EXCELLENT headset!
- Pros: Excellent sound- a terrific experience, and the perfect alternative to the full blown 5.1 surround speaker system should you not have the room.
Have had these for close to a year and a half (bought at a store), and have not had a single issue.
- Cons: The mic is good, but you have to fix it when you get it. Other then that, the sound quality and the capability to have an external speaker set alongside the headseat is awesome.
The subwoofer in the headphones can cause the other speakers to rattle if you set the bass too high.
- Other Thoughts: If you get a bunch of static and squealing when the mic is plugged in it's easy to fix.
To fix the mic, all you have to do is remove the foam protector and the plastic housing- inside you'll see the microphone and two wires- if they are too close you get the squealing from feedback. Simply seperate them, and carefully put the housing back on, making sure you're not pushing the wires together.
Why 2 insulated leads are that close together in the open I have no idea.
RMA
- Pros: Excellent highs and lows. Music really sounds good. Played COD4 at Exile Lan Party while wearing these helped out alot. Positional sound was good, not great. You can hear in which direction a nade fell however incoming fire was hard to detect unless you could see it.
- Cons: Lost one star due to bad mic. It wasn't the mic itself, it was the wiring inside the inline control module. We tested it on 2 other PC's and got the same result. At this price it's uncalled for. Alittle tight on the head but was comfortable after extended use.
- Other Thoughts: This is a good headset with the potential to be excellent if QC could get it together. If you buy these and your friends are complaining of popping and static from your mic, RMA IMMEDIATELY.

A step up
- Pros: Compared to other similar products these are a bargain deal. The sound is absolutely fantastic and very full. Very filling bass and clear high and low frequencies. It is not as good as 5.1 speakers but its very close.
- Cons: These are not as simple as plug and play and everything is peachy. They do need to be setup and balanced. Also depending on your computers noise level, as in if your Power Supply does not make clean currents it can run interference through the USB. Though this is not the Headset fault but rather do to low grade hardware or a poor wall outlet. Using a powerstrip with a filter or a BackUp battery with filter can clean this noise. Using a Power Supply with an 80% efficieny rating will also improve the noise over the current.
- Other Thoughts: Using these with an Auzentech X-Fi Forte. Dials to 7 center, 4.5 surround, 4.5 front, 4 bass. Again these headsets do perform differently dependant on setup so take some time and fine tune your sound card and headset untill you find the sweet spot.
Manufacture States they have an "acceptable hiss"
- Pros: The bass is powerful and they're good for games with 5.1.
- Cons: These headphones are NOT acceptable if you would like to enjoy music. The in line amplifier adds a considerable amount of hiss and is not worth the added power. I RMAed the headphones back to the manufacture but they stated the pair was “acceptable and within their manufacturing tolerance” I exchanged emails and was eventually told my pair is one of the better ones. I even asked them to downgrade me to a simple set without an amplifier but since mine was "acceptable" by their standards it wasn't covered under warranty.
- Other Thoughts: Bottom line the inline USB amp adds a considerable amount of noise. I recommend a set that doesn’t require additional power. Any amplifier is going to create noise, do you really need your brain to rattle?
Best headphones so far.
- Pros: This is the best sounding set of headphones I have ever heard. They do have to be setup properly, just as if you were setting up a set of 5.1 speakers. But once you get the settings correct, these things ROCK. Music sounds as if you are in a room full of speakers. In games these are amazing. I played Bioshock again and heard some of the most subtle sounds that I couldn't hear on my medusa's.
Just remember, its all in the setup. Another good thing about these are that they use metal for most of the headphone. No cheap plastic.
- Cons: The mic does have some issues.
The work thru in another review works great. But if you don't need the mic, just unplug the mic from your sound card. It will also get rid of the hissing and static some people complain about with web browsers. But once you do the easy fix, no need to worry.
- Other Thoughts: It takes a whole lot to impress me , but these puppies have got me listening to all kinds of music and really enjoying my games all over again.
As for comfort? I have a medium size head and smaller ears. When I first put these on they were kind of stiff, but after just a few minutes the foam in the earpiece's seemed to mold to my ears. They are very comfortable and I hardly know that I have them on.
