execution

Pros: - Looks sleek and feels nice
- Easy shift allows for numerous customization
- LED lights
- Pretty much everything can be customized

Cons: I had this mouse for about a month and the wheel started to squeak like mad, and drove me nuts.

However, the biggest problem was when the mouse suddenly stopped working, and would cause my keyboard to lock up as well. When it did decide to work it had my WoW profile stuck in its silly brain. After numerous firmware updates and re-installs/ un-installs it remains to be broken and bugged. It'd freeze up my friends keyboard within seconds of plugging it in.

Other Thoughts: Really really great design and idea, but the firmware is just so sketchy right now. I'd stay away from this one for a while, and find another mouse.

2 out of 5 eggsNope.

Pros: Feels fairly good in the hand. Good plastic, appropriate texture, pleasant weight, and a little larger than the Logitech G500(s). Good click resistance. Feels good. Bought to replace a five year old, worn out Logitech G500.

Cons: Scroll wheel squeaks like a smoke detector with low battery. Cursor wanders on the screen like there's a rock stuck under the sensor. Scrool wheel sometimes doesn't register. Click button sometimes gets stuck, and holds the click. After two weeks, the cursor started occasionally shooting to the very right side of the screen. DPI setting is either not sensitive enough or WAY TOO SENSITIVE. Deemed trash and replaced in 2.5 weeks with a Logitech G500s.

Other Thoughts: I bought this mouse to replace a Logitech G500 mouse that has started occasionally double-clicking when I would left mouse click. I got this one, and right from the time I plugged it in, I started wondering if my neghbor's smoke detector was low on battery -- too quiet to be mine. Eventually I traced it to the mouse's scroll wheel. Egad.

I kept using it, thinking, "No. This isn't right. I'm going to need to RMA this." After that, it gained a new problem: the mouse would occasionally miss a scroll on the scroll wheel. I'd scroll, wait, expecting something was delayed, but... nothing. It just didn't catch it. I'd have to scroll again.

Time went on. I started considering a new mouse. Then I was clicking on the scroll bar -- page down. Suddenly the screen shot down 8 screens -- it was _holding_ the click! what the h---?

I thought that's as bad as it could get. Squeaking scrollwheel, missing scrolls, stuck click... all on one mouse? This can't be random mishaps. Not _this_ many on _one_ mouse in _different_ areas of functionality/hardware. This has got to be bad quality components.

Time went on. I started looking for another mouse. This was 1.5 weeks of ownership.

Occasionally the mouse cursor would "vibrate" randomly about where I was mousing. Only when I moved the mouse, like using the mouse on top of a mirror, or single color surface -- not my textured mouse pad.

Later, my mouse cursor would disappear. I'd move the mouse, and there would be no cursor movement. "Great," I thought, "My computer's frozen." Actually not -- I found the cursor on the very edgey of the screen -- out of my immediate view on a 27" monitor. What? Really? This is flaky USB communication or something. I've seen it, but only vary rarely, on defective mice.

The whole while I felt it was moving too slow. Just.. uncomfortably so. I'd have to pick the mouse up at _least_ once to move across my full monitor. So I tried bumping the DPI up one setting -- I'd zip across in half the mouse pad. It's either frustratingly insensitive, or frustratingly sensitive. It lacks a good middle ground.

Every functional element of that mouse is defective. Every single piece. Every single component. Too much for it to be a simple manufacturing defect -- no way one mouse in a hundred could have every single aspect broken.

They call this a gamer mouse, but it would be DREADFUL to use for that purpose -- maybe if getting fragged is your goal. I'd rate this barely useable as a desktop mouse. Honestly, I'd rate this the worst mouse I've ever used, even compared to the first 20$ optical mice ever, even compared to ball mice. It's absolutely, AMAZINGLY awful.

I'm giving this two stars because it has a good feel in my hand, but mostly because I couldn't imagine giving one star short of it having staples sticking out of the mouse buttons and where my thumb, pinky and palm went. But don't think for a MOMENT that this mouse is acceptable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for big hands!

Pros: Fantastic customization with their software. Great for someone with big hands, although I've heard the XTD is larger.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Cannot be used with your regular joe schmoe cloth mouse pad. It will make the pointer jump around like crazy. You either need a hard gaming mousepad or a really good hard flat surface for this mouse to be accurate.

2 out of 5 eggsLow quality at high price DO NOT BUY

Pros: It has a high precision laser and very accurate. A Lot of customization options.

A good fit if you have big hands.
The customizable lighting options is nice.

Cons: I only had it a few months before it started double clicking things constantly, when i only single click. I expected alot more quality for a mouse that costs 70$. Which is unacceptable.

I take very good care of my equipment so it was not mistreated.

2 out of 5 eggsScroll wheel failure

Pros: Good build quality
decent customization

Cons: As stated in the review title my scroll wheel failed just like others have reported.
Easy-Shift[+] button is a cool concept, however it should have been made as a separate button instead of giving up 1 of the 2 side buttons for the "shift" function

5 out of 5 eggsThe Ferrari of Mice

Pros: Like others have said, EVERYTHING can be customized.
LED lights that look sleek.
Great design.
A voice that announces when you receive achievements( a little unnecessary but it feels rewarding still to get them).

Cons: A little slick, when my hands are too dry I have trouble holding onto it, but after a little gaming and getting my hand nice and sweaty it grips really well.

Sometimes as of late, the DPI adjuster decides not to function, and then at some random time it just works again.

Other Thoughts: I wanted a new mouse for long gaming sessions that wouldn't leave my hand looking like the claw, Looked and the more popular mice like the mad catz r.a.t. and the logitech g600 but they felt a little small. Luckily the guy at the electronics store said to give this mouse a try and I am really happy with it after 9 months.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse

Pros: Really great mouse. Drivers come with software that customize everything about this mouse. the lights, buttons, sensitivity, dpi... all customizable. the voice that annouces the dpi every time you change it can be toggled off. the size is decent, and its very easy to get used to. I play and browse heavily on my pc, and i am very satisfied with this mouse. consider me now a fan of ROCCAT.

Cons: the Cable is not wrapped in cloth but I think that is nitpicking.

5 out of 5 eggsMy first gaming mouse

Pros: -The shift button(the side button closest to you) can also be used for something other than the shift button!!! But of course you lose the power of doubling up commands for each of your buttons. But you can always change that back in the driver
-5 profile slots that when tagged with the ".exe" file location of any of your programs, the profile automatically kicks in when you launch the program
-fully customizable dpi settings
-Lots of buttons. It even takes some time deciding which commands you want each to do.
-Ergononomically comfy
-You can turn off "Roccat Talk"
-It has sensitivity options in the x and y axis
-the lights on the mouse have options like "breathing", "heart beat", and "blinking"

As my first gaming mouse I am stoked. I can't ask for more. The mouse if very smooth compared to my old microsoft one. It's versatility with all its programmable buttons has really changed my experience with how i surf the web and game with.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: -I have medium hands and it fits by hand perfectly
-The only button that can be assigned as the shift button is the side button closest to you.
-Only 33 colors for the LED lights.

3 out of 5 eggsGood mouse overall.

Pros: The mouse is comfortable. It's got a nice feel and interchangeable weights. The colors on the LEDS are great. Buttons are in very convenient locations.

Cons: I heard about the middle mouse issue from a lot of people before I bought this mouse. I threw the thought in the back of my head and bought it anyway. I can honestly say that I'm starting to encounter the same problem. My mouse has never seen a shock, hit, or even a fall on the carpet. But it's now time to get a new one. My middle mouse click no longer works. I can still scroll up and down and the tilt works fine.

Other Thoughts: It's been roughly 7 months since I purchased the mouse. I've easily gotten my money's worth. I'll be purchasing another mouse from Roccat. It may not be another Kone + but the company stands behind their products. They have good support and will do business with them again. Maybe buy a Roccat Pure. Until the Kone + has an upgrade, I'll stick to their other mice.

4 out of 5 eggsRoccat Kone [+]

Pros: The Kone looks nice, feels good, the added weights to it make everything one fluid movement. it is very precise. The customization and software it comes with is beyond any mouse I've owned before.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if this mouse was ambidextrous.
