5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Printer

Pros: Durability, cannot believe it has put out quality for over 4 years and just keeps on running well. Thought I would write review because I have nothing that has lasted this long and put out so much high quality prints.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome printer!

Pros: Prints great, color use is lower than my hp and I can replace only the color that I need to replace and not the whole ink cartridge just because one color ran out like the HP's!

Cons: No cons so far!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer!

Pros: Did not buy at Newegg, due to special offer. If not for that, they would be my first choice.

Used with Canon Pro Platinum paper, the gamut is insane. As good as, and better than prints from a lot of labs. We have a large format printer, and it's hard to tell the difference between this and the Large format. Also prints nicely with Ilford Classic Pearl. I did get it with 100% rebate from Canon when I bought SLR & lens kit (which I received in within a week, by courier (thank you Canon!)). Been using only the Canon Inks, and mostly Canon Paper. Would try other alternatives, but since I'm getting such good results, it's not worth the time for me to change variables.

Cons: It's a beast. Clear some space for it. No Network capability (but for the price range, I'm not complaining).

Other Thoughts: Don't complain about color issues if not using good color management practices (calibration & profile, at the least). If you are using a crummy monitor in a room with funky lights, colorful walls, and using low quality materials, you'll probably get bad results from any printer.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Deal

Pros: Initial impressions are that this printer prints excellent photos. With the MIR newegg has going on right now, this printer is a STEAL!

Cons: None, yet... But I am sure it is going to be how quickly I go through ink and how expensive it will be... but that goes with every printer..

5 out of 5 eggsBig, fast, makes good everyday printer too!

Pros: This printer is big. It has to be to print out the larger prints it is able to do.

This printer is a very high quality printer. It was designed to print photos first and foremost. I have found that it also makes a good everyday printer. Some people feel that it is only good for high quality photo prints but I have found that it makes a great every day printer.

Seems that most printers are designed for one sell ink. This printer is no exception. There are rebates where the cost of the printer if bought with a camera is ZERO. They get you with the ink costs down the road.

In order to get around that fact, I got a CISS (continuous ink supply system) sold around the web and I have found that the Pro 9000 MKII then makes for a great everyday printer with very low ink costs.

It can print just about anything including CD / DVD's and envelopes easily. For CD's & DVD's, you need to get a CD / DVD tray that also is available elsewhere.

Comes with Adobe Photoshop Elem

Cons: No real cons except if you buy the ink from Canon. Ink costs are high but there are ways around that (CISS).

Takes up a lot of space as it is kind of big. Biggest desktop printer I've seen in a while.

Don't expect a great first print. Run some standard paper through it for the first few prints as the color takes a while to come to where it needs to be. My first print was green until the ink system got itself set. My second was better, the third even better. Now it runs perfectly.

Ink costs are way high with the factory Canon ink. I heard there are better alternatives and got a CISS system. Easy to install and it works perfectly. Color is every bit as good as the factory ink. Plus it is way, way cheaper after the initial cost of the system.

Other Thoughts: If you are used to noisy, cheaper printers, then this will be a big change for you. Everything on this printer says quality. From photos to every day printing, this printer fits the bill. Best printer I've owned in over 35 years of computer experience. It is heavy, big, has 8 colors for really high end photo prints. Getting a CISS system will cut your ink costs dramatically.

This printer has been said can be shut down and not used without fear of ink jet clogging. I have heard that some folks have left it off for months at a time and still no ink problems. The design of the print head allows for removal and if needed replacement.

I normally buy everything from NewEgg. But in this case, I got this free with a rebate when purchasing a high end Canon DSLR camera.

I only wish that the US would have on their ballots, none of the above. If none of the above wins, then they would have to get new people to run. I am sick of voting for the evil of two lessers.

None of the above

5 out of 5 eggsReceived in 31 hours!!!

Pros: Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 Mark II ordered at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday. Arrived at 9:35 a.m. Thursday. I did not have "expedite order" checked and had 3 day UPS delivery for $4 on this product. Product arrived in its box with a label attached within 31 hours! I am glad I did not check "UPS 2 day guaranteed" because that would have slowed it down! I've never had shipping of a 30 pound product this fast in my life. I live on the East Coast and it was shipped from California. This is amazing!

Oh, yes, I plugged the printer in, set it up, tried some test photo prints with generic settings. The printer was purchased for photo printing. The first few that came out are beautiful. I expect to get professional quality prints out of this machine after doing manual color settings.

I bought this model after researching other printers. This one had a hefty rebate and for the quality prints you get it does not drink ink. I've done a number of 8x10's with no ink use shown so far. Nice!

Cons: Canon had the product taped up very well. There was a piece of tape that I thought had to come off before turning the unit on. On the far side of the print head. Just to let you know...this holds the print head lever down and isn't holding the print head in place. This wasn't clear. Once the printer is turned on, the print head holder slides over so that last piece of orange tape can be removed easily. Canon - put a note about that in your manual!

Other Thoughts: Great so far. For the price, this printer will give you pro quality prints at very large sizes. Much better colors and saturation than older inkjets had. The price of consumables (ink and paper) will far outweigh the price of this machine.
I have sent prints to pro labs and enjoy making them at home with more control over the process.

This is NOT a printer for everyday use for generic documents. It's mainly for photos or graphics printing.
And it is quite large, but not a problem since it gives such nice quality photo prints.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat prints but terrible ink system

Pros: No problem setting up, prints on gloss paper are gorgeous. easy to use

Cons: Where to start, The printer worked great for 6 months, ink "sensor" not an issue. Then the panel told me it was out of cyan ink , popped open a new ink tank and pulled the "old"one out. It was more than 1/2 full. Called Canon, must be a problem with the tank we will send you a new one, ok. Short time later, yellow shows empty, again over 1/2 full. Call canon again, this time told how to override the ink sensor, what gives?? They don't know. Used the override process canon gave me, Pop up window "warning this can void your warranty..." What!!! canon told me to do this. do it any way. Pretty soon this is the norm says out of ink when it is practically full. Solution bought inexpensive aftermarket ink for everyday break out canon ink for photos, aftermarket is 1/10th the cost and in normal printing not an issue. So far the aftermarket inks have been reporting level properly. Does canon really expect us to spend this much on ink and then have this error?

Other Thoughts: It prints great photos and general printing, nothing wrong with it mechanically. The electronic ink sensor is awful and frankly does not work. I truly feel sorry for people that don't look at the tank when they are changing out, they are spending at least twice what they should on ink if they have the same problem. I am not talking about the sponge area but the tank that holds the liquid.

Canon, at this price range GET IT RIGHT.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer 7 Stars woul;d be a 10 but NO NETWORK Connection!!!

Pros: Get it set up correctly and it prints amazing photos beter than the photo lab. Printed full page prints and the ink has not moved. If you find something wrong with the print quality your most likley the problem.

Cons: No network connection. For the cost and the name "pro" you whould think this would be included. For that reason I am calling it semi-pro but I will not take off an egg because the quality is just that good.

Other Thoughts: Going to get a Pixma 9500 Mark II just to see what king of B&W pictures it will do.

5 out of 5 eggsPredecessor Pro 9000

Pros: Great printer produces outstanding results!!! The current Pro9000 Mark II is probable even better.

Cons: Can be very complex to to use to best advantage. Would not recommend to a casual user.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the printer new probably close to 5 years ago. Got terrific results printing 13x19 pictures mostly of flower from the yard. Used up a 50 sheet box and netted four prints to mont for my wife (gave the rest away). To make a long story short, I lost interest for several months and din't get back to try to use the printer again for several months.

By then I had built a new computer with a 64 bit quad core processor and installed Win7. Could not get the computer to re-acquaint with the printer! I didn't feel up to working out the problem just then. At least 3 more years passed with the printer sitting there. Now I feared it's going to take a monstrous effort to remove the possibly clogged heads and thouroughly clean them to restore operability.

It did reuire me three days and many hours to install the 64 bit drivers and reconnect thru a print serve. Not a single clog!!! The Pro 9000 prints like the day I first ran it!!!! If anything improved with the updated Canon softwa

3 out of 5 eggsNot a good partner

Pros: Multi purpose does come in handy.

Cons: you can not use the equipment if there is no ink. for example to fax, or scan something which uses no ink. and even if it did use ink it could put it in memory till you do have ink.

but it doesnt do it, so you have to keep buying ink. also will use color ink even when you print in black and white, just to waste more ink.

Other Thoughts: Canon and most other manufacturers are milking us with the ink. it will pay off to go back to having separate machines for all different kind of uses, that way i never have down time because of not having ink. its murphys law, when you need it most is when you run out of ink, and get penalized.
