4 out of 5 eggsHow in the heck?!

Pros: Great sound
Awesome fit
Push-button controls, as opposed to the potentiometer control or sliding switch which get rusty when they're not moved around.

Cons: None that I'm physically aware of, apart from not being able to curve the microphone close to my face.

Other Thoughts: This obviously does not have a sound card. Basically what you have is the complete headset with an inline controller, with a retractable microphone, and that's it.
Though I had to RMA a pair of headphones because the computer didn't recognize it the first time. As it turned out, the first pair of headphones had a major cable fault that shorted out the USB ports and caused them to stop working until the headphones were unplugged.
Although, I have to ask, how in the heck do you get 7.1 sound through a pair of 40mm drivers anyway? Other than having to install the software, I still don't get the concept.

3 out of 5 eggshalf bad

Pros: The price , less than 60 tx+shipping included for a 7.1 is worth it.

Cons: Ordered 2 , 1 work still perfectly , the other already have an issue with the volume control on the wire. The wire inside that box seem broken.

Other Thoughts: As weirdly as it may sound , whenever my headset failed , so did my M90 Corsair Mouse 3 seconds after.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsAn update

Pros: See previous review

Cons: See previous review

Other Thoughts: I reviewed this product after one day of ownership, praising its sound quality and supposed durability, but lamenting its bulk and size.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/SingleProductReview.aspx?ReviewID=4062418

9 months later, my thoughts have changed. First off, I'd like to say that my head "adapted" to the set quite well. It actually became quite comfortable. No complaints there anymore.

However, 3 months into ownership, I began having problems with the audio cutting out. Shortly thereafter, the mic pretty much stopped working. Words will pop in intermittently, but it's practically unfunctional. Also, only certain audio channels seem to be functional. Some sounds are missing in games, and videos are impossible to watch as the music heavily overpowers the voices. Now, I only use the headset for "headphones," and my webcam mic for chatting. My disposable income took a hit and I can't afford to replace it. :*(

The likely reason for its demise is that the wire is EXTREMELY long. My rear jack is largely inaccessible, so I use the front jacks to switch between devices, which I am sitting right next to. The wire twists into itself very very easily, and if you don't rectify this immediately, it will become permanently twisted and eventually damage. I know this sounds obvious, but maybe your experience with the set will be much better if you bind the wire somehow. I'll definitely be going wireless or seeking a short wire next time.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Craftsmanship

Pros: Ok Sound

Cons: - Poor Craftsmanship Very Disappointed to See a Corsair Product Break so Easy Short in the Wire Just above the inline Controller. lasted less than 2 Months and I took very good Care of it and it Still Broke.

-

Other Thoughts: I would not Have Bought this If I had been able to See it in Person First.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap....

Pros: - good price
- easy to use plug them in and good to go

Cons: -left speaker broke in less then a month
- feel flimsy

Other Thoughts: Get something better, I thought I would go with a somewhat cheaper headset this time around after my astro's finally died after heavy usage for 4 years. Big mistake, save yourself the trouble these will break on you in no time at all.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound and mic response for the short time that it worked.

Cons: I plugged the headset into the USB port on the front of my case, mic/volume control switch on the HS cord lit up. The auto install for the HS popped up and appeared to run smoothly, I used the headset without issue for about 3 hours. The next evening I plugged in the headset and the volume/mic switch didn't light up... ok. So then suddenly my mouse, which is plugged into the USB port next to the mic froze. I unplugged the HS and the mouse and plugged them into the USB 3 ports on the back of my case, in other words, directly into my board (gigabyte z97 hd3). Nothing. I unplugged the HS and now my mouse works. I go to Corsairs' website do reinstall/install drivers for the hs. It won't let me install them without plugging in the hs. I can't do this, as now my pc won't recognize the hs from any usb port. I even tried switching to yet another USB port that happened to be next to my ethernet connect and it actually killed my connection, ethernet light and everything on the back of the case cut out. BTW I checked BIOS and voltages seemed fine.
TL;DR : worked fine for a short time then made my USB ports seem to completely spaz out for no apparent reason.
