5 out of 5 eggsBest Laptop optical Bluray drive made

Pros: I have purchased about 40 of these drives for various laptops and they work flawlessly.
Always super quality.

Cons: Sometimes they are not available

Other Thoughts: Work great and are Ultra speed X6 fastest Bluray Combo drive on the market for laptops

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works as expected

Cons: No manual, no connectors, no screws, just plain plastic bag and drive inside.

Other Thoughts: For this price one could expect at least connector (slim sata type by the way) and mounting screws. Luckily it worked in my HTPC (running Linux) without any problems including Blu-ray disks.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive but No Basics & Expensive

Pros: Great slim combo drive that plays CD/DVD/Blu-Ray in the HTPC I built inside of an NES case. I got this and paid more specifically because of the small dimensions I needed for this HTPC project. Perfect for my use!

Cons: Pay attention folks, this is important! This drive DOES NOT come with any usable power connector.

It REQUIRES a slim line sata connector with power adapter.

None of the local stores in my area had even heard of slim line sata when I called looking for one. I ended up getting the BYTECC 18" Sata and Slim Sata Power 7+6pin Cable from Newegg (Item #: N82E16812270183) which was perfect for this drive and costs $7.

There is also no included software for this drive, which I knew before I bought it, but was surprised to find that the Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra 11 costs $69.95. I guess that for what I paid to get this drive, having to shell out an additional $77 to get it working is frustrating.

I also found it annoying that there are no screws or rails.

Other Thoughts: My fault for not reading the reviews thoroughly enough. I would have seen the other 3-4 people who mentioned this power adapter issue. Live and learn! I hope someone reads mine and learns.

5 out of 5 eggsUpgrade for Lenovo Y560

Pros: Fit in my Lenovo Y560 Laptop, and works without a hitch playing blu rays (once 3rd party software installed.)

Cons: I had to trim a little bit off of the eject button push stick when I replaced the drive face with the one from the laptop. This was so the drive didn't keep popping open because the fit was too tight. Not a big deal, but might make a novice a little unsure.

Other Thoughts: Solid upgrade for blu ray. Installed in less than 10 minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: great drive, I paired this with an Asus e-350 board in an Antec isk 300 case w/65w PS. This little drive is great, I'm using PowerDVD 11 Ultra with it.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: I actually found this particular drive available from Newegg as Open Box and took my chances, glad I did because I saved a few bucks but well worth the cost even at full price

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Mini-HTPC

Pros: This is a perfect fit for my new miniATX HTPC.

Cons: I am not sure if it is the fault of the case (it probably is) or the drive, but initial install took some time to figure out. I had to wedge a little piece of cardboard between the top of the drive and the metal frame in the case for the drive to sit completely horizontal.

Other Thoughts: I use this drive with PowerDVD 11 Ultra in Windows 7 64-bit. Make sure you pair this drive up with some blu-ray software, as there is no included disc. Also, note that discs that come with other brand drives probably won't work. You will most likely need a full version of your chosen software.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like it should

Pros: Fit my ACER laptop perfectly. Works like it should. Plays movies just fine.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would have been nicer if it came wiht movie playing software. But it's a bare drive.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great. Zero issues in my Mini-ITX rig.

Cons: There are faster full size drives and you have to track down a slim sata connector setup to use it with a desktip motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Drive, tough to find PS with proper power connections

Pros: Blu-Ray compatable. LG drives have been great for me in past experiences.

Cons: "Mini-PCI" power connector that is non-standard for desktop ATX power supplies. Found a VERY NICE adapter at DIGISTOR with their model DIG-31631 adapter. It cost $6.00 + shipping but you may as well go ahead and order one if you order this drive and are placing it in a desktop system...
