sony vs. elektrik-maschin
- Pros: looks great
- Cons: just doesn't fit,..bracket is off by fractions of a mm,, no power flowing......switch housings w/ the replacable,....that's why i purchased "blu-ray" ala carte,.... wha'p!#
- Other Thoughts: just hook me up.
DO NOT BUY SONY'S BC-55OOS
- Pros: This drive will work the first day it comes out of an OEM's box already in THEIR machine.
- Cons: I have this drive in a HP HDX 9200 Dual Core Entertainment Series Notebook. Made By Sony when you go to Sony for support they say right up front they DO NOT SUPPORT OEM DRIVES THEY MADE. HP has ZERO support for this drive on the web site and after 4 different calls to tech support I have given up. I have loaded the best Blu-ray software made like WIN DVD 9 Ultra, CyberLinks PowerDVD 9 Ultra and Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate NONE of which will read that drive. Cyberlink And Corel/WIN DVD have no problem with the refund as I only had the software 1 or 2 days. Roxio on the other hand has taken a stance against any refund. By-The-Way, They released Creator 2010 hours after I bought 2009 and want me to pay $30 to upgrade to that with no guarantee it will work either. Windows Explorer can't even read this drive except for data disks, they work PERFECT. 4 DAYS now working on this problem and I have given up. ROXIO will most likely have many unhappy articles written about them.
- Other Thoughts: I have over 20 years in the computer and software business. NEVER in all that time have I faced such a frustrating problem. My HP Notebook has a 3 year full coverage warranty but I'm NOT going to turn this over to them. It took them a month to put in a hard drive that failed in August and it took me 2 days to fix that when I got it back loading around 100 Gigabytes of Software and restoring old files.
Do yourself a favor, DON'T BUY A SONY Blu-ray replacement drive. Just pull it out and put it in the garbage and find another Brand. 4 days of lost billing on this stupid little problem. Pitiful, just plain pitiful is all I can say. Oh, one more thing: When Roxio says they have a 30 day money back Guarantee that may be true BUT you're going to have to fight them for it.
Great Little OD
- Pros: Works like a charm in mini itx HTPC slim case. Plays BD with no problem using Cyberlink PowerDVD and Zotac/Nvidia Ionitx-A-U mobo.
- Cons: No screws but luckly the mini-itx case came with them (very tiny almost like eyeglass screws). Also must have mini-sata cable as mentioned since a standard sata won't fit.
