The MB471w high performance all-in-one printer delivers low running costs together with many time and energy saving features. A fast 35ppm mono printer it offers 1200dpi print quality, flexible media handling and automatic duplex printing as standard. Copying, faxing or scanning single or double sided documents is quick and easy thanks to the MB471w’s Reversing Automatic Document Feeder (RADF). For added convenience, the MB471w offers the flexibility of a wireless interface allowing your multifunction printer to be placed anywhere in the office.

To help control costs, the MB471w come with duplex (2-sided) printing/copying standard, so you can save paper and energy. And, for ongoing savings, their 2-piece consumable configuration lets you replace just a toner cartridge when you need to, instead of the toner cartridge and the image drum.

  • newegg Sharing files and documents is a snap Place your document on the flatbed platen or in the 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder (RADF) and scan it in color or black & white. Save and send the electronic version to a USB flash drive, a folder on your PC, the network or FTP site, as an attachment to an e-mail address, or as a fax. The MB471w facilitate your fax work with an array of handy features, including Internet (T.37) faxing, one-touch dialing, distinctive ring, broadcast faxing, and LDAP support.
  • newegg Further enhance your productivity With standard multi-tasking functionality, the MB471w enables you to perform several simultaneous tasks, such as scanning a document while the unit is printing. (Multiple tasks are completed automatically in order, not necessarily simultaneously.) User-friendly operator panel with LCD Display allows you to easily navigate through menus and operate functions with minimum steps. QWERTY keyboard behind 1-touch panel simplifies data and email address entry. A Job Macro function (accessible right on the operator panel) records and instantly recalls frequently used tasks and settings—automating them for increased productivity and efficiency. Front facing USB port enables you to directly print from a USB stick.
  • newegg Printing wirelessly and on the go The MB471w is compatible with mobile printing applications through their Ethernet network connectivity—and the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED /b/g/n standard that frees you from clutters and tangles. With its Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), the MB471w can be easily and securely installed on a wireless network either by Push Button or PIN WPS modes.
  • newegg Control the way your MFP is used The MB471w allows an administrator to grant or restrict access to individuals or groups of users. Simply assign individual PIN identification codes to your personnel, according to their privileges: print, copy, scan-to-email or network folders and transmit fax. They can unlock the restricted functions—with your permission—by entering their PIN codes into the machine’s control panel.
  • newegg Improve your bottom line The MB471w delivers cost-effective operation as well as an exceptional return on your investment. Its outstanding reliability and long-lasting consumables help you control operating costs and improve productivity. In addition to LED technology, it further reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) by enabling you to support one device rather than several, stock fewer replacement supplies and reduce user intervention. The MB471w has a Deep Sleep mode that uses less than 3 watts of electricity during short periods of inactivity, and will even power off after a minimum of 4 hours — so you pay less on energy costs. Your investment just keeps looking better and better. (Power Save button must be pressed to awaken unit from Deep Sleep mode; Auto Power Off is user-configurable; 4-hour default)
  • newegg Document management made easy Among the utilities that come standard with the MB471w are PaperPort and OmniPage by Nuance. PaperPort is the industry-leading, award-winning software that will enable you to easily organize your scanned files, further enhancing your productivity. With its intuitive, thumbnail-based interface, PaperPort lets you save any scanned document in a PDF or JPEG format, and quickly make it available for archiving or sharing. 1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: The printer drum went out after 5 months of normal use and it costs around $165 plus to replace. Oki said their warranty covers the printer but not the drum. I do not plan on doing business with this company anytime soon.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Printer - Not Perfect

Pros: Prints very quick and crisp on both sides
Lots of features ( Maybe too many )
Scans very well. Scans documents on both sides from document feeder.
Document feeder feels sturdy. Feeds paper nicely and very quickly
Drum and toner VERY easy to get to.
Flatbet Scanner pretty fast. Not as fast as I would like with color. But much faster than my old HP photosmart all in one.
Wirless and Lan good.
Web gui.... well... lets just say the web gui is thorough.

Cons: This printer is not easy to configure. The web gui is overwhelming. Wireless and Wifi are not simple to configure. Lack of Linux and Unix drivers/support. OKI tools are relativity useless, unless you are inputting hundreds of phone/email addresses into the device.

I feel that in order to get this printer running and configured properly, you need to know protocols, networking details and a fair amount about how technology, specifically, network printing should work. This is definatly NOT aplug and play device.

I image if you are just connecting a PC to this via USB you wont have too hard of a time. I got scan to email working through Gmail after a few hours of configuring. Windows install took me a few hours ( documentation is pretty lame) Still having an issue getting CUPS and Postscripts working correctly so I can print from my Linux devices. Color scans are a little slow. put not painfully so. Machine smells like a business printer when it fires up, my house smells like toner if I print lots of pages. It also takes a considerable amount of time to warm up. Hoever, once warm it prints REALLY fast.

Other Thoughts: So yeah, its hard to set up, overkill for a home network, loud, smells, lacks good documentation and Linux support, and takes a significant amount of time to warmup.

However, It prints fast and very cleanly. Lots of features. Excellent document feeder and duplex scanning ( the reason i bought it ) scan to email, scan to USB,and for the price, it is hard to beat. I still haven't managed to get it to scan properly to my NAS, FTP server or SMB folders. .. Toner and drum replacements see manageable.

So if you are not afraid to get elbow deep in a confusing ugly web GUI and fumble through some less than well thought documentation its a MFP with heaps of features, bells, whistles, what have you. And once configured, Wifi and Lan work well. I also needed WIFI, so also took a gamble on the OKI.

If you are looking for a do all home printing solution with networking, but you aren't too "tech-savvy" I would consider going with something else, like a $200 brother or something. This is a bit of a mule to configure.

4 - 5 Because its got loads of features, works well, and prints/scans/copies like it should. But its loud, big, heavy, smells of toner, and a bear to setup.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Printer / FAX / Scanner

Pros: OKI appears to use the same excellent automatic document feeder and control panel for a large number of their multi-function printers and they have worked out all the bugs in the process. It works amazingly well, even with slightly wrinkled source pages. The printer output is also excellent, as you might expect for 1200 dpi. Despite the high resolution it is also very fast, as is the scanner section. I am impressed. Setup was surprisingly easy on our wired network. The machine sniffed out our gateway, and DNS IP values perfectly, requiring only that the permanent IP address for the printer itself be entered. Actually, it did assign itself an address from our DHCP server, but we wanted a predictable, static value. It even came with the clock set correctly. The alphabetic keyboard is great for assigning the FAX identity and for entering URL's of any PC's on the network that you want the machine to recognize. At this price point, I am totally amazed. The 10,000 copy toner cartridge we purchased for use after the one that came installed in the machine is even reasonably priced. We will definitely be buying more OKI printers in the future.

Cons: If you are not computer savvy, the wealth of options that can be set may be a bit overwhelming. There are two manuals to cover all the features, but although they are exhaustive, some separate step by step instructions and some suggestions about when various options are useful would be helpful. Considering what this machine can do, that is not much of a complaint.

Other Thoughts: Even my wife, who is almost a Luddite, is pleased with this machine.
