Works Great
- Pros: Great price for a BD player, DVD/CD burner. Never had a Lite-on drive fail me.
- Cons: People below need to stop putting high tech knowledge when they clearly dont have it. There are FREE codecs you can download that let you playback BD and all other HD formats with WMP or VLC. No need to buy software for it.
- Other Thoughts: If you have .net framework 2.0 or higher, avisynth, ffdshow, and Haali Media Splitter then you will have no trouble playing BD movies with Windows Media Player, or VLC.
8x BD-ROM Combo
- Pros: This combo drive does what the specs show. Recognizes a BD-ROM fairly quickly and plays just fine. Also plays and records CD's and DVD's. With the right software this drive is also an good scanner to test the burn quality of your completed burns.
- Cons: Out of the box reads single layer BD-ROM at 8x but only reads a double layer disc at around 4x. No info on this drive on the LiteOn web site. Received a bare drive only.
- Other Thoughts: I've been using LiteOn optical drives for years and always had good luck. With the right software this drive will perform better at reading BD's for the price than anything out there at the moment. I read everything I could find regarding this model (a real challenge) and am happy I made the purchase.

Great Drive
- Pros: Everything so far.Google MediaCodeSpeedEdit to patch the firmware to play duallayer Blu Rays a twice the speed.Everything that I have read says that it is more than capable of doing so.I've had mine patched for about 3 months now and it's worked flawlessly.Team this with Arcsoft Total Media Theater 3 (download from Newegg @ a more than competitive price)and you have a Blu Ray HTPC retail blu ray machines can't compete with.
- Cons: doesn't burn blu ray

Does everything, how can you complain?
- Pros: This is a QUALITY brand, Lite-ON product,.. that does everything a drive can do , basically:
Reads CD's, Reads DVD's, Reads Blu-Ray discs.
Writes CD's and Writes DVD's.
Only thing missing is a lightscribe technology.. but I have it in another drive.. it is a novelty really.. a bit too slow to be worth it imo.

- Other Thoughts: $100'ish dollars for a brand name drive that does it all. Hard to beat.
