5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: It plays my blu rays, tested with both the last samurai and the matrix.
It had a low cost considering at time when I bought it.

Kudos to newegg for getting it to me fairly quick and in perfect condition.

Cons: Can't play blu rays, but I bought it knowing that.
Since its not retail, no sata cable.
Software they sent to play the blu ray didn't play my movies off the bat.

Other Thoughts: Installed AnyDVD HD, and it works properly with given software :)

It will work. Just need the right software.

5 out of 5 eggsPioneer Reliability

Pros: -It's a pioneer, when it comes to optical drives they are awsome
-Reliable, no problems
-Quiet
-Fast (for what it is)
-Price ITS BLU RAY FOR this price

Cons: -NOTE: YOU DO NEED THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE TO PLAY BLU-RAY movies. However this plus the cost of the drive are still cheaper than a blu-ray player. so if you are adding on to a PC that you allready use for entertainment, go for it.

Other Thoughts: -AGAIN NOTE: Blu-Ray movies will not play without the proper software, which costs additional money, However again its still worth it for the drive + the software.
-I also discovered certain MOBOs with 6 ports have 4 available for RAID/HDDs/and optical drives, and the other two are set asside for a second RAID controler. Well when the other four are ocupied to complete a RAID 1+0 array, it kind of complicates things, so I bought a PCI SATA card for an additional $20 used.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Easy install. Shipped with current firmware rev. OEM packaging with Corel WinDVD 8 LE included. Don't forget to download WinDVD patch from Pioneer website. Not any noisier than my older DVD drive.

Cons: No Pioneer logo on front panel (nitpicky, I know).

Other Thoughts: Nice price for a good quality drive. When the burners drop below $100 I'll move up.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid, cheap blu-ray reader!

Pros: Works w/ blu-rays on the windows 7 beta, fast loading, coordinates well with power dvd. Quiet while playing movies. I haven't found any problems yet!

Cons: Very loud at times of spool-up, calms down though.

Other Thoughts: Overall for the price and what it does, this is definitely worth 5 eggs.

3 out of 5 eggsEh

Pros: The drive is pretty nice looking. Haven't bought a blu ray movie yet but I have installed games/vista on it so it works.

Cons: Randomly takes a long time to read a disc (This problem came up recently). It will read a cd fine and quick but then the next disc it will take forever. And it doesn't matter the disc. I through in a game disc and it read it at the normal speed, but then the next day it would take a long time to even begin reading the disc. I think this drive has mood swings.

Other Thoughts: I just bought a normal dvd drive to play all my game discs, etc.

I'll use the bluray drive for bluray.

Make sure you have an HD monitor if you want to play bluray movies. Some people tend to forget that..
