5 out of 5 eggsCM Storm Xornet

Pros: This mouse is very nice. The buttons on the side are easy to press and I don't have to struggle as much to reach for the first button on the side with my thumb. The ring finger rest... as I have begun to call it, makes this mouse super comfortable and easy to get used to.

Cons: Not really any cons that I can think of at this point, its held up pretty good so far and I don't see any reason to replace it anytime soon.

5 out of 5 eggsIf you can find a place to buy it, do it.

Pros: I've had this mouse for over two years.
First of all, if that doesn't testify to its durability, I don't think anything will.
Purchased originally in July of 2012, I have noticed essentially NO quality degradation.

I play MOBAs primarily with claw grip, obviously. If you don't have claw grip, don't buy this mouse. It's built from the ground up for claw grip. I consider that a pro because not all mice that CAN be used with claw grip are designed FOR claw grip.

After constant clicking and fast-paced re-positioning, the click response is not noticeably worse (claims up to 5mil clicks reliably, I'm sure I've far surpassed that), the scroll wheel is still perfectly responsive, the rubber pads on the side show VERY minimal wear, and the pads on the bottom are in great shape. It is also fantastic for casual browsing with claw grip, the DPI options are very useful for switching between casual browsing (maybe 1k DPI) and more intense gaming (2k DPI for sure).

Cons: This might not be much of a con, but the DPI is less than higher-end competitors. My thoughts on this are that 2k DPI is probably all you're really going to need unless you're at a professional level or have extreme OCD when it comes to that. At that point, I'd hope you'd be paying more for your mouse regardless.

Other Thoughts: Overall wonderful mouse, recently considered upgrading but actually cannot find a mouse with this much comfort and reliability for claw grip.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Carter,

Thank you for the positive feedback and we're glad to hear that his mouse has held up the test of time. Yet, I wanted to let you know that there is an older brother model of this mouse which is the CM STORM SPAWN. I have provided a link for the newegg page and our product page for additional details. Incase, you still feel like upgrading, but still want the same comfort/shape of the Xornet.

If you have any questions, comments, or even concerns, please use our Fanzone to speak with us through livechat/tickets. You can call our facility directly at 888.624.5099 as well.

Happy Gaming and Thank you for your Cooler Master support :)

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I bought it on 4/1 and I was waiting for my current mouse to run out of battery before I used it. Well, that was a mistake because this mouse was already dead. It wouldn't move or do anything at all even though the red light comes on just fine. I figured it was a driver issue so I went to CM website to find there is no driver.

CM tells me to ship it back to them for a replacement. Shipping cost is approx how much I bought this mouse for. No thanks. I rather replace the batteries in my logitech mouse. Never ever ever buying another mouse from them again.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This mouse feels incredible in my hand, it is quick and the buttons are easy to reach. DPI on the fly is also great. I really do love this mouse don't get me wrong.

Cons: I have owned 2 of these mice and both have been defective, but instead of paying almost 1/3 of the price to ship them back to RMA I have just had to deal with it.

My first mouse which I owned for over 2 years would lose it's laser signal and had to be squeezed to get it to light up again. I'm assuming a loose wire. It officially died a week ago and I decided to buy another one hoping that I'd finally solve this terrible laser problem.

My 2nd mouse seems to have a build problem with the center mouse wheel. It is incredibly sticky when depressed and it is overly sensitive. I'll be simply scrolling through a page and the button will click by itself. This is unlike my first mouse where you had a very satisfying and deep click on the center mouse wheel I play a lot of ARMA 3 which is a game that relies heavily on the center mouse wheel. It is not nearly impossible to play due to all of the random clicks being performed by the center mouse wheel.

Other Thoughts: Sadly although I truly love this mouse, the build quality and luck with this product have been so bad that I won't be paying the $11 in shipping to RMA this device for a new one and will be cutting my losses with the refund.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid mouse for the price

Pros: Fits your hand well, right and left button are nice, back and forward thumb buttons are nice and big, durable, good weight, scroll wheel clicks in well

Cons: The max DPI (2000) is fairly average meaning that the mouse doesn't actually benefit much from the other settings, the mouse scroll wheel doesn't scroll well, extremely bright optical laser that you won't get in higher price mice, can be slightly slippery.

Other Thoughts: If you hold the mouse with your entire hand it will feel good to you, I on the other hand like to 'claw' my mouse, and holding it like that makes the side buttons hard to press. That's mostly personal preference although you could say that the mouse is biased in that way.

Awesome mouse, I love everything about the mouse except the scroll wheel which is so bad for scrolling that I had to take an egg off. I would definitely recommend this and I have already upgraded and passed this mouse down to a friend who is getting into pc gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for Your Buck

Pros: This mouse is extremely comfortable. It's a huge step up from a low-tech wireless Logitech mouse. Not only does it provide comfort, its very sensitive and the side buttons are very useful! I use the side buttons for quick commands in my games.

Cons: Not really a con but don't turn the mouse upside down, you might shine the light in your eyes and blind yourself!

Other Thoughts: Seriously, the optical light shines across my room in the daylight. It hurt the first time.

5 out of 5 eggsBudget friendly

Pros: Feels good in claw grip, pads on either sides are very nice. DPI switching is a plus. All plug and play.

Cons: Not a huge con, but fairly sensitive scroll button.

Other Thoughts: Bought it for my girlfriend when our old standard laser mouse broke. . She's very happy with it. Light weight mouse, if that's what you're looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsBest for man hands

Pros: Size
Comfort
Responsive

Cons: Grips have little holes that tend to gather dirt/grime

Other Thoughts: This thing is a beast and allows me to not have arthritis after an extended gaming session due to its wide size. I have wide hands and some mice are uncomfortable but this thing is aces for us bigger people.

3 out of 5 eggsNot the same product I ordered a year ago

Pros: Like everyone else says:
-no complaints on tracking
-very light and comfortable (I have smallish hands)
-quality for price

Cons: Chord comes out close to bottom of mouse. If you have a setup with the chord laying flat on your desk, it may have extra resistance.
Feet--see "other thoughts"

Other Thoughts: I bought a Xornet over a year ago and was quite happy with it. A important feature was the curved mouse-feet, which really limited friction for the mouse. The mouse wheel eventually died so I upgraded to CM Storm's Spawn. I really do like the advantages of the Spawn but I realized that the mouse-feet were flat instead of curved--and thus due to the feet positioning (two large strips, one across the top and one across the bottom) it has more resistance than the Xornet. I wasn't too happy with the new "feel," and since it's taking less materials to have flatter feet, I'm assuming that CM is trying to save a buck. When the Xornet and the Spawn went on sale again, I thought I'd invest in a Xornet to get the wonderful curved feet again. Lo and behold, flat feet. Apparently CM is being cheap.

It's really frustrating, because I bought one mouse (my first Xornet) and really liked it, and bought two more mice trying to get the same quality of the first mouse, and both times I've been disappointed. What's really annoying is that CM Storm advertised the same mouse, but I got a different product. I'm obviously a bit picky, but I feel cheated nonetheless.

....In case I did a bad job explaining my issue with the feet, here's an explanation in more detail: the original Xornet's feet allowed me to apply any amount of pressure in any direction and it would move. The Spawn and the new Xornet need a certain amount of pressure to overcome the resistance "breaking point" and start moving. The same is with stopping--it stops a few pixels before you stop applying pressure. This becomes a real drag when playing anything that requires really fine mouse-accuracy, like SC2 or Osu, or FPS.
