Fantastic Drive
- Pros: Burns Blu-Ray single AND double layer (50 gb) disks very quickly. Also reads my HD DVD disks too. This drive is fast and reads every disk I've put in it. Burns standard CDs and DVDs too. I'm very pleased.
- Cons: Absolutely none
- Other Thoughts: I waited to write this review until I had a chance to burn a DL Blu-Ray disk because someone said that it didn't burn DL Blu-Ray. I can now report that I just put 42.4 gb on a DL disk and I had no trouble at all. What a great deal!
Great driver
- Pros: Both this drive because of the dual format HD support, the blu-ray burning capability and the price w/free shipping :).
Installation was a breeze, was recognized right away. Comes with a rewritable 25gb disc, cyberlink software (eh). I think only the player is work installing along with the firmware proggie.
- Cons: none that I noticed.
- Other Thoughts: I read the reviews for the player, not the burner..seems alot of people had problems with powerdvd playing both formats. After installing the software, I tried to play I am Legend, it said I needed to update the software. After the grueling 1 min d/l of the 70mb file.....it updated and the movie played. Alos worked with 3 other blu-ray titles no problems. Went out today and bought a HD-DVD, it also played with no problem (Good Shepard).
I think you need a HDCP vid card to not have the problems most of those reviewers had when they updated the software. Dual boot system Win XP w/SP2 and Vista, both 32bit.
AMD 6000+, 2gb Kingston hyperx ram, SB X-Fi fatality, 2 x diamond 3870 Asus M2R32-MVP.
The power dvd works fine under both OS'S for me. If you have the system to handle this drive, get it

so far so good
- Pros: Cheap BD 25 and BD 50 burner
- Cons: Software is not the best. I had to download several patches before it would fully play a blu-ray
- Other Thoughts: I have yet to burn anything yet. So far it has played movies just fine. Currently it is ripping a movie and I am able to do other thing on my PC like play games and stream movies without any system hangs. Be sure you have a HDCP graphics card and monitor. Currently I'm running 2 gtx 260 cards in SLI and have HDMI out on my PC.
- Pros: Great BluRay playback, disc burning. Lightscribe is nice. All inclusive drive that does just about anything you throw at it.
- Cons: Poor software. I installed the PowerDVD on my system and it wouldn't play back any discs. Tried other playback programs and still nothing. Finally had to reformat my system to get it to work properly.
- Other Thoughts: Great drive, not so great software. A lot of unnecessary work for a drive that should play if all of your specifications are in sync with what the device requires.
P.O.S.!!
- Pros: ZERO!!!...oh wait new egg customer support is awesome!!!
- Cons: Does not read blu ray and barely reads other media!!!
- Other Thoughts: dont buy!!!
