The Pioneer BDC-2202BK DVD/CD Writer gives you single and dual-layer Blu-ray Disc playback, and supports 12X write speed on DVD-R/+R media. In dual-layer format, a single DVD will hold 8.5 GB of data. HDCP is necessary
- Pros: Brings gorgeous high-definition Blu-ray content to your PC.
- Cons: Costs more than DVD drives.
- Other Thoughts: To view protected Blu-ray movies on a digital monitor using DVI or HDMI, your monitor and graphics card should support HDCP. Radeon HD series and GeForce 8400/8600/8800GT support HDCP. It takes careful attention to select a monitor that also supports HDCP. The Vista logo is supposed to include this, but some reports indicate that compliance is not 100%.
Works well
- Pros: Works well. Bought it to play Blu-Ray discs on a Media Center PC running Vista Ultimate. Its played all the Blu-Ray discs I've thrown at it so far. Definitely recommend doing the update that's available from Pioneer. Doing that update allowed me to play all the discs I own.
- Cons: Not much, just a little annoying that you have to download an update right away, but not too big a deal. Most of the discs I've opened have documentation that says to check for updates on your player, so not a real big deal.
- Other Thoughts: Haven't burned anything on it, but the specs seem a little slow. Then again I didn't purchase it for burning, just for watching videos.

- Pros: Its's cheap
- Cons: If you buy this be sure to purchase a 4pin sata power cord. The standard power cord will not work here.. it would have been nice if that was stated some where with this product
- Other Thoughts: I got my server built this last week, and after one week of this drive working it has failed like so many other parts I bought from new egg
It's a Blu-Ray......
- Pros: Fast reader, Plays all the DVD and CD that i've put in. i've only tried one blu-ray movie on it, and it works without any problem.
- Cons: A little over price since blu-ray players are fairly new. Blu-ray software application loads kinda slow, but i guess i still have to download updates from pioneer website.
- Other Thoughts: Pioneer blu-ray player works great, but it just need software updates from pioneer website to fix the bugs on the applications. As for the price, a bit over price since its fairly new technology, but it is expected so you really can't compare prices on the other optical players(DVD-RW,DVD/CD-RW,DVD-ROM,CD-ROM) with the blu-ray players.
