Are your eyes tired when staring at your computer for hours and hours while digital data streams at you all day, every day? To most people, the answer is “yes”! From computer screens to cell phones, the relentless visual assault is frying your eyes. Gunnar has resolved this problem and jumped into rescuing people’s eyes.

Based on the intensive study and research on the human eye and its interaction with digital devices, Gunnar has produced the Digital Performance Eyewear, which helps computer users be more productive and more effective throughout the day. With Gunnar’s i-AMP lens technology - an optical platform that incorporates proprietary lens materials, tints, coatings and geometry, one gets an immediate and noticeable visual advantage in the short term, and better performance and protection in the long term. The performance eyewear line also helps prevent Digital Eye Fatigue (DEF) and protects against Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), a visual condition that impairs the eyesight of millions of computer users each year.

These advanced glasses are designed for both function and style for the sophisticated, image-conscious digital user. When you’re ready to protect your eyes, the Gunnar Catalyst Edge Digital Performance Eyewear will help you achieve your goals.

  • newegg i-FI Lens Coatings I-Fi lens coatings consist of four layers of coatings to filter transmitted light and protect the lens: an anti-reflective portion cuts glare and distracting extraneous light, hydrophobic component keeps water spots to a minimum, oleophobic coating provides resistance to smudging and fingerprints, and a final hard coat reduces environmental wear and minimizes scratching.
  • newegg fRACTYL Lens Geometry GUNNAR fRACTYL lens geometry mimics nature using advanced science and engineering to aid the natural focusing power of the eye, allowing the cilliary muscles (the muscles that shape your cornea) to relax. Additionally, the wrapped geometry of the lens sits close to the eye and face, helping maintain the healthy humidity levels in the eye.
  • newegg iONik Lens Tints GUNNAR iONik lens tint limits distracting blue light frequencies that are overproduced by phosphors in the bulbs, only allowing light from an optimal spectrum to pass through the lens, resulting in clearer images, less eye strain and increased visual efficiency.
  • newegg DiAMIX Lens Material With better resilience than a cast compound and better optics than an injected compound, diAMIX lens material not only offers superior optics, but also pushes the limits on frame and lens geometry without the restraints of typical off-the-shelf market solutions.
  • newegg Premium Frame System Designed with visual endurance in mind, the frame system is engineered for optimal weight, comfort and durability.

Your eyes are tired...staring at a computer for hours and hours takes its toll. The common solutions for handling eyestrain require you to modify your work habits or take numerous breaks throughout the day. They're all patchy fixes that pull you away from your work. There is a better technology driven solution that works with and enhances properties of the human eye. Gunnar digital eyewear increases visual performance, prevents Digital Eye Fatigue (DEF) and protects against full-blown Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). It all begins with i-AMP lens technology -- an optical platform that incorporates proprietary lens materials, lens tints, lens coatings, and lens geometry. Gunnar digital performance eyewear is engineered for an immediate and profound visual advantage and now even the most demanding computer users are more productive and more effective for longer periods of time. Gunnar Digital Performance Eyewear -- the must have digital performance equipment for your digital lifestyle.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh quality, Work as advertised, worth the money

Pros: Very high quality and durable. I've never sat on them or run over them with my truck but they have hit the ground a lot and otherwise been in pockets and bags in just a soft case.

VERY light for their durability. You'll hardly notice them. And they stay put like no-one's business.

They definitely help with eye strain. When you put them on it's immediately obvious the difference they make when looking at a bright screen. When wearing these, my eyes last a lot longer coding or gaming before becoming strained or dry.

They reduce some glare in the outdoor daylight (not much), but that effect is much more noticeable at night. Things and specifically lights look amazingly clear in the city at night.

They look great, and the yellow tint is not so obvious as to be corny looking. I've had friends and co-workers who have only noticed the tint after months (or years) of seeing me wearing them. Admittedly some have noticed it right away and likened them to hunting glasses.

Cons: Like everyone else with this style will tell you, the bridge connection to the lenses encroaches a bit too far into the lens and is slightly noticeable when you're wearing them. Maybe avoid the frameless design if this will bother you, but it didn't take me long to stop noticing it. The bridge connection uses dual screws/rivets to connect each lens, so this is kind of unavoidable, but makes for a very durable bridge connection. It's not even the slightest bit loose after 2 years of wear.

The earpieces are coated with a thin layer of rubberized grip. Now that I'm looking closely, I'm noticing that it's starting to degrade a little bit. I see places where it's worn down to the material underneath (which I'm guessing is plastic), but it doesn't come off and get everywhere. The earpieces as a whole are durable as well, and fairly bendy which aids in putting on and taking off the glasses, especially since the grip keeps them from easily sliding on and off.

Other Thoughts: When I first got my pair, the lenses were angled a bit too far upward by the bridge for my liking. I decided to bend the bridge a bit to lower the angle. It took two pairs of needlenose pliers and all my strength to get the job done while being extra careful not to slip and scratch anything. That is high quality material, definitely not plastic. Even the tiny scratches/indentations that I put on the bridge by doing this (which are only barely noticeable) have held up without degrading or chipping.

As I recall they came in a very nice box, although it was still some form of cardboard. But the microfiber soft case and cloth were very nice as well. I've since lost them, and am now looking for a replacement. I can't find anywhere that sells just those items, so I've emailed the customer support to ask.

I bought these at a certain other online retailer (named after a river/rainforest) two years ago. There's almost 50 reviews over there, but only 2 here, so I thought I'd share.

5 out of 5 eggsMajor difference

Pros: These glasses are REALLY light for how durable they are. They came to me in a black case that can be sat on your desk next to your pc and looks nice. Also, if your on the go with them they come with a little carry sleeve bag thingy...right.

Cons: I have a small head. I would really like to see the company come out with width selections. this is ofcourse not even a major issue

Other Thoughts: I look sexy in them.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Bottom line, they do what they say.
-No more dry eyes.
-No more eye strain headaches.
-Light weight
-Stylish... in some situations

Cons: Not many that I have experienced.
-Yellow tint distorts graphic design a little until you get familiar and used to it.
-First time putting them on, slightly disorienting, that quickly goes away.
-Coworkers say they look like shooting/hunting glasses

Other Thoughts: Phenomenal glasses that do what they say. Gladly have a new nickname at work in exchange for no more headaches.
